Good job. You got to the point much quicker than 99% of the other trailer/kayak videos out there. You told me what I needed to know up front. Plus smart, simple design
Do you think it would be possible to safely modify a jet ski trailer to carry a single ski and a yak on either side? A double trailer modified to fit one in the center and yak mounts on either side was my thought.
I have a jet ski trailer used to pull one kayak but joined a club and want to be able to haul 4 kayaks. Can you think of a way to go over the top with 2 more? You seem to have a good practical mind. Thanks for the post.
What do you mean by tippy? Do they feel as if they're going to roll out from under the boat although they are bolted down? do they flex out as if they want to roll away from the keel of the yak? Thank you! Nice video and setup!
Just picked up a jet ski trailer yesterday. I’m probably gonna do the same as you with the 2x6’s. Do you have to use the pvc? Or will the kayaks just lay on the 2x6’s?
I just used cheap spray paint. It is peeling off a little on top from the kayaks sliding on and off, but not too bad. Easy enough to touch up. Perhaps sanding the PVC before painting would have helped a little.
hey man, hope you get back to me. i got a pretty damn wide yak (34in w 11'9 L) and I'm trying to not put that atop my roof everytime so I'm looking for a trailer. i can get a real small single jetski trailer, do you think with that width i could pop that sucker on there and it would fit with little adjustment? haven't got a chance to go see the trailers they have to offer but he said they're pretty small already and can adjust even smaller.
My Yaks are 33'x13' and 34'x10' and I haul them both on my trailer with a few inches in between. I would think any jet ski trailer would be fine for one Yak. Hope this helps!
Jason I have a single jet ski trailer that I made to haul both my single kayak and my other yak. I have a nucanoe frontier and a feel free lure 10 and it hauls them both. one is 41 inches wide the other 35. so yes one will be great on a single.
Wow! Just wow! Sorry man but I'm going to have to steal some of your ideas when I build my own double hauler. Thanks for the video. Great looking trailer brother.
Gary Bayes exactly why is that? You seem to not want to answer that question. I've used ratchet straps on my Old Town Predator for 5 years. Never been a problem, no issues, etc.
Such a simple yet functional build. Exactly what I needed to see thanks.

The PVC looks like good storage space for fishing gear, etc. Great job.

Sure beats the top of a car or bed of the truck. Good job
Good build man. Just got my trailer last week and bought some 3inch by 10 foot pipes today! gonna have a fun project on my hands for this weekend
How wide was this trailer
nice job ,i like the way u keep it simple.
Hey, What did yout mount for the runners. What are they sitting on? im Looking at Similar idea, Do you have a parts list by chance? Thanks!
Do you ever haul just one? If so any swaying issues?
Freaking AWSUM design.
Simple yet EFFECTIVE.
I'ma doing it
any issue with rocks and debris damage to your kayak from the pull vehicle?

How did you secure the PVC ?
What is the width of your 3" conduits apart?
How wide is your Boards that you bolted conduits too?

Hey what did you paint your pvc with? How has it held up a year later?

@@yaktimes3620 UV cannot penetrate acrylic paint. I used enamel spray paint on my kayak rack and after 2 years the PVC shattered. Hard lesson!

how did you attach the retractable ratchet straps??
One lag screw on each... into the 2x6. they are pre drilled and ready to mount.
You put the lag screw directly through the short strap?
There is a predrilled hole on the metal section on the ratchet... Its exposed when you open the ratchet part.
Awesome....I'll take another look at mine. Thanks for the info and video!
Your welcome!
What brackets do you use for the running board.
@@T.Hang197 he used a lag screw

Very nice, i like it.
Thanks for posting.
Ratchet straps are a no no for kayak
Gary Bayes why is that? Just curious

I do 6 hour drives with kayaks using ratchet straps, never had a problem. Never heard anyone say not to use them.
I think Gary is against ratchet straps because some people tend to over tighten them and it causes the kayaks to bend/bow
depends on the kayak.
Shhhh
I can barely hear what the heck you're saying dude
