I'll say this for the beach at Island Village, not many places have a beach so near to a Cruise ship port that is as clean and with amenities good enough for persons to be able to relax, sunbathe and swim comfortably.
Water looks Crystal clear to me, very minimal seaweed, compared to other beaches.... Ways to get around most things in life... As for the chairs and umbrellas, you're paying for a service, if you don't wanna lay in the sand especially in the heat you're protected from the sand and heat.... As for the warmth of the water we really don't have warm water beaches, if it gives off that then that's climate change for you.... We have bath springs and hot mineral baths if you desire something along those lines.... Island Village has a nice romantic setting to it, especially when the stars are out at night time.... I hope you and your family enjoyed it though...
The reason why you guys felt two distinct water temperatures is because of a nearby stream from the mountains that runs into the sea! There are countless other beaches in close proximity to be explored. Hope you guys had a good time otherwise..
Lol. Can’t get it out of my head now: YA MON JERK CHICKEN RICE N BEANS As I’ve mentioned on your other videos, going there on HAL Veendam in April. We finally settled on going to Blue Hole and River Tubing with Dr Fun. Thoughts? Also hope to find the Guide’s personal favorite Jerk place and go there and have a quick visit to a fire station (retired firefighter / EMT / 911 Dispatcher) I love your videos. After seeing many, it’s sweet to see your son growing so much! Safe future travels! Hope to see you in the seas!
Haha yeah that was a smart bit of advertisement by that food cart. That slogan was literally stuck in our head for days, lol. We haven't tried the river tubing but it's supposed to be a lot of fun. Thanks for the support- really appreciate it! 🙏 Have a great time in Jamaica!
It was pretty good, and that jingle broadcast on loudspeaker had us chanting it for fun back to each other the rest of the day, lol. Thanks for watching & commenting!
Any beach location next to a cruise port is expected to be dirty. The Grand Cayman cruise port is off shore, so you have to tendered to shore, which makes the beach a lot cleaner and clearer. Ocho Rios is a better port in terms of things to see and do. You can only go to stringray city Grand Cayman so many times.
Definitely makes sense. It's very nice actually to have a beach right there close to the cruise terminal- it was an enjoyable day for us in Ocho Rios for sure. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Sure thing! The drinks menu is at the 6:30 mark though it could be hard to read. They had "Premium Cocktails" like the Bahama Mama for $9.95, Beegaritas were $19.95 (with free souvenir blender cup), and Ultimate Magaritas were $16.95. Cold beers were $4.95 to $5.95, or you can do a Buy 5 get 1 Free bucket ($24.75 or $29.75 for any beer). Signature shots were $5.95 and included Kamikaze, Caribbean Hillbilly, Jammin Reggae. Soft drinks were $2.75, and you can get bottomless refill if you pay an extra $5 which includes a souvenir glass.
That is actually ridiculous that they can charge $45 for 2 loungers and an umbrella! I have stayed in Ochi maybe 4 times at what is now the Moon Palace and there is a section of public beach (Turtle Beach) between the cruise port and Moon Palace. The beach is clean, the sea is warm and you're not bunched up like cattle. Ochi is not famed for its beaches but Margaritaville is not where you want to go.
I personally think you're upset because of the price for the chairs and umbrellas. I would be mad too, but in Ocho Rios, the beach is the least "selling point" in its cruise port offering. You should have taken your family to bamboo bluff beach, reggae beach, laughing water beach or mahogany beach and you wouldn't have to pay a cent. Every resort destination downtown beach is always crowded.
No not upset at all- we were happy to be just sitting in the shade on our beach towel for free. We're always thankful actually to be in one of these Caribbean ports, especially one we've never been to. This was our first time to Ocho Rios, and we had slept in and wanted to just wing it around the port area. Appreciate the tips on those other beaches- we'll definitely consider them next time.
Margaritville Beach is just about 10mins or less from Scandals Ocho Rios driving depending on traffic.. Walking to it is about 40mins at your own pace.
My husband, sister and I took a cruise there. I wasn't paying attention and my sister and husband started walking while I was looking at something. A man came up to me and asked for money. I had none on me, but had a purse. He grabbed my purse, took everything out, dropped the purse and ran away. I picked up my purse and ran to my husband. I was petrified. We all started running to the ship which was quite a ways away. I had not taken my wallet or charge cards so he didn't get much. We will never go back!
You went to a low grade beach in Ocho Rios and comparing it with a top rated beach in Cayman. Jamaica has MANY, MANY beaches- some of which are the best in the world. Remember that Jamaica is MUCH larger than Cayman. You can't just go to that beach, a shipping port really, and start making comparisons. I feel like you were upset for some reason.
Hmm you sound like the one upset- as we mentioned in reply to your other comments (those are by your other accounts or a related entity, correct?)- we had fun & enjoyed our time there. And we look forward to visiting other beaches in Jamaica in the future, ones that we’re sure would be even more enjoyable.
@@TravelTouristVideos, what the hell are you talking about? Other accounts? You seriously think I have time to go around creating several RUclips accounts so I can make a comment on your channel?! I am doing my master's degree in Accounting and would rather spend that much time on my studies. I am off from work and school and decided to browse places to vacation and came across your video. I happen to have traveled the Caribbean, including Jamaica and Cayman, many, many times and (personally), Jamaica has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean- in fact the world. By the way, I live in the US.
It's all good- happy happy! Just odd that the comments thus far are regarding that comparison we were making, which again is in no way a slight towards Jamaica. We were just calling it as we saw it at that one "low grade" beach in your own words. Personally, I would not call it that- it was just fine and a short, convenient walking distance from the cruise port. I think the popularity of that beach and the surrounding area is a testament to those virtues.
I think it was 2 chairs & came with two drinks and souvenir cups as well for that price. But yeah you don't have to pay- just grab some beach towels and go which was what we did.
Thank you for the lovely video. My first cruise and first time in Jamaica is next year. Can't wait to get there!
You're very welcome- have a wonderful time in Jamaica!

We did have a good time! Thanks for that info- that would explain the water temperature difference. 👍
April 26, 2021 am going on Carnival Sunrise to Ocho Rios looking forward to it .
Nice- have an amazing cruise on the Sunrise!
I just came back. Advise, book covers and an excuscrusion ahead of time or you will be harassed.

Do you remember how much it was for a drink in Margaritaville?
Sure thing! The drinks menu is at the 6:30 mark though it could be hard to read. Can a Jamaica go on there when it come just to look around it
If you are talking about the cruise ship- for security purposes they only allow guests and crew members on the ship.

Was the slide and beach free?
The beach was free- access to the pool and the slide costs extra.
Does it cost anything to swim at Margaritaville?
The beach is public, but to swim at the pool there I'm fairly certain you need to have made a purchase.
Does anyone know if this is easily accessible from sandals ochi?
Margaritville Beach is just about 10mins or less from Scandals Ocho Rios driving depending on traffic.. Walking to it is about 40mins at your own pace.

jamdawgutube : I wouldn't call it a low grade beach, its much better than that.
@@TravelTouristVideos Cayman beaches have nothing on Jamaicas beach ,Cayman is like a parish in Jamaica

that whole $45 for a chair and stuff just totally turned me off. don't want to go anymore.
I think it was 2 chairs & came with two drinks and souvenir cups as well for that price. But yeah you don't have to pay- just grab some beach towels and go which was what we did.
