1000 views, no comments. This is Kevin Smith at his worst. His life and personality seem to be an arc. Modest, sincere and talented young upstart. Then bloated, self centered, phony, pompous unhappy jerk. Then wiser, honest, reflective, middle aged man who is struggling with letting go of his youth and past views and trying to mature in a meaningful way. Kind of like everybody else but doing it in the midst of his talent and success. I dont think it's possible after great success to identify with the average person. Some aspire to, can't really do it and then some just grow disillusioned and disdainful of the average person and dont want the average person's views. I don't know his mind but I hope he just tries to make a great film because he's got the ability to without the exact content that got him by before. Maybe he'll write and direct an oscar winner about disabled kids or something. However winning an oscar can only happen if he becomes politically correct, which for some reason I don't think he will because he's still too damn smart and rebellious to be completely insincere. That's the only thing that will tie him to the average person no matter what. To be PC and call it compassionate is done by elitists now because they no longer know the difference. They have no idea why Donald Trump is president and claim its because of intolernace and hate. It's because people wanted to breathe again and have the freedom to joke with each other without the serious, threatening undertones of hostility. Weird times indeed.
