0:01 Don't these guys have an indicator on their steering wheel telling them how the front wheels are pointed? That poor left front dug as deep as it possibly could.
And yet the safety personnel are in jeans and t-shirts (no nomex suits here!) and dealing with burning gas/diesel/nitro using fire extinguishers the size of a coke bottle from a gas station.
I think it's a tiny extinguisher, we sold that size at my job and also even smaller ones that were the size of a hairspray can. Not effective against any larger fire but handy size and a good "first aide".
Apparently that sled wasn't weighted for a pull, though, it was just an exhibition. I looked into it a little more and they don't let vehicles properly compete if they don't have the safety equipment like dragster-style roll cages. Though the steam engine isn't going to go over about 4mph so I don't see why not. They should make an "open" or "exhibition" category for other vehicles to try a proper pull as long as they have common-sense safety procedures. You'd quickly see steam, diesel and electricity showing up these alcohol-fueled dragsters.
Would not be a bad idea.. always wonder what exactly a driver is expecting the machine to do once it touches down with the wheels locked hard right or left? Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
That very first guy ,had his wheel cranked looked like all the way to the wright Go back and watch him, he is not even looking straight ahead as a matter of fact he is looking into the crowd day dreaming not paying attention. Then the front comes down the tractor plants hard and goes right rolling on it's side. Stay safe. Watch out for the other guy people.
For the kind of sport that it is, it's pretty ridiculous how porly trained, equipped and ready they are to fight fires. Gallons and gallons of diesel, gas, oil, methanol, Nitrous and the like, and they come running with some spray cans intended to put out a grease fire in the kitchen at most. 😅
Why are the guys with fire extinguishers so slow? Lol. 2:35 guy was spraying the fire as if he couldn’t care less. They also have TINY fire extinguishers, i don’t get it.
Mostly making sure the engine isn't going to throw parts at them while its still running, also they're not trying to put out the fire so much as keep it from spreading to the rest of the engine, there isn't that much you can do while fluids are gushing out of there other than contain it. Also they have the small ones because the large ones are for situations where the driver is in immediate danger of being burned, you don't want to use those up unless it's a serious emergency.
do you expect everyone around to at all times just be hauling around large fire extinguishers? you can't just spray these people's engines with anything you can end up doing a lot more damage spraying some of those powder extinguishers around. the engine isn't going to melt..
Using cans of FireAde or similar for a full-on fuel fire is just completely NOT okay... I've been around this my whole life and I remember stuff from 10 years ago that was handled better than some of these and that is sad. Especially when they should know and do know the types of incidents that are usually going to happen and how to prepare for them, it's not like this is some sport that was teleported Down to Earth by aliens and no one has ever seen one before it doesn't know what to expect. LoL ..geezus

All of that horsepower is going to go somewhere, and those trucks and tractors have a mind of their own when you think their going to go straight there, not because of the horsepower that those guys put in them

Gotta admire the hiring of overweight boomers with tiny fire extinguishers who waddle over to a burning vehicle worth hundreds of thousands of dollars....... what could go wrong?

3:17 You know your day is ruined when three different colors of smoke come out all at the same time.
Round of applause for all the chevys that couldn’t even make it off the line 👏
Love how the one explodes and guy standing there doesn’t even flinch
Yea he must had 59 years of experience
WHEN fercrissake
I always enjoy the NTPA videos, but I especially LOVE the carnage compilation!
And that first video is why you never turn your steers in mid air
Excellent! 😀
My favorite section!!!
Thank you!

Great Carnage Video.
always keep the wheels straight.
Dang a lot of these were violent

What a fire ball out of lock n load😳
Bro was the first one is insane
I'm gonna roll over now Mr. Driver
Seen that one coming u have to keep ur front wheels straight
Yessir ... That guy was professional puller and look what he did .... dumbass award ...
@@stevealber9779 - Yep, and drive with the brakes.
Thanks!
Thank you for the Super!! 🏁
10:22 The announcer had no chill with this guy ☠️☠️☠️
It's nuts how much those IFS Chevy trucks Toe-In during the pull (and often breaking a tie rod).
the firefighters' skills seem to be matched only by their equipment.
First cow i seen tip in years of randomly watching these,... good thing for a roll cage! Thank you for the Time.
Curious, what do they spray on the fire in those little cans? Or is it like a small extinguisher?
I think it's a tiny extinguisher, we sold that size at my job and also even smaller ones that were the size of a hairspray can.

@@ErectedGasCan thanks!
It's called fireade. Works very well!
WD40
@@johnchaud9729 its not wd40!
Gotta love those KITCHEN fire extinguishers going up against a nitro-methane hemi on fire...
There is a video somewhere of the CASE 150 Steam Tractor pulling the sled all the way to the finish and out the exit.
Ya can pull about 50 plows.
but it makes about 5 tons of tourqe?
That thing could probably pull the planet mercury
Apparently that sled wasn't weighted for a pull, though, it was just an exhibition.

COME ON CHEVY, KEEP PULLING, THERE'S A NAPA STORE SOMEWHERE! lol that hand me dieing!
Why Chevy ever thought putting IFS on their trucks was a good idea is beyond me.
0:08 so...do you see what happens when you TURN THE WHEEL and the dang front wheels are 4 feet off the ground???? man these people...seriously.
Do not these drivers have a mark on their steering wheels. Like straight ahead at the top ?
Would not be a bad idea.. always wonder what exactly a driver is expecting the machine to do once it touches down with the wheels locked hard right or left?
Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
No 6 packs were hurt during these pulls
First clip: What did he think was going to happen?
Wow that’s amazing
The first clip seems like a rookie mistake.
nice tractor👍😁

Love that guy on the Massey, he can clearly see that the motor is on fire but it’s still running ok so he keeps it pinned till the end! 👍
Is the pull REALLY worth the engine?
I mean if they can afford to build the whole thing I would think it's worth it. Average tractor puller salary is $74,552 not including sponsorship.

So well prepared for a fire 🔥. I can piss more than some of puny extinguishers. 😝
Those track marshals with tiny toy fire extinguishers... What a joke.

No ULEZ here then.

So fire Extinguishers are endangered ? Never seen when there's a flame, wouldn't want to get it dirty 😮
the NTAA safety crew is way to sow
0:58 if that flagged was standing in the wrong place he would have been roasted.
It flips..1 second later...Everythings ok everybody..?
as in “nobody was seriously injured it’s just the tractor”
That one guy that said wd40 I might have done that and it ended well it’s called wd40 plus lighter equals flame thrower
All of that horsepower is going to go somewhere, and those trucks and tractors have a mind of their own when you think their going to go straight there, not because of the horsepower that those guys put in them
Crap fire extinguishers as always
What causes the large amounts of grey and white smoke?
Engine exhaust
Usually the gray and white smoke is partially burned oil going through the engine from a blown turbocharger.
I carnt believe the pissy little fire extinguishers they use. Get the bigger ones makes more sense.

Yall need better fuel lines, they keep popping off, gotta tighten more
3:29 is a V8 engine??
It is probably a V8 Perkins diesel.
5:02 Don't trust God to be a good mechanic. 😆
The fire fighting equipment at some of these tractor pulls are a joke.
just burning tens of thousands...ill stick with farm stock XD
