Gagged...need a jump start! 💋
😍
And then some
Gaggatrondraaaa
You know it!
The out of drag looks in this video give me serious Depeche Mode vibes, this is stunning!
Yes, it all screams 80’s
I came to say literally the same exact thing!! Serving serious Violator-era Gahan looks
It's a cover of "Fade to Grey" by Visage, from the 80's. Pretty much the same music. Steve Strange, the original singer, is a better singer though.
yesssss it's like if dave wore martin's clothes and it's so perfect
@@Hannah-qx3bo Martin would never allow it. We all know Martin was the true diva in DM. hahahaha
Yessss, another addition to the VCU. We need an early 80s dark wave album now
100%
YESSSSS
Yeeeessssss!!!!
FUCK YES
MANIFESTING
I can’t get over how pitch perfect and accurate this video is with its late 70s - early 80s references. Many artists are trying to do the 80s shtick today but they usually do it as “1983 through the lens of 2022.” What Violet has done here is deliver AUTHENTICITY MAMA.
absolutely right. it feels like it's good old Steve Strange himself!
late 50s and 60s as well - many of the boy looks are referencing classic beefcake and mens magazine pictorials! violet knows her references. this is gay excellence in every way. its a masterclass in queer aesthetic - being a reimagining of fade to grey carries it to a whole other level. omg its absolute perfection.
Auto Tune Mama....
IKR I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this old song! 🥰🤗💖 GO, CHACHKI! 🥳
Yes, reminds me of David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes." We could be watching Friday Night Videos. My first thought was, "Why this old aspect ratio?" But it took all of two seconds of the music to know, if you grew up in the 80s. Well done, well done.
His out of drag look is amazing, im glad he included this, what a hot guy, the transparent cowboy hat, woof, and the look with the big retro late 70s hairstyle is my favourite
Violet took 2022 to remind us that she was very meticulous with her brand and aesthetics since her tenure on RPDR, and it still pays off. By far the Queen with the most artistic vision of all
Yes, but Sasha Velour is right there. Violet is one* of the queens with the most artistic vision..
@@__rabi3 I +1 this one, Sasha is one of the best queens in terms of art expression.
Sasha Velour tho :)
@@__rabi3 lmao shes literally okay tbh. Been giving a bit of the same thing for a while now. I get it, its her aesthetic but.. change it around. The caftans with the gaga boots are getting tired. Shes a good performer tho
@@Marco-el2he You’re clearly not following Sasha Velour
I am actually gagged at the artistry. the concept, the song, the looks. everything.
have you watched the original one?
LOL! I was going to say, SO reminiscent of the Videos made during the 80's. And then went to go look up the Original. 1981...so Yeah. LOL! The Artistry is good, but not anything I Haven't seen Before.
@@Omonohoshi 1980
There are so many modern videos out there who attempt to replicate the aesthetic and "look" of an eighties video, but this one, my lordy, if I didn't know who Violet is, I would totally think it was an unearthed eighties video. The F/X crew and the musical team truly nailed it. And yes, I am old enough to remember the eighties in all their gawdy glory.
They use actual anologue technology from the eighties. So what you"re seeing is legit eighties cinematography.
@@SpindleAWebb
what!??? For real?
@@rmxevbio5889 yes. My husband works with her.
@@SpindleAWebb wow lucky husband
but that would explain why this feels so authentic
I've never heard of this artist before and I'm sincerely impressed.
This could originally be out of the 80s! The video style, how everything is zoomed in and everything. Love this so much!
Born 1971 I totally get the vibes, lost many friends to HIV and been to many burials.... I love the sentiment and music, thank you for that
Is this song about HIV?
@@DionisoBaco. I think unlikely; mainly due to the song release date. Fade to Grey was a pivotal record within the New Romantic movement which lent in part towards melancholy and glamour. As others have said the aesthetic of video here is true to the vibe of that time.
@@DionisoBaco. No. Fade to Grey came out in 1980, a year before the first AIDS cases in the US were identified.
@@DionisoBaco. No. It came out in 1980, one year before the crisis officially started.
Honestly these are the DREAM looks. She's THE fashion queen.
Hell yeah! She is the one
We were famished, on the brink of starvation as Violet eloguently walked in with a full gourmet meal ready to feed the children. She set it down and walked off without saying a word. Her heels clicking on the cold concrete floor.
And may we have seconds ?
Thank You. May i have another please?
Thank you for blessing us 💅🏿.
Nobody quite does aesthetic like Violet Chachki. It's magical and so goddam amazing. When this high fashion doll said she was a one of a kind collectable, she is living up to that.
🤓🤓🤓🤓
Yesssssss! 💋
Yes, nobody does it quite like Violet. My favourite drag queen is Bianca, but I love Violet for her confidence, her eye, her haute couture aesthetic. Truly a talented and visionary designer and artist.
@@forgoogletotrack7181 Oooh Bianca is my fave too! I love Bianca so much but don't think we will ever see her return for the superstars franchise :(
2:00 absolutely breathtaking. The artistry is insane.
Youre sick person....
so, so pretty!
Pls do more 80s songs! This vibe is everything.
This is high-fashion. This is high-glamour. This is high-camp. This is original. This is referential. This is homage-ful. This is visionary. This is attention to detail. This is meticulous. This is fearless creative expression. This is freeing. This is Violet.
Edit: I know it’s a remake but it’s still original if you get what I mean, like the various differences and detail she adds is what makes it original, but since its a remake and she takes from various references I also said that it’s also referential and homage-ful. It just shows how all art takes from something else and creates something new and beautiful.
This comment tho !
This is just highness
Actually its grey.
This has been done before…
Did she stone those chaps?
somewhere David from Slick it Up is touching himself to all this perfection. it's right up her alley.
😂💦 Aren’t we all though?!
Te amo mamãe ♡
People doubting her back in Season 7 and look at her now. It’s 2022 and she still amazes us with her artistry and content.
I don't think people doubted her in her season. I think her off putting personality is what they didn't care for.
@@fmaries7000 No, they were very vocal that Violet was all looks and no talent (even though serving an impactful look and aesthetic are more than a talent).
Wow. This looks amazingly early 80's. Dresses, makeup, moves, camera movement, angles, picture quality, set design, all look so authentic!
It's her remix of an actual song by the same name and lyrics that came out in 1980 - nice update!
As a person who was 20 something in the 80s, this is truly 100% 80s music!..love!
Because it is.
@@TinLeadHammer ...Well ok....guess you told ME!
more precisely late 70s early 80s ..... wonderful period of time with so much experimentation on synths ....
@@madelinerene6805 Violet is lipsyncing to a remix of an actual song from the 80s, Fade to Gray, by Visage.
I hope this synthpop/ electronic music venture just continues for Mistress Violet because I want more! I need originals, covers and collabs. Her with rammstein, with new order, looking like stunning, moving art to the sounds of kraftwerk… all of it!
Cannot imagine the effort Violet must have done to get all of this together. The looks, the make-up, the shots, congratulations to everyone.
Totally worth it! 💯
I remember when this Visage album came out in the early 80’s. Very nice choice to go with Violet’s esthetic. Post punk, new romantic dance music. I still had this Visage album until recently when my adult daughter decided it was fabulous and I let her have it. Teaching the children…
This remix is also giving such good electroclash vibes! As a DJ in the goth/queer scene, I look forward to putting this on a playlist!
@@leareed3749 You go do the Lord's work! I'd love to be there
WORK!! (with an O!)

This is the best Cover/remix of a damn good song that I’ve ever heard. Steve Strange would be proud
This is giving me 80's Depeche Mode vibes and I'm here for it. Side note; I see Violet in drag so much I forget what a cute boy he is!
also see : Soft Cell
Lol visage thou? the most prominent 80’s icons Steve strange, the pioneer to the Blitz kidz. paved the way for Depeche Mode and soft cell.
I came here to say the same Depeche Mode vibes all the way!
the cowboy outfit definitely makes me yearn for a personal jesus cover...
what no Kelly Osborne rip off came to mind? lol ruclips.net/video/QXctSjshB1M/видео.html
I'm usually very critical of people covering my most loved song of the 80's, but Violet has done an amazing version of it. I absolutely love this reimagining of it. It gave me goosebumps!
the 1st minute i was lie 'absolutely not' 2 mins in im like, wait, hang on a minute....now im like, this is pretty heaven.

Enhorabuena por tu versión original de ese tema que me hizo sentir la música de esa época desde lo más profundo de mi alma.
This is pretty freaking cool.
For me, the 80's was the best era for music.
This is such a dream. I love the original. LOVE THIS.

As a huge fan of New Wave culture, I appreciate your work, Violet. "Fade to Gray" is the song of my life and I love Visage and Steve Strange. You did it great.
Long live the New Wave of the 80s! 🖤💜🖤
New Romantics down, Violet. This is a gorgeous introduction to new generations to the past of club, queer, drag and perfomance culture.
This is just unbelievable..
sounds so 80s .. so love the 80 s era .. Steve strange would be so proud of u guys .. for doing a remarkable job on such a classic hit 😊love it ..
You’ve done the Blitz kids proud. Immaculate looks, genuinely 80s.
Amazing, I dont know many drag queens who can look this good both as woman and as man, and the level of polish is so high I almost pass out half way the video. Violet will easily win the all winners season
WE lost Thierry Mugler on January this year, it is nice to know that his legacy is remembered by the young generation.
Reimagined, Fade to Grey by Visage, brilliant. Living for this! The editing, styling, all dreamy and steamy. Well done!
The makeup, the outfits, the aesthetic... Steve Strange would’ve been proud!
My mom gave me a life, but you gave me a reason to live it. 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
When you can say "he's so hot" and "she's so hot" about the same person...I love that.
Huge fan of Steve Strange and the original, and this is a magnificent cover and somehow seems more 80’s than the original….and the looks….Christ almighty 😍
@Christodavid X it’s ok, I didn’t need a critique to my opinion
@@mrjhsheldon I love that contemporaries are paying homage to what we lived through. This video does that. No sucks. New romantics/Ultra Romantics.
It's a remix, not a cover
@@leothar it’s Violet singing so it’s a cover that’s has been remixed with full backing of Visage
Very good remake great video
Miss Violet makes sure we know she’s perfect from every angle. This is amazing. Fashion, music. Make up. I love it.
This is fabulous! Violet looking beautiful and sizzling hot in their male persona. Love the references to Toyah and Leigh Bowery. Musically stronger than the original which a cover must be for it to work.
I'm absolutely charged by how perfectly realized this is. What bowls me over is how moving it is as a tribute...some tears for what was, and absolute wonder at the flawless update, the talent on display. Fantastic.
What have I just witnessed?!?! I'm an early 80s baby so I remember watching a lot of this style of music video (on tape, of course!) and I *adore* the original version of this track so I was a little dubious about a cover version/remix. But fucking hell, Violet... this is absolutely stunning.

I'm having major flash backs!...to 1981 & my New Romantic clubbing days..I'm living 🖤
It's so cool to have this in 1080 hd but also still looking like an early 80s production
1:58 That black wig with the silver earrings is killer.
What an excellent tribute to Visage. I love the production style references to the original video. Well done. Steve Strange would be impressed I’m sure.
define: EYE CANDY 🍬👁
I always just feel if I were to see this written out on paper it would sound insane, it couldn’t work but somehow violet makes it not only work but makes it instantly iconic😍
It’s the epitome of 80s nuwave goth
hahahah true
80s glam rock meets gretian art and technicolour wave meets prusian military uniform in a very genderfuck but still giving fem and supercamp but also high fashion concept
sounds very weird in words
He looks a bit like Dave Gahan and the 80s aesthetics suit him perfectly. So handsome.
So very bold. I adore it. Glamour!!!
0:27 is giving me a flashback to Violet's entrance line lol
Yes I WAS LIVIIIING 🤣 never thought she would have the audacity to reference that
ooooo la la la LA LA LA! 💃
Glad someone else thought it, too! I do believe her entrance line is a reference to Deee-Lite’s “What is Love.”
She came back ready, galvanized, to redeem her "ooh la-la"
Violet is PERFECTION in every molecule of her being.
Steve would be proud of this piece of art. Really cool to see Steve and Visage beeing honored.
You remind me of Marc Almond in both your voice and looks out of drag. You're a star, Violet. Your work is always so beautiful
I had to do a double take. I thought it was Marc Almond at first.
This is so Depeche Mode, I’m lovin it
Love that we’re getting some boy violet too 💕
Oh wow this could of really been a hit back in the 80s. The music, the visuals are beyond stunning. In and out of drag the looks were perfect.
It was a hit back in the 80s, its a Cover of
Visage : Fade to Grey which came out in 1980
It was a hit in the 80s.lol ruclips.net/video/vMPR6Ujop4k/видео.html
What the fuck are you talking about?! The original Fade To Grey from the KING of Club Culture - Mr Steve Strange - with Visage made Fade To Grey one of the BIGGEST hits of the 80s. You poor young people know NOTHING!
Serving Marc Almond and brunette Toyah Willcox. Even a bit of young Dave Gahan in there. Fabulous!
The aesthetics of a perfect marriage between beautiful and handsome!
I CAN'T WATCH THIS WITHOUT THINKING ON DEPECHE MODE AND I LOVE IT.♥ (In all capital letters, no screaming intented)
I was on so many many 1980’s video shoots with Kevyn Aucoin, and we would dream of the day we could produce a video if this quality. Bravo!
I'm sorry but boy Chachki is everything 🤤❤
Ok, the Jennifer Juniper Stratford/Violet connection is everything!! All we need now is a Geneva Jacuzzi/JJS/Violet collab!!! This is so beautiful and as someone old enough to remember when the original came out, this is such a respectfully done homage!
I was looking for Visage - Fade to gray video and found this video! I totally love it! FtG is one of my favorites 80's songs. This is so incredibly well made. Reminds me to Visage, Depêche mode, Petshop boys, Boy George. ❤️🎉
He and she, are both gorgeous 😍💕
Incredibly handsome and beautiful .
Violet out of drag has always reminded me of Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode.
Clock the MAKEUP FOREVER! This is fierce mama. I wish you did more! You have such a unique, high-end fashion, artistic eye that is lacking in the world & we need more!
"Fade to Grey" is one of the best songs from the 80's, it's pretty much perfection. I'm glad Violet did it, she did a good job, yet there really wasn't much to the do. It's almost the exact same song, so it'd be hard to make it bad. I see she stayed in the aesthetic with the video, creating a cheesy, cheap set just like the 80's. I would have liked to have seen a couple of shots with a more reverent Steve Strange make up vibe. Steve would be very happy to see it, and would approve I believe. RIP Steve
Good insight. This was actuly my first time hearing this song, and I worked backwards. I see violets interpretation not as a direct mirror, however as a respect tribute and self expression. Vistage had a a slice of camp, whereas this was slightly sensual. I never would have looked up the original without your comment!
It is far from the original, different structure, the piano solo doesn´t exist in the original, plus the new effects, etc.
This style suits your voice perfectly. Just immaculate in every conceivable way.
One of my favorite songs from my childhood. This is just incredible Violet!!!
Violet as a man is very Soft Cell. This version is sublime!
I love this version, this is pure fire for the dance floor!
the video clip is so amazing & fashion.
Perfect homage and revitalisation of the original. Beautiful. Jennifer Juniper Stratford is the perfect director for this.
I don’t know what it was like growing up in the 80’s, but from what I’ve seen these videos always give off the same energy as those music videos, and it’s just so nice. Nostalgic yet also modern 🥰
That was hot
Шедевр ! Божественный видеоклип ❤❤❤
Это точно
OMG!!! THAT'S EVERYTHING!!! 💖 SHE'S SERVING AGAIN!!!
Violet's discography continues to leave me in awe
Ummmm.... THIS IS EVERYTHING. Absolutely brilliant reimagining of this new wave classic.
Violet is the best looking drag queen and the best looking queen out of drag he is the Angela Houston of drag! Unbelievably talented and fire! what an icon!!!❤️
Adorable
serving depeche mode drag realness
I still cannot believe this is real, my friends and I have all been waiting for folks to rediscover Visage.
And credit Visage when they are being celebrated not Depeche Mode lol
Having loved the original track for decades this just really blew my mind. Well done, done exremely well, very artistic and giving us true 80s vibes. Love it
Takes me back to the club's of the 80's for sure!!!!
Musically it’s giving me some Depeche Mode-meets electroclash vibes in the best way. Visually - nothing compares. It’s such a moment.
Wow! I was stunned by this video! The aesthetics successfully reminding me the early 80's, outifts, make-ups, fashion design, sceneries (simple but effective), even the video filter to simulate an ancient one, it could be broadcasted as a New Romantic one during the real time the song was released. Of course Violet's performance was something else. Stunning in drag, hot and sexy as a man. Effortlessly seductive. Certainly one of my favorites so far. Cheers and thumbs up for Violet!
Ooo this song gives me Depeche Mode vibes! I LIVE FOR THIS!😍 The spike collar, the chains and lock makes me think about Martin Gore when he was in his S&M phase! The makeup he was wearing with the silver dress! The sharp blush and contour! Violet makes me want to watch old Duran Duran videos just relive how Nick Rhodes chiseled his cheekbones! Bravo!
It's by the band Visage. Same era and scene.
the visuals are iconic
Hello Violet, excellent remix d'un titre culte des uniques années 80, vivement les prochaines, tout mon respect, bonjour de France!!!
Nunca pensé ver todas las cosas que me encantan en un solo video: Visage, Violet, New wave, 80's make-up. Bellísimo. 😍
Tambien. Me encantó.
i was not born in the 80s but i grew up with my brother and sisters collection of 80s cassette tapes in the UK, i adore 80s british electro
Well if someone was going to remake this classic it was a tall order, and this has been done exactly right. Bravo!
Love Violet's 80s era
