This is one of the best hours I've ever spent!!! Thank you so much to the HHSI and to Andrew. I've resolved to spend more contemplative time with these gapped scales - and with other scales. There is so much power in working in this fundamental way!
This is an event of our Scoil na gCláirseach-Festival of Early Irish Harp 2020 COVID-19 alternative. We have a favour to ask: would you be so kind as to give us some feedback? We would be hugely grateful. Here’s the short questionnaire: forms.gle/j43jBXVLo47cmXsp9 Thanks so much if you can respond to it.
If you have been enjoying our youtube Scoil 2020 alternative videos, you can support the work of The Historical Harp Society of Ireland by donating any amount here: irishharp.org/join.htm No problem of course if that’s not possible for you in a very difficult year for so many people; we understand that very well.
That last mode centered around B is the Thaat (Scale) of Raag Malkauns in Indian Classical Music, a Raag believed to have supernatural powers. Some superstitious musicians even believe it can attract evil spirits.(Source: The Raga Guide, Nimbus). Maybe that is why there is no Irish tune to it.
Tkx a lot for this session !!!
Most welcome!
