- "Euphoria" is an American adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name, and all episodes are written by Sam Levinson, who also serves as executive producer alongside Drake. It follows a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media. Series star Barbie Ferreira stopped by BUILD to discuss the hot new HBO series.

Euphoria is literally everything Skins US wanted to be.
But MTV couldn’t do nudity or crazy topics.
Yet conservatives STILL boycotted it and got sooooooo many advertisers to pull from the show. I remember that I was like in 10th grade like oh finally a gritty teen show (I was watching Glee lol) and it ended as fast as it aired.

I don’t know how many people have been following her since her tumblr / American Apparel days, around 5-6 years ago since she started off on everything. I liked seeing an allusion to her old 1D tumblr days in her origin story episode. :) I hope she gets more roles because she’s always had it in her and she really shows it in euphoria!
dude me too. weird right? i was following her when i was in high school so that was 7-9 years ago. I just remember her posting photobooth "selfies" and thinking how gorgeous she was. I found her instagram a year and a half ago and started following her again and I'm really happy that she's become so successful.

Barbie you are an icon for me. I wish I was able to see Kat's journey when I was younger, I struggled so much with my weight all throughout high school and always felt so self-conscious. I think if I had seen Kat back then, it would've given me the strength I needed to stop feeling so shitty about myself.

One thing I really love about this show is collaboration. Everyone is putting in the work, making sure everyone is comfortable when filming those intense, emotional raw scenes. I love how real everything is and how it’s not glorifying it, I mean every person various I’m not trying to speak for anyone though. Overall it’s just so refreshing to see something like this as a young person in this world and seeing the reality of people close to my age relate and have this. And it’s crazy because it’s not just one thing that you can relate to there is a number of real life situations that people can relate to like addiction and insecurity just all of that overall.

As a late arrival to the Euphoria phenomena, I was delighted to come across this in late 2021 as the delayed season 2 is about to air. Without doubt, Barbie is such an intelligent, funny, beautiful and talented young lady and her interview by Kerry Justich is excellent and well worth the watch.
