Great video! I love this formatting! Your previous formatting was also great! As an AMEX holder do you feel you get more valuable by using points with Marriott compared to Hilton?
This vlog style video was amazing. Great to switch it up on us like this every once. It's giving lifestyle travel meets credit card finance! Great video, and I'll be thinking about the Moxy for my next visit to NYC!
I was checking around on the point value today for a hilton room, and found that 1,000 points only knocked off $4.60 of the bill, that's a point value of $0.0046 each that same value of points of $4.60 they are selling for $10
I grew up in New Jersey and had regular trips to all parts of NYC, so to me it's a little weird whenever I see NYC tourist like videos, but I get it, first time I flew into San Francisco I thought it was the prettiest city to fly into during the day time. To this day, I still love flying/descending into San Francisco.
@@AskSebby yes, as part of a NYC tour(checkthe box), don't make it a dedicated must stop. It's warm, so all the animals will be out. It's been over 30yrs since I've been there 🤣
Sebby I’m a fan of your videos. Helped me get the Cap One Venture X this past November. Been a great card. I need your advice: is it worth it for me to keep the Legacy Bonvoy Amex card (~$95 annual fee)? I got it in 2012. Since getting the Venture X, it’s gotten virtually no use. I can’t decide whether its worth the fee. Thanks!
Amazing content Sebby! Love your videos! My question would be regarding my confusion hearing the word certificate being thrown around for the five nights you guys stayed. Are you referring to the annual reward nights you receive with the cards? If so, aren't those only one a year? Is that to say you used all most of your annual certificates on this trip alone? Would appreciate the clarification! Thanks!
Nice video. We typically only go to hotels that sleep 5 for my family so we can all stay in one room. I had to cancel the regular Bonvoy card as it was crazy difficult to find rooms that sleep 5 for only 35,000 points. Not impossible, but incredibly difficult. Keeper card for families? Probably not. Yet we’re keeping our Brilliants.
@@AskSebby For 5 guests it’s typically rooms that sleep 6 anyway as I’ve personally never seen a room with 1 queen and 3 twin beds before. There’s also no chance for a room upgrade to a larger room because you’ve already booked the largest available anyway. Unless it’s an upgrade to a nicer view for the rooms for 6 which has happened for us. With 3 children there’s a chance for free desserts sent to your room for the whole family which nobody talks about. Only us parents know about the free ice cream I guess. Lol.

I’m at work so I’m half way paying attention lol, but did I see that the Westin grand central was something like $800 before your points were applied?!? Why is it so high? I’ve stayed there recently and it was
AMEX should allow one guest with the new change instead of completely taking away complimentary guest. I think making someone spend $75k to bring a guest is a bit much.
Why do reviews of hotels often include if their status was recognized at check in? I've seen it on forums and blogs, is it just so they know they are getting all available perks of their status?
I think it's just to be thorough and help people understand the perks. i.e., welcome gift for one hotel might be bottles of water while another might be a fruit platter.
Hey my brother is in the military and he can have me as an authorized user for the Amex plat and have the fee waived. My questions are, if I go with the amex plat will I have the same benefits as my brother would or not fully? Would I still be able to get the intro bonus if I meet the 6k in 6 months? Also i want to get the amex gold but that’s for myself (no authorized user), could I transfer the points from the plat to the gold? Or would that be stupid? Sorry for these questions just started binge watching Sebby’s videos as of 2 weeks ago and new to the CC game
Obviously not Sebby, but I can sort of help you. You can really only help the card holder reach the sign up bonus, there is not one that is awarded to the AU separately. The whole point is they are rewarding someone with a line of credit opened with AMEX, since you aren't the primary card holder- they don't give you additional sign up bonuses. You can however help your brother meet the 6k min spend by being added. I would ask your brother if you are getting the platinum's "gold" authorized user (free for everyone) or the actual platinum authorized user card ($175 for up to 3 people). Not to be confused with the actual "gold card" by AMEX. The platinum card's gold level AU is fine but provides no real benefit for you. If you get the true platinum AU, you get additional perks like global entry/TSA pre check credit, hotel status, and lounge access. It sounds like he is getting the better of the 2x options for free by a military perk, which is cool. Keep in mind you don't get your own pool of points as an authorized user on his platinum card. They are essentially just all his, so in order to transfer them out you would basically be taking his points - so definitely double check that he knows you're doing that. If I were you, I would just keep that card for the perks like I mentioned, but not for your own use. My dad gave me the American Airlines card and I only use that to get into the Admiral's Club- I don't spend anything on it. Hope that helps.
@@woopigsooie93 hey man first off i want to say appreciate you taking the time to reply, it really helped a lot! Also I think you’re right about that then I’ll just get the actual platinum AU and get the perks that comes with it and not use the card if I’m not really getting any points. I talked to my bro and he said he’ll give me the pass and everything so I could use the points so I guess it works but I’m not really gonna spend much or any if I can’t get the bonus. Thanks!!
@@bryandegante7654 yeah no problem! It’s confusing but a fun hobby to dabble in so I totally get that it can seem overwhelming at times. Or just flat out confusing. One last tidbit is that Amex is unique that they offer one sign up bonus per person per card per lifetime. Basically if you get a platinum card as a primary, which you may eventually do, you only get the platinum’s sign up bonus once ever. So they’re pretty strict on giving them out. Best of luck! I know I’m just a random stranger but happy to help if I can if you have random questions as you get into the CC game.
