- The Psalms command us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, so today we set aside time to pray in accordance with Psalm 122:
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces."
For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you."
Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.
- Psalm 122:6-9
As servants of God, we also love the very stones and dust of Zion:
You will arise and have mercy on Zion;
For the time to favor her,
Yes, the set time, has come.
For Your servants take pleasure in her stones,
And show favor to her dust.
So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord,
And all the kings of the earth Your glory.

The Lord was crucified in Jerusalem. Why the city is called Sodom and Gomorrah figuratively? It might be because of the desecration that will take place , in that city at that time. I would say it would be during the tribulation's period where the Holy Spirit and the church of Christ will be off the earth and the man of lawlessness will invade the planet, including Jerusalem.

This is OT. This is when God was with them under King David. As it says, "the set time has come". That was then. "God I will seek your good". Are they? They spit on Christians, reject Christ and hold the biggest homosexual parade in the world. When you pray for Israel, pray they accept Jesus and repent of their wicked ways so they may be saved. That passage has nothing to do with current Israel which is being punished. Just like he did with them with Babylon and Egypt. It is so clear.
