Yeah I use this all the time. Especially for weird world gen etc. I guess you could tower from the bottom of the ground with ropes to get the same effect, but that's less cool and a waste of ropes.
@@CraftsmanOfAwsomenes its 10 rope each way there's not more rope in each coil but it is useful when the cliff has some weird proportions like if you need to get to the dungeon but you cant reach it with normal rope then that is useful anything else it's just a slightly faster and harder to use rope

In my experience players simply don't pick up rope after it's been placed, so throwing a rope you can jump onto uses less rope. Not that saving ropes matters, but I'm just trying to clarify I didn't mean that rope coils materialize more rope. If that were the case that would be an intentional dupe.
Until you get a solid vertical movement item (so, some kind of cloud in a bottle,) rope coils are amazing for ascending in caves (Which you'll need to do at that stage, no magic mirror.) Platforms work too, but ropes are usually quicker, and work much better at lower levels where there are no background walls to place platforms on.
They're helpful before you get a grappling hook, specifically for getting up those weird ledge formations where the top is closer to you than the middle
for the basement of my very first house, i had no room for staircases, and had no idea you could place rope, AND didnt know platforms existed. I spent 5 minutes throwing the rope coil, failing, and redoing it. Good times.

That's like saying literally any function a wooden broadsword has Excalibur does better. Like, duh. They're from completely different portions of the game. To get snake charmer's flute you have to be able to survive a pretty tough area whereas to get ropes all you need to do is break a pot.

You're using it wrong. You could reach that spot with normal rope, so you wasted rope by using a coil. Coils are meant to get access to higher up places, before you get any substantial amount of personal movement

I've primarily used Rope Coils to make the rope for hellevators significantly faster than regularly placing rope. Seriously, it's like four times the speed. Beyond that, it's a great thing for exploring caves and those tense moments when you desperately need an escape option from worms.

I just use the rope I get from pots and chests…. I don’t use the rope to craft it into something else lol
