    You can’t help but think Tesla’s been doing it longer, their chassis are engineered from scratch to accommodate batteries vs an engine. If you’re in the market for full electric, just go with them... no?

    You used a particular word for the interior.....safe.....I would take this in another context to the one I think you were using. We have just traded in a Tesla Model 3 after 7 months for the Audi RS e-tron GT Vorsprung. We looked at all the other comparable manufacturers even down to the KIA but when we walked into the showroom and saw the Audi in black we both fell for it. Back to the word safe....we found the one screen operation of the Tesla very dangerous. A report has come to the conclusion that it is more dangerous than using a mobile phone whilst driving, and drink driving. This is the conclusion that we came to which is why maybe so many seem to be written off. So safe is wonderful for us. The car is amazing. The interior has far superior quality materials used whereas the Tesla was showing signs of wear already and we are very careful in our cars and had only done 3500 miles. We now have heads up display and 360degree view as well as fantastic breaks. It is our dream car in all ways.

    My old dad was not in the slightest bit superstitious and he drove for probably sixty years or more. In that time he was involved in two major accidents and both vehicles were green so after the last one he wouldn't touch a green car with a barge pole and never had another accident for his remaining thirty odd years of motoring. So in our family we still don't have green cars, just can't do it.
    Which is a shame as I really like that colour.
    In my own experience now over forty years, some of which driving buses, I would not have a "road colour" car because they disappear in certain lights. Nice bright colours for me, just not green! 😂

    Great video Ginny. Hoping to make the GT part of my present and future soon. Encouraging to see the trajectory of EVs if this is what they’re capable of. Maybe a bit more range, quicker charging times? Well, in time the tech will be there with LFP batteries and already Audi and Porsche can charge faster than most UK chargers are capable of. The progress is astonishing (coming from a petrolhead with a B9 S4). The future is looking a bit brighter.

    Nicer looking than the Taycan in my opinion but maybe the Porsche badge has more cachet? Not that I am going to spend that kind of money on a car and they are both ridiculously fast for UK roads (speed limits round here more suitable for the first EV I saw as a child - a milk float). • @almac9203
      @almac9203 3 года назад +2

      The Tesla range figures are make believe. Edmund's tested all the cars available in the USA market and the Porsche Taycan 4S exceeded the range of the Tesla Model S despite the Tesla claiming a 130 mile advantage. This car is based on the Porsche so the real world range will be far closer to the Tesla than the EPA figures suggest. Edmund's tested all the EVs in the real world and Tesla and Polestar were found to exaggerate their range figures whereas Porsche and Audi and Ford and Hyundai and Kia and Chevrolet and Nissan exceeded their stated range figures. Such arrogance to compare the EPA figures with a tester doing a full test using the heater and doing launches. It is laughable that you think that Tesla has a 10 year technology advantage when their figures are bogus.

    It is a nice-looking car, for sure, and I don't even mind it in Austin Allegro Green - it works well with the blacked-out details & badging. However, that blank switch between hazards and TC - what option hasn't been fitted to this press demonstrator?

    Where are all these 350kW chargers you mention? One look at zap-map will show the inaccuracy of that statement. Not to mention that those that do exist are almost exclusively in the south of England. How does that help make an electric GT car easy to use for its intended purpose? This Audi will not be that great for trip up around the NC500 or for weekend in Snowdonia, where its undoubted charging prowess is rendered useless by poor infrastructure.

    • @ajl12no
      @ajl12no 3 года назад

      @@jenny80myles Well from a performance point of view the Tesla S Plaid kicks it into touch, from a self driving point of view the same again and from a hardware and software point of view including over the air updates, same; and then the range on the Taycan is only 192 EPA miles, so no good. The only thing that the Porsche has is a quicker turn around from rapid standing starts and arguably more comfort. Therefore "most sophisticated" you would have to apply as a style statement rather than technical achievement, in my opinion.

      Well said. Porsche have wowed us with a brilliantly driving car (when have they ever not), and a beautifully built interior, and have put massive batteries and motors to blind us from the simple fact..... It is not an efficient electric vehicle, so may be regarded as a sophisticated car with sophisticated tech.
      But it's not a 'sophisticated ev'. Tesla's still kick it out of the park for battery and motor tech.

      @@ajl12no before you spout nonsense go and check out Edmunds, they tested all the EVs on the market and they found the Taycan 4S went further than the Tesla model S despite the Tesla claiming a fake 123 mile range advantage. It laughable you think Tesla has some magical technology that allows them to go far further with the same size battery. Edmund's is not the only publication that found that the Porsche exceeded their stated range whilst the Tesla underperformed their stated range. The range advantage you cited is fake and everyone knows it. Even the acceleration of the upcoming Tesla model S is BS. It says in the fine print that the Tesla only achieves the quoted figures with one foot of rollout which is dishonest. It can't really do 0 to 60 under 2 seconds as claimed unless you allow a foot of rollout.
