    I'd never seen this before, and right now I have fallen in love with Angela all over again! Hearing her speak South African vernacular like this! 🙌🏽😍🔥 the accent 😃 she sounds just like how black woman used to speak English during the apartheid years. Now I understand why her Xhosa was so good in Black Panther. 🇿🇦🇿🇦

    I'm a Shakespeare woman, I grew up reading books that's what this movie reminds me. I'll play at the theater. A lot of people don't know what it's like to go and watch a live play at the theater. It's a different feeling from a movie and this movie was so awesome. I can't describe it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Angela Bassett Danny Glover awesome awesome awesome😊

    Angela Bassett damn she's was beautiful then and still aging like a fine wine. The character she's portraying in this movies is a woman most men seek for in 2024 but they are rare treasures that the eyes can't see. Only your heart and soul can unlock the treasure to be. I don't have a clue what I've just typed but God bless you and much love ❤

    Love is often turbulent. It can be ugly, painful, unclear. Most will not endure the unexpected. Others, this is all they have, making it difficult to forego. Warriors in love will fight till the death of it. Through ups and downs, hard times and suffering, they push through together and even against each other, but always in the same direction. Warriors of love know that, although it becomes stained or tarnished, true love never dies. (DV is the obvious element in this film and IT IS NEVER OK! If you can, don't allow the depiction of DV in this film to rob you of the powerful meanings and messages offered here.)

      @@Aura-Awakened Not at all. Lena did just the opposite, when she was ready. My point is, a staggering number of marriages fall apart over small situations with a false sense of value (the principle). While this is happening in our culture, already strained and exploited, other cultures have learned the art of compromise when necessary to lend understanding. He called you a B&$ch one too many times and you're ready to throw your marriage into the fire. If he DID hit you one time in 24 years, you want to divorce him, with no explanation. LEAVE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL HE GETS IT TOGETHER. But after 24 years, it's worth a conversation.

      I think actors can play different nationalities as long as the phenotype corresponds - however, it was hard to get produced back then if US-actors were not casted in the leading roles as African or Caribbean characters: e.g. Hotel Rwandan, Sarafina, Cry for Freedom, There is a Yankee on my Stoop, Cool Runnings, etc. but then again with regard to feeling for the role Black American actors did great jobs as Aoartheid & Segregation were basically the same - just divided by the ocean

      As an American BW, i completely understand. I dont like when hollyweird tries to use other ethnicities of women to depict us because they dont really know our experiences and the acting comes off as forced and inorganic

      @jadaswirls48 name 3 American movies who seen do that. Your confusing ethnicity with the term race. And if your wondering why we use actors like Idris Elba a lot cause he's a damn good actor. There no rule that says you can't have foreigners in your movies. Shorty just made cause they pretending ti be African

    • @Aura-Awakened
      @Aura-Awakened Год назад +3

      @@terezobert2101 no, I'm not confusing ethnicity with race. I meant exactly what I said.
      Why would she want herself or her country being portrayed by foreigners who know nothing about her country or what she experienced? You clearly don't even respect them 🙄 & nobody wants to listen to their fake accents & disingenuous portrayals of the characters when they could've found an actor from that ethnic background who would've been a more Authentic fit for the role.
      Just because it doesn't matter to YOU doesnt mean it can't matter to us🙄
