I've said for a while now that after South Park and Family Guy outpaced The Simpsons, Futurama would've been the perfect way for Matt Groening to catch up. The show was like putty, ready to be shaped to match the new tone for mature animation and instead they started trying to change The Simpsons 👎
For me the moment that went to far was when we see the flashback of Fry's dog Seymour sitting outside the pizza shop, waiting for Fry to come back and knowing that he never will. Poor Seymour just waiting and waiting for his human. It breaks my heart and I can't watch that episode without crying.
@@heathern6737 I understand it was very sad but I still think that it's something that is not as awful as Fry being his own grandfather or what Yivo did when you think about it.
I've noticed there are 4 touching episodes, one per each member of Fry's family: Season 3 - "The Luck of The Fryrish" (His brother, Yancy) Season 4 - "Jurassic Bark" (His dog, Seymour Asses) Season 6 - "Cold Warriors" ( His dad) Season 7 - "Game of Tones" (His mom)
If we only talk about Fry. There is "Leela's homeworld" (season 4) for Leela and her parents and even "Lethal inspection" (season 6) for Bender and Hermes. Futurama sure knew how to make us cry.
So no one at Watch mojo can properly pronounce Omicron Persiei 8 and they think The Problem with Popplers was their first appearance... have they even watched this show?
If "Futurama" actually had crossed the line, it wouldn't be such a memorable show that is still quite funny to watch all these years, and it's best not to make a big deal out of the humor if it makes everyone laugh in some form or another, even if it is a bit macabre or dark at times.
It is still on, Hulu restarted the series after 10 years. Episode 1 of Season 11 started today. If you're not in the states, Disney+ is airing it in most other countries.
Pretty sure Planet Express first dealt with Omicron Persei 8 when the show they watched Single Female Lawyer was turned off by a signal distress in the first season and Kiff wasn't thrilled at all from dying from being snusnued.
After 10 years my favorite show was rebooted im so grateful it’s finally come back but come on one episode a week I can’t wait 7 days to see the next new episode but I guess I have to
The idea of a satire is to cross the line. It is supposed to be cynical, offensive, even nerve-inducing. Because it is supposed to be so. Satire is supposed to take you outside of your comfort zone, so you can start thinking with your head. It always will be, therefore, better than the brainless toilet humour. Futurama is nowhere near as offensive as you make it to be.
Getting it on until you drop is NOT a good idea, It's like almost getting a fatal hangover from pushing yourself pass your limit towards exhaustion... plus dehydration 😵💫😖😮💨 ~Jesse
I don't think Futurama crossed the line in these episodes. Sure some of the stuff they did was a bit iffy, little bit questionable and a little bit disgusting but it is tame compared to Family Guy and South Park. Also the last entry "Death by Snu Snu" they said that Kiff was into to it. He was not as when the Femputer sentenced them to death by snu snu, Brannigan and Fry both said yay while Kiff was response was like an oh no. Which Brannigan responds to him: " What are you, gay?" (His words not mine.) The reason why Kiff didn't die that way was because he didn't want to die and he want to be with Amy. As for the Poppler one, they make it sound like the rest of the Planet Express crew still wanted to eat the poppler despite finding out that they were babies. They stopped eating them after the baby that Leela discovered responded by saying: "No, Momma. Stop Grandpa, "when Professor Farnsworth wanted to disect it's brain to determine that it is a sentience being which shocked the crew when they heard it. Fry and Bender even tried to help Leela to convince people to stop eating Popplers but failed due to Fry handcuffing himself to a revolving door in an attempt to stop them from entering one of Fishy Joe's fast food places and Bender tried to tell them to them to stop but basically told people about the different orders that they could have. This is another example that Watchmojo gets their facts wrong again and why similar youtube channels make fun of them for that.
"Let not show honorable or dishonorable mentions like we used to, let's instead beg for subs another time before the end, because several times isn't enough throughout a 20 minute video!" - Watchmojo
Where's Bender tapdancing on the corpse of that little girl? The entirety of Neutopia? The infuriating Penn & Teller joke from Into The Wild Green Yonder?
Gonna be frank, I've seen Family Guy do way worse. LOL Futurama can push the envelope but not to the point where I'm turned away from it. it's edgy but an edge that is bearable to watch.
Hey geniuses, Popplers weren't the first run-in with the Omicronians. The first encounter was when Fry accidentally cut off the feed for a TV show that took a thousand years to reach their planet. Do your research right or don't bother making a list.
Also it's very clear that the people working on Futurama just like having scenes involving the Professor naked just cause they think it's funny showing a saggy wrinkly old man running around naked
I forgot how hilarious Futurama was, crossing the line once was the hallmark of the Simpsons, but then they got tame because everyone got used to them. Futurama was the perfect cartoon for me since my sense of humor can often venture into the dark categories, almost nothing is off limits if it's funny. Many of their reasons Futurama went too far are ridiculous, such as Leila touching her eye? The squishy sounds? Get real, just because you're squeamish doesn't mean they went too far, it just means it isn't for you. Now you could come up with hundreds of times South Park went too far, it doesn't mean they aren't funny AF, it just means YOU shouldn't watch it, there's plenty of times I think they went too far, do you think I laughed anyway? You bet your a** I did, I've laughed so hard at some things I didn't agree with I was ashamed of myself, but I still watch them because staying within the lines gets old, the funniest jokes have always pushed the boundaries of what's considered too far, just watch the movie about Lenny Bruce and you'll see that refusing to allow comedy to go as far as they want is censorship, if you don't like it, change the channel, it's that simple
Plus Futurama isn't even hardcore offensive like South Park or Family Guy so either give actual criticism or don't say a thing (I was targeting WatchMojo didn't want you thinking I was targeting you)
@@JohnMendez-rf5yo I rarely watch WatchMojo for several reasons actually, but one of the major ones is they either exaggerate or flat out lie to try and seem edgy or controversial. I have, after posting this, told RUclips to stop recommending their channel because of ridiculous claims or statements they often make and, TBH, I'm a lot happier with YT without WM.
At least Fry and Leela proved they'd still love and be attracted to each other if when their physical appearance gets impaired through age and even though they like their package they also like the things behind it: the content and essence.
Popper episode isn't the first time dealing with Omnicrons and they sung that song before they found out they were babies. Every man's fantasy to die by tons of sex lol.
Futurama only 'crosses the line' by todays standards. Back when Futurama originally ran, no one kicked up so much of a fuss that there was a video made about it.
I ain’t got a problem with it. Everything shown is both genuine and also the punchline. I’m pretty sure South Park has done worse and it’s still running. 😂 Don’t tarnish Futurama we just got it back. 😤
@bluecomet8416 I know the scene. Hermes and the professor walk in asking what is going on. The professor picks up the blunt and says they found one of your cigars and Hermes replies that's not a cigar and that's not mine but suspiciously say it. He even put it in his jacket pocket and you can still see the smoke coming from his jacket.
