  • When developing speed is at 2.5x. I love both these engines for their own reasons. For me Clickteam Fusion 2.5 is best, just because of quick development and ease of use.

Interesting comparison. I've also used them both and like them. Even though it's very easy to start with Fusion, it's less scalable I should say. You can write event blocks so easily and fast but reading it later on could be harder once you have 50+ events. But with GameMaker day-1 and day-100 will have similar complexity. It's easier to reuse logic and code with GMS.
I do recommend Clickteam for platform games but if your game will have deeper game logic beyond the game mechanics (usually the case for top down rpg games for example) it's better to use a coding engine like GameMaker. Platform games usually mostly consist of game mechanics and less story & game logic.
Clickteam Fusion is more similar to GDevelop5. Same event blocks logic. I liked your AppGameKit 3D tutorials. Good quality and rare to find. Will follow your work. Keep up the good work.

I know I'm a year late, but you can remedy Clickteam's unscalable event system with an extension called XLua, which lets you write Lua code in the editor. Might definitely be worth investigating if you want to get more out of Fusion :)

great comparison! please keep coming up with more tutorials for the awesome ClickTeam Fusion which even though it is not recommended for complex projects there are numerous professional not-basic-at-all games published on stores right now.
