F22 didn’t have the first production AESA that was on a chilean Boeing 707 early warning aircraft, and if you want to then say no you meant on a fighter it’s the J-APG 1 on the Mitsubishi F2.

This technology is similar to how Star-link works. It can both send and receive data. The antenna is stationary while the array uses technology to allow it to 'scan' over a wide field of view.

star-link is similar to how AESA radars work, AESA radars have been here longer, so they should be the object of comparison

Does the long development of this radar (especially the shrinkage) have anything to do with gallium nitrate and the late breakthrough in the production of this crystal coating process?

First aesa radar was the one of the mig31, launch at the beginning of the 80’s… usa had just follow and France 🇫🇷 a few years after. Mig 31 aesa radar had a specificity, it’s the only one who work on 2 differents bands, x and L, which allow a better range of detection. He also allow low altitude detection, through l16 mig31 are linked all together and they can share data, 4 of them are enough to cover 560 km of front. Good luck.🍀
