Legit one of your best comparison. Proper went in. S9 Plus for me as an overall better camera experience and more video shooting options with better 4K stabilisation as well. Huawei are on to something with their new camera but personally not out right better

Exactly, Huawei relies heavily on software, while the optics on the S9+ are way better. I think with the same AI and programming as in the Huawei, the S9+ can outperform the Huawei on even more areas.

The Legend O' AK_47 I'd still say Pixel 2 is better, I like the photos way more on that phone than any other. For video, probably the S9+, mostly because of the slow-mo and the amazing stabalization at 4k.
The Legend O' AK_47 nah, im pretty sure you have seen the camera comparison between the s9+ and the pixel 2 xl in this channel and other channels. You and I both know that the pixel 2 xl is better not just in the front camera but in the rear as well (most of the time). Basically, the pixel 2 xl is has better camera when it comes to taking pictures but the s9 + has a better camrra in terms of video recording.

Yes they are honest with the camera. However they aren't honest with the price tag. Comparing P20 Pro with S9 will be accurate since they both come with the same price tag.

Xhilda Cani I had a S7 Edge before buying the S9 plus last week. I tape singing in our local theatre (on my channel) and people are pretty impressed by the quality of both video and audio. Going to try out the S9 plus this weekend. You're right, every other mic I hear in comparisons are far worse.

peaceminusone 1 not a gimmick(generally speaking)......basically, this is what happens when you got a good idea, but weren't either brave enough or financially balanced enough(or probably way too ambitious with little dough) to support/toss enough cash into your R&D.
In the end, this is the kind of thing that differentiates a company like Sammy from the others.......once I heard that only one camera(the telephoto) had OIS etc, I knew Huawei were just not sure about what they actually needed to do......they went for big numbers, not big results.
I'm sure a lot of companies also have ideas like this, but unlike Huawei, they either realised their limitations or choose to (closely) perfect their current tech(with advancements along the way), before moving onto the next.
Huawei never learned from Samsung. Remember when the Galaxy S6 has a better resolution sensor than S9, yet it sucks in low light? Sammy reduced the sensor resolution in purpose. This vid is a perfect example, where 40MP photo sucks big time comapred to 10MP photo. Also, P20's 24MP selfie looks softer compared to S9's 8MP selfie... but I so appreciate how huawei attempted to jump up the camera game, also adding easy access Night Mode (Sammy's mid-range phones has that, I wonder why they don't add it to their flagships)

Did you try adjusting any of the P20 Pro camera settings to improve saturation etc? It make sense to shoot straight out of the box for a fair comparison of manufacturers settings of course, just interesting to know if the P20 Pro can be tweaked to improve.

great review as always, the diffrences nowerdays are so small it comes down to color/contrast preferences, i think. Your testing is really good, there is only ONE issue i have: when cropping down to 100 percent i think it would be better to scale both to the same size in angle of view, because even a camera with less megapixel can be sharper as another camera at the same crop. Lenses usually have a stronger impact on sharpness and you can not really judge that if you crop diffrently (same percentage in pixel terms). I hope that makes sense...

I think using night mode is cheating , because it let you have a longer exposure and you have that in pro mode on s9

It doesn't count , because samsung actually enhanced the camera's ability to absorb more light while they just give you more time to get that much light in the sensor, so technically he should've checked shutter speed and applied the same thing to the s9 otherwise he just used pro mode on p20 while using auto on s9
exactly!!!! You can achieve this effect by increasing exposure time even on the S8!!!!! I bet you can achieve even better exposure on the s9 with that amazingly wide aperture!
I don't think it's cheating though. Since it's using the AI to get better lighting and detail, it's a result of the phone's software processing ability. If you wanted to negate software for both phones might as well compare raw images and base it some off the camera hardware
Billy The Kid because the S9+ would require a tripod as it can't do long exposure whilst being held. P20 Pro doesn't need a tripod which is a huge advantage and a feature it has over any other device
Surprising results given the huge difference on the camera hardware! I expected more from P20 Pro. Though, it satisfies the pixel peepers out there. Reminds me a lot of the Lumia phones. Been waiting for this kind of objective comparison. Great job!
