- Industrial Electricians make up a small percentage of Electricians. An Industrial Electrician job duties or task vary significantly more than a residential or commercial electrician.

I love being an electrician and the local I am in does all kinds of commercial and industrial work...Then, I get to do some residential on my own (and was doing before I got into the union)...NEVER a dull moment! crazy how you do all this yourself! All the contractors I work for would at LEAST have two workers on the job, a JW and an apprentice! Right on! You're a beast man! Hope to get to your level some day!

Very nice to see you young guys getting into the electrical trade. Been in it myself for 35 yrs and have never seen the lack of young people wanting to work or learn a trade before. We are dinosaurs. Good job!
problem isnt "young people not wanting to work anymore" no one wants to hire or appropriately train new apprentices. im an apprentice with no expirience and have tried applying everywhere with whatever company i can find i did this for a year and havent heard anything. i also go to a vocational school with a NCCER approved program and still nothing, and on top of that there are no benefits to start off and the pay starts off most of the time less than if i where to go work at McDs, most of the time these small shops dont even care about safety either so thats another big issue to worry about. its also a lack of you dinosaurs acting and wanting to treat apprentices like shit while they bust their ass. The work culture around trades has to change and fortunately for the most part it is and its because a lot of older people are dying off not because you dinosaurs are actively changing your ways.
there are so many apprentices out there young and old in every craft and there really isnt a work shortage of trades people theres only a shortage of trades people not ignorant enough to work for 15-20hr getting yelled at by an alcoholic lead craftsman thats emotionally still a little child when his patience runs thin.
its not on us young people that are the problem its for sure the older generation and the way things are being ran in these fields.

@@MoneyL-sl4ej I’m 4ish years in now doing industrial work ... my first day with a electrical conveyor company they had me pre-fabbing VFD panels to floor mounted brackets , and drilling holes and installing wire pulling bodies . After a month or so I started to run pipe

Use a dewalt 8 volt screwdriver DCF682N1 as a reamer.
Make a habit of using the same tool without switching until the next step.
What little tool apron is that?? Thought you had a veto but I guess it makes sense to have a tool pouch/apron since you’ll be up on a ladder most of the day

If I would have remembered to use self tappers to hang my Jboxes I probably would have had some conduit in the air.
I did notice, in the first part, you were using set screw couplings and connectors and in part 2 (here) you are using compression? Is it just what you had available, laying around and wanted to use it up, Or do the plans spec connectors up on the I-beams and compression in that fenced in cage?
Great question actually I don't remember why I switched.
Nice to someone else that doesn't spin the wire around in the strippers when removing insulation. It's amazing how many I see in the field doing that crap and with stranded wire at that.
I’m currently in trade school , applying as electrical maintenance , but I’m hearing i won’t accumulate hours to become a journeyman. When I leave trade school I will leave with 700 hours. So how does it work building hours up if there is no master electrician on the job site?

Bro get a Polyester fish tape you’ll never go back the a metal fish tape trust me.
I have one only use it when going into live panels.
@@unitedtradesmanacademy1894 I’m not talking about fiberglass fish tape. Polyester is where it’s at. I use it for every run so smooth trust me.
How you get that good a bending conduit struggling rn my bro?
Practice and patience. I have been doing it for 30yrs and it took a while to get good at it. Don't give up you will get it. There is a lot of videos out there to watch. Good luck.
