I just found your channel and I’m so glad. I am in Maryland, same zone. I am a relatively new Gardner and still learning, so I try to find people who garden in or near my zone. Thanks so much

I’m in Virginia 7b, and we have been having rain almost everyday. Its good, but bad as well. We are having so many problems with deer. They just push their self through our fence. Im going to try the tin pans someone suggested
    love your garden ❤️Christy

You can hang the aluminum pie pans, from the store bought pie crust. Hang them together so that the wind causes them to make noise. And you can also hang the shiny CD’s you don’t want. These are just a couple things that help scare the deers off. 😊

Your garden is doing much better than ours! We haven’t planted yet 😬. Fixing up our farmhouse first and then looking to go all out next spring with our garden. Can’t wait!

For the pests try nemotodes for your soil. Its not cheap but i heard it helps to keep pests under control .I heard nothing truly eradicate pests UNLESS you use harmful chemicals and destroys what you need in your soil. Also someone said plant " Amaranth " by crops. The pests are attracted to the plant and not your crops.

Such a lovely garden tour. I love the back bed almost the best just because it helps so much to see the problems that some of the more seasoned gardeners experience. I also have had so many issues with cucumber and squash plants even getting off the ground and it IS a pain to have to cover everything. I love that some you cover, some you don't. It's just not an exact science and is a continual experiment and surprise as to what might happen in the garden.

Nice tour but so much deer pressure ruining your hard work. It also kind of deflates the excitement of the spring garden. You mentioned putting up a chicken wire fence around the garden for the chickens to forage over winter. But do you have plans to put up a deer fence in the spring? Love to see the happy chickens!

it’s something we really need to consider at this point. just a bit difficult since our garden spaces are spread out so we have to figure out what to include in the fencing. until then, i may be using more row covers to protect things.

How do you not have rabbit and squirrel damage? I live in Kentucky and the rabbits have been TERRIBLE this summer. I’ve had to cage everything in basically.

The squirrels do sometimes get in our garden, especially when it's strawberry season. But haven't seen many bunnies around here, thankfully!
