Trump killed the border security deal - 2024.
Sick fact - the country was in pandemic lockdown under Trump and most of his border Executive Orders were public health based which ended once Biden reopened the country form pandemic restrictions.

I live in coastal San Diego and these empty pontoon boats bobbing up and down in the water are a common sight.
Supplying illegal border crossing services is HUGE business. Cartel can charge 6-7K per crossing to foreign nationals (Chinese, Russian, etc).
So it isn’t just securing the border. It’s way beyond that at this point. It’s also closing the supply mechanisms, which is highly incentivized to remain open.

As an American of Mexican ethnicity, living in California, I can tell you that that video caught drug smugglers. The bags, heavy coats and the fact that they were fit-looking healthy men and the decent boat, give it up.

I work on the beach in san diego. About every 3 to 4 months, we find a couple boats on the beach with empty waterbottles and lifejackets and no occupants in site.
