The world of Hindi Cinema has always been blessed with mellifluous music from several composers of that time . However , those were only a few selected people who became as popular as their works whereas the rest were forgotten although their works gained much recognition . Music maestro Ghulam Mohammed sahab belongs to that category . Having himself composed music for several films besides being the right-hand man of the maestro Naushad Ali sahab for a long time , assisting him in several of the latter's masterpiece creations , fate didn't allow him to receive a good recognition . & when time did come for him ( for the music of 'Pakeezah (1972)' which somewhat capitalized him to fame posthumously ) , he wasn't alive to enjoy the fruits of his labour . 😥
A very big thanks to Javed uncle for remembering this maestro & one of my favourite music directors Ghulam Mohammed sahab on his belated 54th death anniversary from one of his albums 'Hoor-e-Arab (1955)' . His music represented the Nawabi culture very beautifully & had its own nature of a beautiful tune in it , the 'dhrupad' part in his compositions was simply beautiful . Films like 'Paras (1949)' , 'Pardes (1950)' , 'Nazneen (1951)' , 'Amber (1952)' , 'Dil-e-Nadaan (1953)' , 'Mirza Ghalib (1954)' , 'Maalik (1958)' , 'Shama (1961)' & of course 'Pakeezah (1972)' are some of my favourite films of Ghulam Mohammed sahab . Veteran singers Mohammed Rafi sahab & Lata Mangeshkar'ji were his favourite singers though a handsome amount of his popular numbers were also sung by 'Velvet Voice' Talat Mahmood sahab as well . We pray for the peace of his soul . 🕯🤲⚘
