In light of the current situation, this song is very current. Because the world is rapidly spiraling towards ruin and we have to cling to things that will actually remain.
It's chilling, watching the ruins of all of those ancient monuments and architectural feats which men poured hours of brain work and design and sweat and tears into assembling and putting together, and realising that King Solomon was right: it was all just a chasing after the wind.
We agree!! The saint who put this lyric video together was in tune with the essence of this hymn. It is encouraging that you were touched by that. Thanks for the reply.
@@NYCYPCD Can I have a like then? Ask, and you shall be given? You do not have, because you do not ask. Hopefully I'm not asking evilly, for my own pleasures. At least, I don't think so! I was touched by something else that corresponded between the images and the lyrics. I'll get back to you right after I've watched it again. It felt very important at the time.
@@NYCYPCD Oh yes, the next part was also very sobering: "Had I love and wealth in fullest measure" with the luxury yacht on the grand blue sea, the absolute signal of "success" in this age, just as the monuments were in the ages past. And I just felt the emptiness of it all. The void left in my heart from the sense of the loss of Christ, no riches or success on earth, or love can compensate for. It is simply impossible. I'm not going to pretend I don't covet those things sometimes. Because I can feel empty and poor and sorry for myself and I can get the fear of missing out and a certain sense of self pity. But it felt like I was genuinely offered the choice between Christ or, firstly, worldly glory, and secondly, worldly success, and it all just feels so hollow. I'm reminded of line from a Psalm I used to get annoyed by which said: "To all perfection I see a limit, but Your laws are boundless." It annoyed me, because it got in the way of my ambition to get really successful so that I can be in a better position to promote the gospel and to gain more traction. But that was my way. It was not our Lord's Way. Whatever I am or have or can do adds nothing to His Gospel of the Kingdom. If anything, it just blocks out God's Son. I used to think I needed worldly success to back up my credibility in preaching the gospel, because I've heard the saying: "Money talks." But that's not the kind of persuasion our Lord Jesus needs from me. He needs my prayers. He needs my time. He needs my care. He needs my love. He needs my humanity. He and mammon don't get along. When I've got Christ, I don't need mammon. When people are filled up with mammon, they are deceived into thinking that they don't need Christ. I've made my choice, this video has made up my mind. If I have to choose between Christ and mammon, I'll choose Christ, even if I'll have to completely abandon mammon. At least Christ gives me satisfaction. Mammon just leaves me hungry and thirsty and lusting for more, and God forbid it gain ground in my heart!
Today, in light of the world situation, with Russia at war against the Ukraine, this song just means so much more. Oh Lord Jesus! Keep us! Save us! Mature us!
Thank You for gaining us Lord...Oh Lord Jesus I Love You..
Praise the Lord saints
Amen
Amen Lord Jesus Christ
