I had a chance to meet and walk the red carpet with Bill in 2011 at the Hall of Fame ceremonies in Springfield Mass.He was really a good guy, we talked about the 1965 Gail Goodrich, Edgar Lacy UCLA team vs Michigan with Cazzie Russell. Then we talked about the 1971 UCLA team vs Villanova with Howard Porter ( MOP of the Tourney ) - Bill Was a Treasure to talk and walk with. I'd loved to talk to him again
Here's another loss to think about. Now that the genocide that occurred in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos has been tallied, the battle of Vietnam might have been won, but the war against totalitarianism and mass murder that occurred in those countries after the US pulled out, was not. Our soldiers that were lost, wounded or MIA were not in vain. It's too bad, that to this day, people, like Mr. Walton, still haven't seen that side of the equation. You know it only takes a few months living in those countries to see this reality. Wow. those poor 9 million. Basketball is nothing compared to those numbers. On the other hand, I have never seen a more graceful center that Bill Walton, and that includes Lew Alcindor.
One of the greatest players of all time. Injury took its toll on him.Healthy would have been great watching Bill for a few more NBA Seasons.
R.I.P Bill Walton

I was just watching this video yesterday one day later of his passing.
There is no greater bond then an older brother playing basketball, with his younger brother.
One of the greatest centers of all time. When he was healthy
It seemed as if the Trailblazers had a habit of drafting injury prone centers. Walton, Greg Oden, and Sam Bowie come to mind.

I've always enjoyed his stammering, Grateful Dead broadcasting career.
What John Wooden said, end of discussion. enough said. Thanks Bill Walton.
