Dude I was looking for a video like this for so long, just trying to figure out what rod to use for the magdraft, and here you come and answer my question beautifully. Thank you.
Do you have any tricks to keep this thing from falling apart? I've recently started fishing these things in the river and I've been through 3 the last 4 or 5 trips. The smallmouth absolutely slaughter these things but at almost 20$ a pop that's to expensive. I've tried other things that's similar and cheaper but they don't hit it like the magdraft.
Great bait and I caught a few nice fish on it. After day two it got bit in half by something. It does work but I don't think its worth $15.00. I catch nice fish on a chatterbait that cost significantly less than the magdraft.
Lol I picked up a couple 6'6" daiwa rods and figured that'd be an all around good start for my new bait casters, most baits they do well with. But deep cranks and my first magdraft I got yesterday takes a little skill to cast😂 gotta get a heavier rod for em but hey I caught a good 3.5 yesterday on it!
You mentioned short strikes. There is a video tactical bassin put out about using wire leader and making a trailer hook set up to help with short strike fish and better your hook up ratio.
Just bought my first one today been checkin em out at my local bait shop and after bout 3 months of wantin to buy one I went in and got a 6 inch magdraft in silver shad and a 1 oz megabass dark sleeper little swimbait bout to go throw em both and see how they do
@@johnnyp2155 only thrown it 3 times so far but threw it for a little over an hour the first 2 times and the 3rd time I threw it for a little over 2 hours in the morning and never even got a bite or seen any followers but my ponds the bass are super finicky and don't take much so gotta go try it at the lake but swims amazing
Best in the market… I find that I have to boil the later half of the bait for about 30sec to have a better tail kick. Only on the 6inch. The 8inch kicks just fine.
Do you favor somewhat shorter rods (there's so many 7'9 and 8'0 rods marketed specifically as swimbait rods, sometimes rated as only 1-3 or 1-4 oz. baits) because you would rather sacrifice some extra casting distance for more accurate casting, considering you maybe focus more upon shorter range cover like docks, etc. rather than offshore, open water structure fishing? Just wondering why you would choose a 735 Dobyns Fury over the FR795SB rod? I ask because I may buy a rod to supplement one I already have (jig rod), so I can have a couple rigged on the deck of my boat and could expand down the road to the 8" Magdraft with the 795, and also to get a feel for the longer handle often on the rods built for swimbaits, even the 6" Magdraft.
If you already have a jig rod to throw the 6 then definitely buy the specialty swimbait rod but I’ve found I like the versatility of the shorter rod for other techniques instead of it being specialty
SO I have a 7'4" Daiwa Tatula frog rated up to 2oz. It's got a pretty stiff tip. Do you think it would be ok for the 6in Magdraft Freestyle with a 5/0 Trokar hook?
Bit older of a video, but just ordered some of these bad boys...6", 8" & 1 10"...had to get a 10"! 😄 seems the 8 & 10 would have more drawing power, with the bigger profile...I've had 2 lb'ers eat a 10" Rat, so I'd think they'd go after this, too...but I'm sure I'll use the 6" more often. Have u experimented with the 8 or 10"?
With a7:1.1 gear ratio. You are practically burning that thing by the guys at tactical Bassin standards. Have you fished it “painfully slow” in the late winter early spring like they fish a wedge style tailed S.B.? So the thing is on damn bottom?
Bro 7 7lbers follow it an u couldn't get one to commit, first time I used 1st bite 5lber then a 8lber about a dozen other fish then it was tore all to peices, everyone of em choked it ,great bait will by more
What bait would you like to see a how to video on next?
Do the Live Target lures
Hula Popper

Thank you!
Great job with this video, exactly what I was looking for as I picked up a couple of these lures. Thanks!
I usually use the albino mag draft for striper out in the California but this video got me hyped to hit some local lakes strictly with a mag draft!👍
Good luck!
Good video man. Subbed. Gonna be throwin the magdraft tonight.
Good luck!
Great information! IRod Genesis Bailey Swimbait Rod is nice for this application as well!
For sure!
That’s awesome ! I’ve got several mag drafts . Haven’t caught anything on them yet. I’m gonna have to throw them more often !
They are pretty great under the right conditions!
Quickly living your channel Nathan great job 👏
Thank you!
Got a few, but fishin slow is easier said than done. Going out tomorrow to try again.
Good luck!

Nice!

thanks for the tips I just started fishing the magdraft

Great video Nathan got to give it a try
Good luck!
Awesome Narhan
God Bless you

I love the freestyle!
They are great!

Am I good with 12lb carbon on a medium heavy baitcaster. I’m throwing the 6 inch.
Just got one today going to try it out on my Lavante perfect pitch rod. Wish me luck
You’ll catch them!
Good video bud. Bass definitely love that MagDraft.
Yes they do!
You mentioned short strikes. There is a video tactical bassin put out about using wire leader and making a trailer hook set up to help with short strike fish and better your hook up ratio.
I’ll have to check it out!
Hay man milt would that work in a pond thanks Milton
Just bought my first one today!! Excited to try it out!! Thanks for the video!!
No problem! Good luck!

Interesting!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 I find the 6inch a little stiff. Would have to reel faster to get tail kick. I like to slow roll all the big swim baits.
Great video. Coming back into the season! I’m excited to try it.
Good luck!
Great video bro thank you for all the inf
Thank you!
Awesome video!
thanks for the feedback bud💯
No problem!
Great videos!!! Thanks for the great info
Thank you!
Would like to see the freestyle as well. Do you think those would work on raystown?
I’ll work on it! I’d use the rigged one up shallow around the prespawn spawn post spawn there I bet it would!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 did u make one for the freestyle?
Thank you sir, wonderful job
Can you tell us what to pair this with when you buy the freestyle type?
Usually a Jighead or an owner beast hook
Awesome content. Just bought a couple!
Nice! Good luck they catch them!
Have you compared the 6” vs 8” ?
Do they both need to be fished the same way or with the weight of the 8” can you speed it up some ?
I’ve only ever tried the 6 inch!
Picked one up, haven’t used it yet.
Give it a shot! Good luck!
Would the 8 inch be too big for curwensville dam or prince gallitzin?
I like the 6 but if you have big bass they’ll eat the 8!
That's Awesome! 😎
Thanks!
What rod is that when you are talking about the bait?
I don’t remember honestly!
If u live north. No shad. Some smelt.but not same size. We do have rainbow
The bait's duribility was the first question I have and more so now. Tell me about how the bait holds up please. TY.
No denying they will rip as it’s a soft plastic, depending how hard you use them will determine how fast and a little super glue can go a long way
Thoughts on braid with these lures? Idea is to use my 7'3" frog rod and not have to swamp out reels.
I’ve never tried it I would prefer fluorocarbon though
just tie on a fluorocarbon leader and you'll be fine
Milt here again I know this is a year ago but it’s a first for me is that the only hook on that mag draft and how do you hook it up milt
I just tie it direct to the eye of the lure
Megabass should send you a sales commission check. I bet you sold 10,000 Magdraft’s with your video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!😂
I have a question. How do you store these baits? I have a few to try and want to take care of them. Love your channel
I store them back in the original clamshell packaging
Awesome video
Thanks!
Did you use a snap or tie direct
Tie direct
So will a 6,6 rod med heavy work 12 lb line?
It could probably handle it but might be a little light
Do you favor somewhat shorter rods (there's so many 7'9 and 8'0 rods marketed specifically as swimbait rods, sometimes rated as only 1-3 or 1-4 oz. baits) because you would rather sacrifice some extra casting distance for more accurate casting, considering you maybe focus more upon shorter range cover like docks, etc. rather than offshore, open water structure fishing? Very helpful. I noticed you never pause it. Does it nosedive when you pause?
I little bit but it works best on a straight slow steady retrieve
This bait stays true when you pause it
@@FishingWithDL it nose dives at about 1.2 feet per second
Very good I like it😂
Thanks!

I can work on that!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 pretty sweet watching your videos brother!
which size are used in this video? The 6, 8, or 10? thank you nathan!
6 inch!
i heard at 9:47 u were using the 6
@@nathanquincefishing7122 thanks so much bro, im almost complete on watching all your videos! Love this channel man!
Is that the FR795sb? And how do you like it?
It’s a 734 or 735 in the video!
If you haven't done a cideo on the freestyle I'd love to see one!
I can work on it!
Have you tried the 6th Sense Sweep
I have not yet!
How long does the bait hold up ? Tha ks
Depends on the size of fish and how they eat it or if there are like around. They are surprisingly durable for a soft plastic
Nathan can you use this bait/technique in the early season ( water 45-50 F) or do you wait until
It warms a bit ?
You can if the fish are shallow and have clear water!
Is your reel meant for swimbait fishing or good for it?
Yep!
What model dobyns is that?
734!
That look's like my lake here in N.E. Indiana...where you located at?
Pennsylvania!
What color should I use for Florida?
Brownie may be a perfect golden shiner imitation!
@@nathanquincefishing7122 I was thinking brown or white. I'm new the to swimbait game

Cant believe smallie eat that!!...cool
It’s pretty crazy!
Do you get hung up a lot with the hook being exposed on the bottom of the bait?
I do not I usually fish it over the fish it’s so big they come up for it
@@nathanquincefishing7122 ok, thanks. I’m going to order a couple 6” and an 8”. Thanks for the reply and video. Just subscribed.
@@gar58 how are you liking them?
Can they be used for saltwater
I don’t see why not!
How much did those smallies weigh!? Great video
4-5 pounds!

savage gear pulse tail line thru bluegill or savage gear pulse tail bluegill loose body.

Have you ever noticed that the mag draft rolls a lot? If so any tips on how to prevent that?
Yes it rolls when you fish it too fast so if it’s rolling reel slower!
Yeah your retrieving too fast. It's a super slow roll
@@nathanquincefishing7122 I thought they had fixed those rolling issues...no?
Came here looking for some answers on this. Also, are you just putting the hook in the keeper only, or embedding one hook in the belly as well?
Thanks appreciate this, I've been staring at my unopened package for too long.
