  • WELCOME TO A BRAND NEW JAPAN SERIES!
    This video is the first of around 15 videos of our trip to Japan in April 2018! In this trip Liam (the bf) and I head on a mega train tour of Japan including visiting Kanazawa, Matsumoto, Nagoya, Kyoto, Kinosaki Onsen, Nikko and, of course, Tokyo and Tokyo Disney! This video is our travel day! We had an EPIC TRAVEL day of three trains, two planes and a few buses, taking us all the way from sunny London to Kanazawa in Japan. As always there is plenty of tips throughout the video to help you make the journey to Japan if you're going! I hope you enjoy the video and the series!

    I’ve come back & rewatched this video so many times now! I miss the excitement of travelling to Japan (or anywhere, really), arriving at Narita and making my way in to Tokyo.. the start of the adventure is so much fun! This vid captures that vibe. Thank you Natasha 🙂

    My wife and I watched your videos three years ago before our expected trip to Japan in May 2020. For obvious reasons, that trip had to be cancelled. We have now booked again to go this may (2023) and I'm again watching your old Japan videos and am enjoying them just as much the second time around and continue to pick up tips about how to travel in the country. Thank you.

    I have been searching RUclips for vlogs to Japan and to be honest the stuff that is coming back is good but your video is perfect. You really let your personality shine though and your so talkative and informative its awesome. Obviously I am 3 years behind in finding you channel but I am really looking forward to seeing what other content. I do vlogs but I am still finding my flow and how to bring my personality through and I'm getting there but you vlog is amazing. I can't wait to get to Japan and explore the amazing city.

    Loved this, brought back memories of my trips to Japan, heading back in October. The Japan Rail Pass is a must if you intend to travel around a lot, I rode the Shinkansen about 10 times in 3 weeks, would have cost a fortune without the pass. Looking forward to watching the rest of your Japan uploads.

    • @thisNatasha

      Thanks so much Craig! Yes we love the Japan Rail Pass! When we lived there we couldn't buy it - so we felt the full force of the shinkansen prices!!! In the last video we started really saving money - I think it'll be well over 20k JPY by the time we're done!

      March 29th we left London, i am aware technically that is not April but the majority of the 17 days were April. By the 6th we were already on Miyajima, the rainiest day of the trip! Finnair is such a great route into Japan. Having watched your travel video, next time i am considering the land and straight onto the bullet train option, although i love Tokyo so much.

Thanks so much for the suggestion, a video like that would be a good idea! Thanks for the comment!!! :D

    Hi Natasha! New subscriber here. Your videos are so informative and fun to watch. I am heading to Japan this October and will be buying a JR pass, however, I do not need to activate it right away. Do you recommend picking up the pass as soon as I land, or wait until the date I need it activated comes closer? If I wait, could I get it activated at a station like Tokyo or Ueno? Thanks for help, keep up the awesome videos!

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  5 лет назад +1

      Oh YAY WELCOME! Hope you're excited for your Japan trip! You don't need to pick up your JR Pass straight away - and actually I've always found the queues at Tokyo Station to be much less than at the airport. So if I were you I would wait and pick it up at Tokyo Station when you need it - that way you'll wait a lot less!!! Hope it helps!

I didn't need to pre order or any thing, just turned up to a little booth near the platform showed the man my passport and said how long I was here for and he did all the rest.

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  6 лет назад

      Hi Ivana!!! I used to fly virgin to Tokyo but sadly they stopped their Tokyo flights! I fly virgin with work a lot as well as to USA! It’s weird in that terminal I always want to head to the virgin gates! Also if you’re just going to head to Tokyo and not leave the city I wouldn’t recommend a rail pass at all! Just get a suica card and add some money to that and use that as your travel card around Tokyo. If you’re leaving the city and going to Kyoto, Osaka, or anywhere further away I’d recommend getting a week long JR Pass as you’ll save money for sure. If you’re not planning on leaving then no need for a pass! I hope that helps!

    I found your videos about two weeks ago and I have not been able to stop watching them. I love them, they are so informative! Since I was five years old I have been dreaming of going to Japan. I still don't have a date yet, but I'm hoping to change that soon. I'm trying to learn from peoples' vlogs to be more prepared and yours are excellent, you show places to eat, where to buy anime/video games/Disney stuff (my three major weakness XD) and cultural places. I'm actually filling a notebook with all the info. I trully apreciate the part about the Ninja Wifi and the process of claiming/using the JR pass too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!!! I wonder how many years this trip took off your lives? The only place you did not go was Fukushima. I guess the thought of 100's of metric tons of radioactive waste being dumped into the air and water every day since 2011 did not concern you.

    • @thisNatasha
      @thisNatasha  6 лет назад

      Yeah it was a busy trip! We actually did look at heading into or around the Fukushima prefecture but it was too cold in the months we visited! The risk of radioactivity is very low - especially if you know what to eat and not to eat. Fukushima needs the tourism business to help bring some money in; and because of the disaster it's really suffering. I think it wouldn't bother me too much to visit - my boyfriend has a phd in particle physics so I trust his judgement on these things. I also read this wonderful report about mother's in Fukushima working on gathering radioactive data from food, and since then I have been not eating a lot of mushrooms from the area (www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2017/03/17/national/fukushima-moms-don-lab-coats-measure-radiation-food-sand-soil/#.W6TCRpNKhQI). So I guess it's good to stay educated on the subject, read a lot, and make good judgements!
