I love these kinds of videos so much. I remember fixing an old Socket 7 motherboard back in the day when I was a kid, by resoldering a 5 volt converter to the board that I ripped off an older 486 board. I didn't even know what the parts were at the time. I just knew it was broken/burnt and I had a part on another board with a similar number on it. It ended up working and I used it for a few years. Videos like this bring me back to those days.

I'm glad at least one of the three boards managed to spring back to life. I'm very gracious about that to be openly honest. The other two I really wanted to see suddenly wake up, but there's only so much that can be done tbh.
Also I don't have cats! I have dogs! Your suspicion is right though, I think it's because I had so much dog fur from my recently passed away Australian Shepherds that it ended up; unfortunately short circuiting the Maximus VIII Formula motherboard. As for the OMEN it sounds like it is dead dead, and at least it lived a good three months haha.
I think the lesson here is to on-occasion take out all of your computer parts and give them a good clean. Dust blower, cue tips, Isopropyl Alcohol, all that stuff if done once a year can hopefully keep your components alive for a little longer.
Great Video! Keep up the Tech Yes Fixin' :)

Picked up an Asus p9x79 Pro with i73820, 8x4GB of DDR3 1600 HyperXFury RAM, and a CoolerMaster Hyper 412S; this bundle was purchased almost three years ago for ~US$220. I've been running the motherboard as a daily driver since, although I did upgrade to E5-1680v2 (4.3Ghz OC) and a PCCooler (GI-D66A w/230W TDP). After selling off the CPU and Cooler, I basically got the motherboard for about ~US20.

That P6T Deluxe was the same motherboard I managed to "revive" with a good socket pin scrub, the two middle RAM slots weren't being recognized, so I gave them a bath in isoprophyl alcohol and scrub the socket with one of those antistatic brushes. Also, that board has the worst CMOS battery placement I've ever seen, vertically on a corner... I had to solder it back in place since the middle pin broke and the battery wasn't making proper contact and resetting every single reboot.

I sold a Motherboard, CPU, RAM bundle and 2 days later the buyer messaged me saying it wasn't working and could I take a look at it for them. So they bought it over installed in the case and straight away I saw the problem..... they had used a 6+2 PIN PCIE connector on the motherboard EPS connection. I found the 4+4 PIN connector tucked away in the back plugged it in and away it went..... kind of a novice mistake but everyone has to learn.... I didn't charge them a penny extra and also tidied up their cable management for them too :)

Generally motherboard refused to turn on is usually points toward vrm power delivery having a faulty MOSFET or shorting to ground. And second thing is the CPU socket have a short life cycle if you constantly put in and take out the CPU too many times you will put the pins out of place and can short out something on the board resulting no post. Now the GPU with no post is a whole different situation as fault finding the board is tricky as you need thermal camera, voltage injection, digital multi meter with fine tips, knowledge and replacement parts

The first flight we booked before covid was even a thing and the date was right after the first lockdowns started. The second we booked after the first wave was over and we thought it would be ok in 2021. My wife hasn’t seen her family in 5 years since it is too expensive to fly from Sweden each year. Hey Brian, the Rampage IV Extreme has a temp issue that stops it from booting. I've got 2 of these with this issue, apparently caused by a faulty LN2 sensor on the board. When mine don't boot I warm them up with a hairdryer (max heat from about 20cm) and they turn on after 10-20 seconds of heat, maybe 30 if stubborne. (I also live here in QLD and they still have this issue in summer) Might be worth a shot.

I have an old GPU who has similar issues but worse and only when some sort of 3D acceleration is happening which is really a mess you can't do anything with it, but i have found a use for it, i have it on NAS OMV-based server and since the server runs at 2D graphics when you boot it and the mobo won't boot without a GPU because it doesn't even have an internal one, the GPU being broken for 3D doesn't matter there cause terminal GUI (and even at BIOS) have no issue whatsoever.
I have placed a fan beside it because it really needs it since it only has a passive cooling and it works wonders, but this is probably what damaged it in the first place from whoever had the card before me.

the rampage IV ex is a motherboard I have once lived with, it has a notorious cold start fault and warming the board up with a hairdyer for a bit will get it booting, worth a try just get it all setup with and ready to go, then just wave hot air around the board to bring it up to temp should fire it up right away, should also start in warm enviroments over 33c or there abouts, I really do hope you see this because this was a common fault with Rampage IV Exteme owners, the best solution keep it running, and keep a hair dryer handy to warm it up in the case of cold start fault. the cold start fault started showing up on these boards around 2014 as the came out at the end of 2011 most just lived with it after learning how to make them boot.

I re-straightened the pins and reinstalled the cpu and found that two ram slots, b1 and b2 respectively, were not reading the ram that was installed. I also switched back to my old cpu and all the ram was being read correctly which means there is an issue with the new cpu and I believe the bent pin was the cause.

@@Xello99 Bremsenreiniger ist was anderes.

If one bad vram chip is desoldered/removed, maybe the card will work fine again??

@@sixcoregamer9221 Whatever the reason the card is not functional, the oven method might work. It's worth a try. :)

Hi, I have Zorin Linux system at home and it is very useful as a tool to remove old windows 10 partitions from an M.2 SDD. There is a utility that removes all the partitions for use in a new or existing PC.

hi, 26:35 it depends on the IO, some have use a part of the bios, to work. the 3 boards , dead normaly have some power rails down 3.3v. 5v, 1v... is need to check first, best way is to compare to a working one :

Nvidia mats - often no picture or artefacts are from faulty memory (common problem with 10xx/20xx/30xx cards). Shows exactly what memory bank is at error. certain cases may also be dead memory controller in gpu. Also try as secondary card and look what bios it has. Seen many cards with either dead bios chip or some wierd/faulty bios flashed in ;) + test 12v, 5v and 1,8v rails to see are they there and what they are. seen cards with just a blown fuse (usualy long time miners). I learned lot from Tech Cemetery videos. Hes awesome at resurecting video cards and gives detailed describtion what and why he does.

Hey, just discovered your channel and like quite a few vids of yours. Since I have been working in Australia when I was young and pretty I really love your accent too ;-) My question is: At 28:18 you are using a cleaning spray on your cpu and memory sockets. Can you comment on that? Which kind of spray? What do you do after spraying (just let it dry, wiping it off etc.) ? Having a i7-4790K with some oxydized contacts which I kind of managed to improve with a glas fiber pen after getting 5 beeps from my AMI bios. Thx.

I have a 1st gen motherboard (LGA 1156), and sometimes it works, sometimes it won't, and sometimes only reads some memory, socket seems fine, does this have a fix ?

I've had several motherboards that either wouldn't come up at all or would fail in the POST process somewhere and hang on boot. No fireworks or nasty abrupt shutdown, just one day wouldn't come up. Like an old person dying in their sleep, that's how most of your electronic devices are going to fail. Asus good with pilot and POST LEDs but my old Crosshair V indicator for CPU was lit red so I bought a compatible Sempron on Amazon dirt cheap and it still wouldn't boot. The old CPU would boot in a different AM3+ board and so would the Sempron. Most of the boards that I had crap out this way had already gotten a lot of use and no new BIOS updates were being written so I ended up chucking them. Probably an upset failure that picked that particular time to give up the ghost.

Can you have a video on how to replace a fan on an otherwise working psu or should I just leave it to professionals? I actually already bought a new one. But I hate to throw away a "working" psu which the only issue is a fan with bearing noise.

I fell asleep and left my pc running a game and when I woke up the pc had froze and I had to force shutdown but its had problems since.
Sometimes it will boot fine and detect both ram sticks but then sometimes it will only detect 1 stick of ram and sometimes it will boot loop or just stay on and not post and I have to keep turning it off and back on again to get it to boot (I assume it detects no sticks when boot looping or refusing to post but I don't know though)
It's an I5 4690k, 16gb ddr3 (2x8gb) and motherboard is msi z97 pc mate, any help or advice would be appreciated as I would love to get this system working again cuz my son could do with a pc for college and he also wants to play some game's on pc
