Same energy as when he was talking about the heart pieces in Link to the Past: "Dude, did you see my playthrough? I know where all of them are." "Is there another one around here?" "Dude, I don't fuckin' know."
I was actually a bit sad that they didn't get into the story, like at all. Even the dad and daughter in the valley scene was glanced over like not a single sad note during that whole scene. Good bits, and love to see Arin angry while getting yelled at for never using a shield.
I'm glad you realized in a later playthrough that the side-quests were important, but jeez. When you don't use what the game offers you, and you complain that it's too hard, it becomes very difficult to remain on your side. This is also why you struggled with Dampé - you weren't targeting him. Yes, that side-quest can be tedious, but targeting makes a HUGE difference.
The same thing happened with Twilight Princess. No there’s no sidequests, but you learn important combat moves from the Golden Wolf/Hero’s Shade that make the game super fun and give an entire new layer to the gameplay Zelda needed. Yet, Arin would take entire minutes to kill enemies in the later parts of the game because he competely forgot, and hardly blocked or dodged lmao
I find it funny that right now in this part of the playthrough Arin hated this game with a burning passion. Then after he decided to work on building up his character from all the side quests, he genuinely started to appreciate some of Majora's features. Crazy the difference between the mindsets
All this time later and Arin never realized that you don’t even need to use the light arrows to fight Gomez. You can use the bombs to clear the bats and go in for attacks. Majora’s Mask is my favorite game in the world and there is a bunch of secrets in every corner of the game. The first time I played this game, I beat Gomez with the bombs and never used the bow once. Arin’s struggling is just as funny now as it was back then, and the fact that they eventually went back and beat the game means that we can all laugh at Arin’s pain without feeling like horrible people. Thank you Game Grumps!
Reminds me of facing Helmasaur King in ALTTP as a kid. I thought the ONLY way to beat him was hit his helm with bombs three times... not once understanding that, like almost every boss in the game, you can defeat him with the item found in the dungeon (in this case the hammer). So as a kid, I'd try to bomb him time and again, and when I ran out, I'd have to use the Magic Mirror to leave the dungeon and get more. I thought it was a dumb mechanic because he moved around so much and it was hard to predict the bombs, not realizing that what I was doing was *technically* the secret way to beat him.
Yeah, I get what you mean. For the first stage of the Majora fight, your supposed to use the light arrows to bring the mask down to the ground in order to wail on it with your sword. I don’t know why, but when I first fought Majora I assumed none of the magic arrows would work after I tried the regular arrows and they did nothing. Confused, I started going through all of my items in order to try and find a way to hit him. Eventually, I found out that there IS another way to hit the mask, and it’s in one of your transformation masks. You might think it’s the bubble attack from the Deku mask, but it’s actually the boomerang fin attack of the Zora mask. That’s right, you can transform into a Zora, through your fins at the flying mask, and then tear it apart with your melee attacks. Most people probably just use the light arrows, but my stupidity allowed me to find a way to beat Majora’s first stage without wasting any arrows or magic. Zelda games are full of these fun little workarounds, and Majora’s Mask has some of the coolest.
@@thedarknessmagician5234 I'm in the other end of that Majora boss fight... you can use light arrows!? I always used Zora fins because it saved on magic
I got through the dungeon, but ran out of time trying to beat Gyorg as a kid, and had to use the Song of Time. I just put the game down and never picked it back up for years afterward because I didn't want to do most of that dungeon all over again xD
That was honestly me with the shadow temple in OoT. I just could not figure it out. Same with the Stone Temple, but it's my brother's game, so I've never beaten it.

Someone should make a romhack of one of the two N64 Zelda games and just fill it to the brim with shit Arin hates and then send it to him to play on Game Grumps. The Legend of Battle Kid: Sequelitis
37:37 Sounds like we need a Threequelitis! Maybe staring guests: Dan and [Co-Animator]! A OoT v. MM comparison would restore 2020! [And finally thwart those dreaded Backstreet Boys]
37:12 improvements for future zeldas we can glean from arin's being pissed off. 1) there should be a teleporter that spawns in mini boss rooms (as many handheld zeldas do), and it should happen BEFORE you fight that mini boss upon entering the room. that way you can instantly get back there later, even on further cycles. the temple should also be designed such that no important thing should be required from the earlier part of the temple after the mini boss, that you aren't already guaranteed to have by the time you fight him. so essentially, once you reach the mini boss, the entire earlier half of the temple is 1) fully accessible if you want to be a completionist with the fairties, and 2) no longer necessary if you want to start from that checkpoint. that way each dungeon would have a true halfway checkpoint, just as it currently has a checkpoint at the boss, once you've beaten the boss. so at most you ever have to re-complete HALF of the dungeon if the cycle restarts, and you could start right back at the boss even if you have not yet beaten that boss. boom i fixed mm. 2) the dungeons should progress in a flower pattern like link between worlds, where the dungeon starts in the hub and is mostly accessible, and each "petal" is a puzzle to expand the explorable area. instead of most 3d zelda dungeons, which are long strings curled into a ball. linear and tedious and not zelda ish. 3) the other big one is the tedious bank interface. there should be two slots you can just walk up to and interact with. a deposit box, and a withdrawal box. interacting brings up the number menu, and you take or add what you need, without having to deal with the guy again. BOOM fixed.
