I was born in July 1964, this is an amazing record of what Scarborough looked like back then. I am now fortunate enough to have been living in Scarborough for the last 2 years. I love it here.
I am not going to knock how it looks today because I was born and raised in Scarborough and still live here. I love the town and these photo's brought back memories of my childhood. Especially the North bay pool. Thank You for posting.
Does anyone else remember the tiny tea/coffee shop on the path to the castle (North bay side). If memory serves, it was run by two delightful elderly Ladies... it would have been 65 years or so ago.

it was a simple time the UK was i think a better place
Certainly safer and saner.
Glorious. I moved to Scarborough twelve yours after this. The cheap package holiday to Spain had started to do its damage by then.
We didn't know it at the time but the sixties and the next two decades were the best England would ever be. Every one made the effort to look smart.
the itlalian gardens were superb

Hi George, So far no joy on the ladies although Malcolm remembers the tea shack. Regards The Typing Prawn
