Can you just break down every single song they’ve ever done? These guys deserve it
One of the greatest bands ever, imo.
My favorite band !!!! I love everything about them! The only thing I didn’t like was that they broke up 😢 I really hope you listen to the rest of their stuff. Thanks for reacting to Oceansize! ❤️
more reactions of this band need to be on youtube. so complex and ethereal and amazing and aggressive all at once!
I ve seen this band live a couple of times and I ve seen many, many bands live but I can honestly say that Oceansize performances probably are the best I ve ever experienced. The switches between mellow and loud and their excessive( which is a good thing believe me) use of their pedals makes you become one with their music, very special. A shame they don t exist anymore, but who knows, maybe they will reappear someday in the future. If so, I really recommend you go and see them live.
It's always interesting to find someone else discovering the obscure stuff I listen to. I bought this album at a live show in a tiny bar in Seattle after bugging the singer about the band's name, I kept thinking he was saying Ocean's Eyes. They rocked my world that night and I 've been jamming to this record since 2003. Cheers!
Aw man, you've met Vennart? As an American fan of like 15 years, I'm SUPREMELY jealous. I will forever be bummed by the fact that I never got to catch these guys live while they were still together. Oceansize is a top 10 band for me.
First time viewer here, saw you did this about one of my favorite songs and stayed for the whole thing. Great content, subscribed. Thank you!
The day somebody does an Effloresce album review is gonna be the renaissance of Oceansize I swear to god.
Oh I saw this reactions thumbnail before and discovered your channel through other reactions today. I love OCEANSIZE, what a great band! I hope you do more of them in the future, they were amazing!
I have always described them as more proggy-edgy Radiohead, they create the most amazing wall of sound's and also their slow parts are so melodic and beautiful. In my opinion, their best work is Frames, 3rd album out of 4 from 2007, any song from there would be hugely appreciated :) Trail of Fire is their masterpiece (imo), "Unfamiliar" and "Savant" are so emotional songs but can't go wrong with anything from Oceansize, they were so creative.
Massive Bereavement IS the song. I would love it if you did a reaction to it. It’s the one that got me into this band.
that pattern work you mention at 29:50 is also done by King Crimson sometimes - for example in Construcktion of Light (live) or Level Five (live)
Regarding Catalyst's intro and your commentary on 29:40 : there are two guitars alternating for the main line, while the singer plays a 3rd guitar with random isolated strums (it's not really random, but it syncopates randomly with the two other guitars). That 3rd guitar was played by the singer live and it's the track that's responsible for the scratchy sounds on each final bar for this line's repetitions.
Very cool analysis. Oceansize is my all-time favourite band, your review was amazing! ^_^
I love this band, thanks for the reaction and analysis, hope to see more of them here
I was 21 when I discovered these 20 years ago. Been my favourite band ever since. Excellent band
So underrated. Love these guys. More please
So nice seeing Catalyst blow someone's mind for the first time. I listened to that end section so many times trying to figure it out! It's a 6/8 groove, I think. But all kinds of shenanigans going on, too.
Just found your channel through this Oceansize reaction video. Really nice analysis of what's going on in their music! Definitely my favourite band of all time. Hope you'll check out (and maybe react to) some of their later stuff, personally love "Frames" album the most, I'd love to see your reaction to "Only Twin" ;) Such a waste they split up, but their vocalist&guitar player still records as Vennart, you might like his stuff too.
Another recommendation - "Being Human" by Bent Knee (especially Live at Hand Forged Works version) - I think you'll like it, it's also quite proggy and the vocal performance is just mind blowing.
what a band. Criminally understimated
such a great album and generally overlooked, truly sublime band - the incorporate a vast range of emotion and sound and silence in such a powerful and relatable way. Top tier in my book along with King Crimson and Pink Floyd but more fun
Wow I haven't heard Oceansize for YEARS. But I was obsessed with the Effloresce album when it came out and loved that they were local boys. It was on repeat an unhealthy amount. Thanks for bringing them back! Your reaction to this first time was very similar to my own at the age of 15!
i didn't know this band either, thanks for reacting to this, love it :)
I'm in love with my car... have not heard that song mentioned in ages. Love your broad view and background
One of my all time favorite bands I discovered them supporting Cave in at the Manchester road house in February of 2003 I was 17 years old and I got to see probably my two favorite bands ever on the same show.
First time hearing this and it's nice. Good stuff. Would love to see Lovebites on your channel again. Or Galneryus.
Thanks!
I first heard these guys while deployed to Iraq. They totally rocked my world and this was my theme song for that deployment. Such a tight sounding band.
"my goodness" indeed
That thing you mentioned about wringing out as much as possible from one idea - their drummer Mark Heron does that to amazing effect in the long 11/8 intro to a later song ruclips.net/video/7xXy4c1P4B0/видео.htmlsi=ENItiZHXsixFWHLi
Keren, mantap JW 👍
Well... i feel The smashing pumpkins also would be there... beside Radiohead JW hhe...
Yeah the format of this song its very rare... unpredictable maybe to long for the intro for someone... for very first time its just like "Instrumental song" without voice and lyric in there... or this is just for two songs... JW hhe...
But anyway i always like when you translate the song in to the piano... like we can more understand the song... very indeed...
Just very good job JW hhe...
New to the channel. Thought I'd throw a couple of suggestions at ya.

Saya sangat suka reaction anda....karna ngerti musik...
Another band to learn...
It is so cool watching you absorb what the musicians are playing 😎 I personally did not care for the 1st track and I left wondering Why 🤦🏼 Keep bringing Us Awesome reactions! I hope you got out to see beautiful Ireland, much respect and love for your passion for music 🙏
A slightly proggy Smashing Pumpkins if you ask me!
Singer reminds me of Seal haha. Not that that's a bad thing.
@@Qyngali When I first heard Oceansize I was also into Incubus and I used to liken them to a proggy Incubus...so I get what you mean. But now they just sounds like Oceansize because my ears know them so well.

I like this. I personally feel this band would greatly benifit from a much more dynamic drummer. The guy was fine and did his job, but the guitar work was fantastic and a good singer. I'd love to hear what a truly creative and more technical and dynamic drummer would do.
Btw I got some good Incubus vibes throughout the song.
😂 Good one.
Eesh. The drummer is the driver of this band. He makes their songs “float”. It’s incredible. He is probably my favorite drummer specifically because of how creative and technical he is.
I can’t believe you said that about the drummer?!?!? He’s phenomenal!
@@AngelaSmith-tz7wr pretty sure Vault Force is retarted.
Dude, I really hope you're trolling, because Mark Heron is a CRIMINALLY underrated drummer. He is seriously talented, and this band has been an inspiration to my own songwriting for 15+ years. If you really want to hear his range then listen to some of Oceanside's other albums. Specifically check out the "Frames" album. Awesome work.
