What Aqua has done is absolutely correct. When someone is grieving, don't try to deny their sadness by asking them to cheer up, don't lecture them by giving any motivation, just be present and listen to them is more than enough.

Turns out Aqua has more emotional maturity than a lot of far older and more socially experienced people, huh. Because she is absolutely right. Trying to cheer up Shion would be irresponsible. The best she could do is to be there and give Shion the time and space she needed to mourn. I imagine that this emotional support is a big reason why she could overcome it so quickly.
One of my colleagues has a big brain for academic stuff... but for some reason he was quite the hated in my department. When he asked the reason to me i asked him a question "what would you say if someone is being sad coz they just lost their cat due to death and the reason being food poison?" He said "you should care about what food you give to your cat" he would describe this qnswer as an expression of care and cheering

Someone like your colleague obviously isn't the most empathic person to put it mildly, but that is fine, because not everyone needs to be the same way. Such pragmatic thinking also has great merit, and in actuality, he's not wrong at all, it's just that a grieving person needs different things in that moment, and that is where empathic people come in and provide the emotional support required.

What goes around comes around. When Subaru was crying and depressed because her Live was cancelled last year, Shion was one of the girls who immediately came over to her house to cheer her up. All she needs is to actually make someone around her aware that she is in pain and they would come to her side no question. Because everyone likes Shion and acknowledges her kindness.
So there was also the same situation that I found in yt (just pointing this out btw as reference) its about someone grieving, and we know what we are gonna do is call, that's the first thing we are gonna do after founding out about the situation, checking if they're alright or okay. And after the call ends the person grieving is crying once again, what i'm trying to say here is Aqua did the best thing she could do, coming to check in Shion's state and comforting her also face to face. I'm not trying to say that calling over the phone and checking on that person is a bad thing its just that the lack of connection with each other f2f. And what Aqua did to Shion is the most wholesome thing to me in the current situation. And i'm also happy that Shion is getting better.
