Back in 2014, I learned from this tutorial to play it during my parents' renewal of vows. 2020, I came back to this vid so I can play it again but this time for my beloved dad's funeral. He loved how I can play Thousand Years. Thank you for this man :).
why don't be so thankful that somebody is eager for you to learn and share his talent for us, instead of saying stupid u cannot learn it by one sitting. Learn your way like u can always pause it and continue... duh! Anyway thank you sir for showing us the easiest way of playing this in piano it's one of my favourites.

Chris van der Meulen yes it is, cuz when he lifts all his fingers off it still rings😂 a best bet would be releasing and pressing the pedal at the beginning of every bar

Its not a paid tutorial so you have no right to complain haha!
I suggest if you find it really fast, write down the notes and then try it without watching how he plays it, then if you get successful with playing it then compare it with the video and see if you did it... seriously it works for me :)

It's easier to learn with a piano that can take midi files... I learnt it pretty quickly that way :)
learn the orginal piano version it takes longer but the result is wonderful 😉

I absolutely love how you start out with this tutorial. How you break down the notes first and then introduce the speed, however you did not do that with the 2nd part of the 1st stanza and it goes so fast I can't even pause it quick enough to see the notes! AH!!! I was so excited and sounding so good until then and then tooooo fast!!!

I made two options for the 2nd part of stanza(s): 1st option is a bit "syncopated" and it is how it's played in the original song by Christina Perri; 2nd option is simplified if you wish to sing on ur own while u play the piano (it's easier). If you have someone singing while u play the piano, then take the 1st option. Here's something that helps a lot, try the Play,Pause,Play,Pause, then Rewind...Keep practising :-)

Yes, you can. From the beginning I could sing and play at the same time. It can even be much easier if you don't guide yourself where you are singing the song, you know perfectly where you are haha. Just try it.

I can manage to follow what your tutorial say but it's kinda hard to keep up. I often pause the video just to fully understand what note you are pressing. You just played it really fast...
Oh my GOSH GUYS this piano tutorial can help some people and some it can't you don't need to be rude and type "this tutorial sucks". If you didn't like it, thumbs down and move on, or say how he could improve.
Yeah he made this very clear and simple, it was good this version is actually the easiest to play I dunno why some people are still complaining tho

The heck. I can read notes. I can read chords a litle bit. but looking at your videos are really the best. I just pause at each chord and write it down and I memorize how you play it.

Hi, I just wanna comment. Your tutorial is really good. And I really like it but it is a bit (oh yeah really FAST). O really want to play it but some part is so fast like the 2nd part of the stanza the whole stanza rather. And I cant play it. Its just too fast. Even the pause option cant really help.

Hey I was struggling too but may I recommend noting down the notes as they show up on the screen and practicing them, try to watch the video again and again so you can get an idea of hand-placement, hope this helped x

The intro was really easy thanks but then you went to fast on the second part.
Actually if you look at the authorized music notation it's in 6/8 time. They're all equivalent, except for the expression that is implied. If you do it in 4/4 time, the notes in the broken chords are all triplets. Some people don't like triplets. But, nonetheless, lewortuts has done a great job of reverse-engineering the way the piano was played on this song. An amazing job, because in the recording the piano is mostly drowned out by guitars and strings. The official notation is different.

This song is not classical. It is a POP song. You don't have to play the notes exactly as they are played in the record. This guy did a good job in providing the voicing for the chords. To those who are asking for the "2nd stanza" or verse 2 - the chords are the SAME as in the "1st stanza" 🤣 From music sheets you need to convert the written notes into actual actual notes on the keyboard. Well, this guy already provided the actual notes. 🤣🤣

Love your tutorial! A bit fast, but with knowledge of music theory, the progression is quite simple. It is a chord progression with moving lines within the chords.

About the fingering, I guess the complaints are referring to the fact that lewortuts seems to use finger 3 in that left hand as much as possible? Well, this tutorial is great anyhow. The naysayers can go figure out the correct fingering as a homework assignment! Since lewortuts can do so much with finger 3, if he ever wants to start using his other fingers he'll be even better than he is now, which is damned good. I think he's reverse-engineered the recording perfectly. Like!
