    The lyrics translation...
Are you still with me, my dear friend,
Though I no longer see you?
Are you still here on earth,
As you are in my heart?
    I lie here and ponder,
    It's desolately quiet around me.
    Tears break out and fall,
    With the thought of you.
An angel that was forgotten here,
    Have now got his wings.
Where do you fly now, my angel?
    Where do you fly now?
Are you flying through the pearly gates?
Or the end of the world?
Are you flying next to me?
Or am I all alone now?
Wherever you are now, my friend.
    Wherever the road leads you.
    Promise me you'll wait there,
    Until I meet you.
    I hope you're happy now.
    As I was with you.
    And the pain you've suffered,
    I hope it's forgotten.
    Fly freely, my dear friend.
    You are free now.
    And until we meet again,
    Farewell, my angel

The title is incorrect. The sami people are not the natives of northern europe. The real natives of northern europe is the germanic population that wandered north to Sweden & Norway 14 000 - 15 000 years ago and settled to hunt & gather. Resources have been found in southern sweden belonging to germanic nomads dating 14 000 years ago. The oldest finding that has been made in northern Sweden is in Jämtland that belongs to germanic nomadic tribes, an arrowhead dating over 8000 years back.
The sami could not have lived in northern Sweden during that time period because of the ice age. The only source of food was mammoths & reindeers which wasn't enough.

    • @david82633
      @david82633 2 года назад

How did they figure out that they were germanic? And how did Germanic tribes arrive in Scandinavia 12500 years before the proto-germanic language started to exist? I'd love to see a source for that, impressive that they managed to learn the language of a group who left no literary traces at all

@@david82633 European nomads who came from central europe have populated southern and mid Sweden for over 13 000 years so that's not true. Most ethnic swedes even today shares a high amount of DNA from these people.
Sami are native to Sapmi which is the northernmost landscapes of Sweden, Norway and Finland but to say that they are the natives of northern europe is incorrect as people have been populating the mid and south of northern europe thousands of years before the sami arrived in the north. Even as far north as Jämtland was settled by the hunting tribes who came from the south as early as 9000 - 10 000 years ago.

@@b_rabbit435 of course, they are only native to Northern Fennoskandia, not the rest of Europe. Seems like we actually agree then.
The germanic population arrived a few thousand years ago, but merged with the existing population. We know this because we know that proto-germanic came into being around year 500 bce. Both Sámi and Germanics are related to this early population.

They did both come from the same place (Volga-kama region, southern Russia) but the Sami look more paleolithic northern european than Finns who look more "normal" (Both of them and their ancestors are of course white but Sami are a lot more paleolithic northern european looking. ***** Sort of, not really, usually, from my understnading, the finns originate in a meeting between several peoples, both Germanic as well as Slavic but also whoever gave them their language. The finns themselves also differ a lot between it's westerna nd eastern halves where's the western part is very similar to Swedes and the eastern more with more eastern finnic peoples and russians. however Samis are not similar to any finns.
The genetic mixture the finns have are probably as old as their people and language and goes back many thousands of years.
