solveig sommerfeld you claim that the Saami were in Scandinavia before the ice drew back... that’s funny, seeing that the oldest human remains to be found in Scandinavia date to about 5000 years after the ice melted
@@solveigsommerfeld9423 Incorrect. When the sami arrived in Norway the land had already been populated by Norwegians for 3000 years already, thats the common proffesional understanding today in 2020, backed up by modern archeology.

The title is incorrect. The sami people are not the natives of northern europe. The real natives of northern europe is the germanic population that wandered north to Sweden & Norway 14 000 - 15 000 years ago and settled to hunt & gather. Resources have been found in southern sweden belonging to germanic nomads dating 14 000 years ago. The oldest finding that has been made in northern Sweden is in Jämtland that belongs to germanic nomadic tribes, an arrowhead dating over 8000 years back. The sami could not have lived in northern Sweden during that time period because of the ice age. The only source of food was mammoths & reindeers which wasn't enough.
How did they figure out that they were germanic? And how did Germanic tribes arrive in Scandinavia 12500 years before the proto-germanic language started to exist? I'd love to see a source for that, impressive that they managed to learn the language of a group who left no literary traces at all

The finns themselves also differ a lot between it's westerna nd eastern halves where's the western part is very similar to Swedes and the eastern more with more eastern finnic peoples and russians. however Samis are not similar to any finns. The genetic mixture the finns have are probably as old as their people and language and goes back many thousands of years.
