      I have zero interest in watching anything on players from clubs the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Celta Vigo (Spain), because these clubs are inconsequential, you know they're gonna lose or place in a mediocre mid-table position, no prize, no glory, undeserving of respect, perhaps even the embarrassment of relegation fights or actual relegation. If they did a show like that, the only players that should be featured are the ones playing for "real", or top, or prestigous clubs that have reputations, a chance to win something or play UCL every year, and not lucky one-season wonders without reputations like Union Berlin or Leicester City. It would be embarrassing to treat (for example) a mid-table player like if he was some star, he didn't earn the privilege.

    I don't think Weston gets enough credit for what he brings to the team off the pitch. His personality really glues a lot of these guys together. Flo seemed nervous at times. Weston would ham it up and draw the attention away from Flo. Flo was more chill from that.

    • @KenDaKingArrives
      @KenDaKingArrives Год назад +2

      If Weston doesn't earn his second chance at Juventus, and is sent away again to another cluster****, then his "personality" is irrelevant. In that case, he just looks like a guy who doesn't take his career or this sport seriously enough. Going forward, we don't need people like that on the national team.

    • @ZeroFamilon
      @ZeroFamilon Год назад +20

      @@KenDaKingArrives Damn, you're just a ray of sunshine buddy. You must kill it at parties. Wasn't implying that his form on the pitch doesn't need improvement. Just saying, if he is able to help Flo and others adapt to the team faster. There is a benefit in that.

    • @KenDaKingArrives
      @KenDaKingArrives Год назад +3

      @@ZeroFamilon I can agree with that. And fine, you can never be too sure about people. But that goes for you, too. However, you can be sure I wouldn't accept an invite to hang with a group that is overly fascinated by some mid players. We need to do better.

    • @ZeroFamilon
      @ZeroFamilon Год назад

      @@KenDaKingArrives I can agree with that as well. I've been saying since qualifiers that our players are more hype then actual substance. But I don't think that's the fault of the players. US media and fanbase over hyped them and Euro teams are buying into it because they want to break into the US market. Problem is they get to these clubs and don't have the ability to back the hype, so they struggle under the expectation. I don't think it's the work ethic of our players that's the issue

    • @KenDaKingArrives
      @KenDaKingArrives Год назад +1

      @@ZeroFamilon It's the insufficient training/coaching they get growing up, and/or the probable insufficient dedication to practicing growing up, and these kids may look up to the right players but won't accept or consider the sacrifices they'd need to make to be even a quarter as good. They are told all their life they are good players even if they don't make it to "real" clubs later in their development. The proper standard for players isn't set, the coaching & training is insufficient, too many players fall through the cracks because of "A" reason or "B" reason and so on. What I'm trying to say is the football culture isn't developed to where it needs to be in this country yet.

      @@nFWAYGo ok, that's fine, but how about we focus on who has the job now instead of this revisionist history that a lot of people can't seem to let go? People are acting like Greg held the team back when he did the opposite for a pool that was at a really low point during and post Klinsmann. And, this is not even me backing Greg for a second term because I think we need to freshen up our ideas to move forward, but I'm not ignorant to the good things he's done that many would like to excuse away for what ever reason, or would have you believe that the team only won because of the players, which my retort would be if that was the case why couldn't we win whenever we wanted to? Point is, this pool is not where many think it is, yes there is talent, but we're ways away from competing for a semi final or final of a major tourney until our pool becomes impactful players at their clubs, not bench players or in relegation battles, etc.

    • @ronniethomas8780
      @ronniethomas8780 Год назад +1

      @nFWAYGo well we'll agree to disagree because while Greg got some things wrong, not putting away easy chances turning the ball over in the oppositions half and having mental errors defensively did more damage in terms of us not qualifying higher in wcq and in the WC. And not qualifying first in wcq means nothing, it's a grind and just qualifying is the what's important and only the people who don't like Greg and who look to hold anything against bring up where we qualified, and tbh how many iterations if the USMNT have qualified first in its history? And finally, talent doesn't always equate to success, and the fact you keep mentioning talent instead of focusing how many of our players have regressed and can't stay healthy to me says you're more focused on management instead of player development, or lack thereof, bc these players are not where they should be or could be at this point but a lot of them are still really young

    "...compete against the elite and international football. How do we win high pressure, high intensity, high stake knockout games. These are the moments where we build that resiliency... and we have the opportunity to challenge ourselves in those moments"
    Shame on you USSF... the current NL and GC do nothing to accomplish coach Callahan's statement above.
    Except for UEFA that plays two NL games, all other Confederations are idle this summer. It's too late now, but if you were serious about a good showing at Copa 2024 and WC 2026, you could've had moved this year's NL finals to September since there are no WCQ for CONCACAF host nations. Then, could've organized a one-time Gold Cup special edition of CONCACAF 12 top ranked teams with the best 12 teams from the other four idle confederations.
    It could've been played/finished in June giving players enough time off without compromising their club teams for pre-season.
    Japan, South Korea, Australia (made it into the Final 16 in Qatar.)
    Morocco, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia (are top nations in their region.)
    Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon (are very good nations to compete with.)
    New Zealand (is catching up and can be a good opponent for concacaf teams.)
    I would've envisioned a difficult but exciting GC 2023, instead the USMNT gets to play the usual power houses of central america and the caribbean. There will be little preparation for next summer's Copa 2024. The USMNT will have just two weeks to gel then is expected to compete with the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador...good luck with that, even middle table like Peru, Chile, Paraguay are tough to beat.
    Sorry to say, but the USSF has no vision.

      We don't even have the players anymore to talk like this. We can't compete on equal footing with actual high-level international teams with all these flops and mid-table players, relegation-level players, and 2nd division players, because the high-level teams don't use these types of players. Those teams feature stars, and their WORST players are mid-table, relegation, or domestic players doing well at their clubs, unlike US. Even Canada is doing better than us in this regard. All we got left that merely passes for "good" players now, are Pulisic, Reyna, Musah, Balogun, and maybe Weah. This has to be the most insular, delusional, and embarrassing statement from the federation I've seen yet. Defying and being in denial of reality will never get us to the level we need to reach.

      @@KenDaKingArrives I agree with you. Including the GK, we only have 6-8 good players, Ream is old, Adams is injured and others are too young to say they'll become solid internationals.
      My post above was about USSF not having vision to organize a high-level competition this summer with our best players to prepare for next summer's Copa 2024 to be played in the US against south america elite teams.
      The USMNT has no coach and is still integrating new players in its starting 11. The opportunity is gone, wasted, and according to the FIFA calendar for the next 12 months, there will only be 3 times when players will be released for international duty. Our "A" team will get together three times, not enough to develop chemistry and be ready to compete with elite teams next summer.
