Celebrating Hanukkah With Country Music Legend Kinky Friedman
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 ноя 2018
- Kinky Friedman celebrates Hanukkah in his own way. As a living legend in his own right, the country singer doesn’t do much of anything the “traditional” way. Every year, he gathers with bandmates and the rest of his chosen family for a festive jam session, bringing people together through music. Join Nico Tortorella on a holiday visit to Kinky’s Texas ranch to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

Happy YEE-HAWNUKKAH
Wow.
As a Texas Jew this made me smile!
As an Arizonan Jew, this made me wonder what I've been doing with my life where I know about armadillos and menorahs, but not about Kinky Friedman.
I always think of post Malone when I think of Texas Jews lol
As a millennial, Nico Tortorella is the reason I gave up on humanity and might be the fakest person I've ever seen .
Kinky brings a lot of smiles.
He's a real Mensch
Don't know about that one.
I love the Kinkster! Met him several times. Still have a cigar he autographed and gave me.
"People who know about menorahs don't know about armadillos. People who know about armadillos certainly don't know about menorahs."
You said it. Sadly, I know about both menorahs and armadillos, but I didn't know about Kinky Friedman. What have I been doing with my life.
Jack Linde I know all three
Same. Jack Linde
He is wonderful.
Happy hannukah
J'adore ce reportage !
J'adore ce reportage aussi.
Its not his ranch, he co-owns it with his siblings. His parents set it up as a summer camp for children and when they died it passed to them. His brother Rodger continued to run it for 10 more years. Than Kinky and his other sibling Marcie shut it down for not being profitable enough. Seeing them casually stroll around with my old cabin and bunk literally in the background is hard. Both my mother and all 3 of my siblings went to Echo Hill Ranch. I know its not Kinky or Marcies job to keep fueling money into a slowly failing camp but the 51 years his parents put into it as well as the 10 his brother did should mean something. Almost three generations had a second home here and now its gone. Summer camp no more, merely their private residence of 400 acres. Green trees Echo Hill, it was the greatest time of my life.
What an amazing story. I love this.
Anyone who took the time to read the comments please check out kinky's older albums, Raunchy, anti-pc and lots of fun
Great hat, Nico. Is that a Stetson Temple?
Yes that is me just before the end.
While i understand businesses saying 'happy holidays' i still say 'merry christmas' and i would love a day where i say to some random person "merry christmas" and i get a very sincere "happy Hanukkah" or some other holiday greeting, cause i think that's acceptance more then everyone just saying 'happy holiday'
A little different, nevertheless interesting. I really enjoyed it and thank you.
A Bi Gezunde..Kinky!
As a fellow yee haw boi my self I’m glad we getting some good representation

Good video...I hope it keeps being this open and doesn't go Far left-wing to try and put down other people.
This is pretty fuckin far to the left mate... just more "diversity and tolerance is always great!!!1 NO. MATTER. WHAT.... Check mate BIGOTS."
@@TipeONegatyve What i mean mate is that exploring people from all walks of life is cool. This was a good video.
Just don't want the virtue lecturing of Far Left-wing activists telling people how to think and live.
This video wasn't that at all and it was good to see.
I worry that it might go south after this though.
Whenever i hear "activism" i hold my breath and wait for the shoe to drop.
@@TheJamesdashwood yeah... the subject was interesting. Which was the musician. But the agenda behind it I'm afraid is already at that point, and yes... it does look like its going to go south from here more than it already has. Down with globalism.

Not first.
Kinky would have been a great President.
So somebody tell me what Hanukkah is?
It is a holiday that Jewish people celebrate in the winter to celebrate miracles that happened in the roman times. we light this thing called a menorah or a hannukia which is to celebrate a miracle that the jews had a little bit of oil to light this menorah but god made it so that it would last the whole week or 8- days. we also eat fried things like (jelly) doughnuts or fried potato pancakes because they are doused in OIL. It is 8 days long to celebrate the miracle that lasted that long. we say thank you to god each night while lighting the menorah for granting us such great miracles and letting us beat the roman. this is just a short explanation there are a lot more things to explain im honestly just too lazy...
now u explain christmas:)
@@yuvaledry4151 Grumbles quietly, "it's just a made up holiday to keep the cardiologists in business." (I'm kidding. I'm kidding.)
The thing is, Chanukah really isn't one of our big holidays. It's just that Christmas has gotten so huge in the US that anything around it gains importance by proximity. Also, I always thought it was the Greeks, and not the Romans, who took over the temple. According to Chabad.org It was the Syrians (with a heavy Greek influence) that took over the temple. www.chabad.org/holidays/chanukah/article_cdo/aid/102978/jewish/The-Story-of-Chanukah.htm
Its where 8 jewish people come together to make bread
Way back in Greek Times, Seleucus, the king of Persia, also ruled Jerusalem. He didn’t much like the Jews there and their “only one god” nonsense, so he told them to start bowing to Zeus. A guy named Maccabee Hasmonean led a revolt against Seleusus, the Maccabee Rebellion, and defeated the Persian army against impossible odds, but the Great Temple was destroyed in the process. Now, in every Jewish Temple, there’s a hanging torch toward the front of the room that should never, for any reason, at anytime, not burn. The Israelites had enough oil for only one day, out of the eight it would take to make more. Things looked grim. But that one day’s worth of oil mysteriously lasted the exact eight it would take for more oil to come, and the light never went out.
