Hot and humid weekend ahead for the Charlotte area

Latest Drought Update
Every Thursday, the U.S. drought monitor is updated.. Right now, 99% of North Carolina and 100% of South Carolina is under drier-than-normal conditions, or worse. The Carolinas are officially in a Flash Drought.
Today
Clouds will steadily increase throughout the day with afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. The rain chance today is around 40%. Look for mostly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the mid 70s.
This Weekend
Saturday: Highs will reach the lower 90s but it will feel a whole lot more humid than it has the last few days. There is a chance for a pop up thunderstorm but there is a better chance Saturday evening. Feeling more like 100-102° during the peak of the afternoon.
Sunday: Highs will be in the low 90s with some in the mid 90s. Clouds will populate quickly which will suppress our warm up slightly. It will be so humid though, it could feel over 103° which will be in the danger threat for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. This could be our first Heat Advisory of the year in Charlotte.
