Couldn’t believe this channel had less than 200 subscribers halfway thru the video when I subscribed, great format and professional editing, looking forward to following this, the algorithm will undoubtedly eventually figure it out, keep at it!
When we dine out we'll have a glass of wine or a drink. When the bill comes, I deduct the bar tab out AND then apply my tipping to just the food and servers care for us.
Here in Miami, some high end steakhouses have huge markups on their wine and then a $95 corkage fee. Corkage fees are rising in Miami restaurants vs two years ago.
@@CorkandJourney Sorry... it was $95 but I guess I missed the shift key. The Restaurants are Dirty French Steak House here in Miami and Casadonna Italian here as well....Both have a 95 dollar corkage fee.
Oldschool, that is OBSCENE!!!! This is why I love Spain. Any roadside restaurant/cafeteria will include a bottle of wine (or half a bottle for a single person) with a 3 course fixed menu (menu del dia) for between 12 to 18 euros. AND the local wine (usually around 11% to 13% abc) they provide is totally enjoyable and food friendly. Me encanta Espana.
You nailed it. The surprising decline of red wine sales is the same reason for decline in fast food, vehicles, and technology: high prices caused by greed. Prices are getting so ridiculously expensive and consumers aren't dumb. When prices get too high consumers stop buying.
Wine should not be as expensive. I have just come back to the UK from Florida and the underlying non-wine costs are up by 40% since Covid. There used to be some potential for ordering wine but not so much right now as the baseline ticket is so high for eating out.
Agreed. It’s one of the main reasons we started the database of corkage fee. To help find restaurants that allow outside bottles so you can afford and enjoy a beautiful bottle of wine with your meal. Thanks for your comment.
100% Customers arnt stupid. No one likes to get ripped off. Movie theatre near me sells a perfectly fine bottle of zin for $30 and I’d say we buy a bottle almost every time we go. Can’t even remember when I bought a bottle of wine at a restaurant due to the prices.
There are plenty who have a reasonable wine list, but when those list get out of wack, it really is disappointing. It is always great when you find that great bottle at a reasonable mark up.
Uhhmmm you guys ever read medical research? People are quitting both fast food and alcohol because it's nice to be healthy. How much alcohol is good for you?

Thanks for the support. We will get there. It just takes some time, and a bit more promotion. Glad you like the show.

A $495 corkage fee? Holy crap thats unreal
That is the highest I've ever heard off. The French Laundry is $200. What is the name of the restaurant? I want to add it to our data base!

Yep. And that's why we started the Corkage listings. It can ease the pain when the bill comes at the end of dinner.

"Monday, January 13, 2024" is a verbal typo, given that this video was just released four days ago. 😉
Always happens when it’s a new year! Unfortunately we can’t correct verbal typo. But thanks for the heads up! Appreciate you watching.
