    I’m an airline pilot. Lot of dress shirts and a lot of travel. Best I can say is that every hotel room has an iron and an ironing board. Sure, the fewer wrinkles, the easier the ironing but there’s no way you get by without it.

    This is normal way and to be honest my mum used to have less folds than you and that too as regular practice to keep in wardrobes in home we follow the same technique even better as the you have one extra fold which may give wrinkles.. if you delete your first step where you strach the sleeve to other corner delete that and it will be way better . I hve been doing for 30 years without wrinkles weather travelling or at home😊

    Basically how a shirt is commercially folded. Missing only pins and board. You replaced the collar ring with your belt. This shirt will need to be completely re-ironed before use.
    Best way to fold a shirt for travel is to lay it flat, lay a t-shirt flat over it, fold normally. Sharp creases and fold lines are prevented by the t-shirt. Also, always unpack and hang clothes up at your destination. Avoid the temptation to 'live out of your suitcase'.

    This would only work on the type of material THAT specific shirt is made of. That technique isn't for every shirt. If you've never used an iron, just hang your shirt in the bathroom and turn the shower on HOT for a few minutes. Or, Downey Wrinkle Release works wonders ;)

    How on earth folding a shirt a zillion times going to make it less wrinkly?!!!! OK perhaps you will end up with a shirt that has no “wrinkles” but has a hundred crease lines. Even shirts in plastic wraps in cardboard boxes end up with creases. I think this is a nice way to pack your shirt and minimize the amount of ironing later. I use a variation of this for that reason. Also, try to unfold the collar, less unwanted wrinkles in the most visible part of the shirt. Thank you for your video’s clarity and lack of extra talk. Cheers.

    • @travelhacksntips
      @travelhacksntips  3 месяца назад +1

      Great Question! I would alter the folds on both sides to make them less than a 1/3 to prevent folding over the pocket! The result may be a little different but overall, with care, will prevent wrinkles!

    Very neat, but took ages … I been using a very handy method lately:
    1. lay out first shirt flat per the video
    2. Place up to four additional shirts directly on top of the first one
    3. Fold arms and about 3 inches of “body” into the middle on each side
    4. Fold into a neat bundle that takes up very little room in a case or hold-all.
    It’s a little like rolling tee shirts … and it really works … your welcome!

    How is that different from regular folding? You actually had more folds not less. It doesn’t even show if it works. The only way to avoid creases is to roll, not fold, just like you do with your pants….

    • @Antenox

      Rolling makes wrinkles worse, not better. Keeping folds neat minimizes the appearances of folds when wearing.

    Just like you fold up from the bottom in thirds, you need to fold from the sides in (even) thirds. When folding the sleeves up, keep the last fold in the centre of the shirt so that the ends of the two sleeves lie on top of each other. That way they fit into the centre third and don’t get another fold down its length. I was taught this by a Hong Kong tailor and ex-laundromat worker.
