So many great Benvolio moments, but I was definitely missing the simply *iconic* “na na na na na…Benvolio fais çi, Benvolio fais ça” of Original French Benvolio (also his expressions are top). I’m super biased towards Grégori Baquet’s Benvolio, though, he is my fave
I didn"t even start watching it and I've already given a like 'cus I know this will be good. I mean it's about one of my favorite musicals. How could it be bad?!

Grégori is great to be honest I really love his Benvolio❤ And one has to consider he was the FIRST, that's actually pretty impressive how his Benvolio kept slaying even after all the competition that came after him!

I only just recently got to know the Toho version and for me my favourite is Miura! He absolutely broke me with his performance the way you see from the moment Mercutio died he’s basically just hanging on by a thread. Also the kiss he gives Romeo it’s such a tiny moment but it means soooo much to me. Kimura Benvolio is a very close second. The Toho versions really did get Benvolio exactly right with how I always pictured him
There's only one truth in this life, and that is the FACT that Toho has the BEST Benvolio. Miura and Kimura were literally revolutionary. From my personal take on Shakespearean Benvolio I eat Kimura's Benvolio up, but Miura emotional and soft Benvolio is just so good. I should add Miura more in my videos, I of course mostly have clips of Kimura because his Benvolio is the light of my eyes, but I'll make sure to add more soft Miura moments when I get to make another video. The little kiss he gives Romeo at the end omg I forgot about that, I really should have added that because it's so heartbreaking and soft. Well..... i have an excuse for part 2, I will never get tired of talking about Benvolio
Benvolio is simply the best charechter in the play..I always cry on Cyril Nicollai's version of comment lui dire it just breaks my heart

It's surprisingly very easy for me to choose the Best Benvolio in my opinion, that's definitely Tatsunari Kimura. He's 100% Benvolio, he's literally how I always wanted Benvolio to be and he's definitely the best thing in the Toho production. He's followed really close by Miura himself, who did an equally amazing job, I just think Kimura fits my idea of Benvolio a little bit better. In general, Toho production may have lots of problems, but they understood the assignment with Benvolio.
Aside the amazing Toho performances, my favorites will always be Arpád Zsolt Mészáros and Riccardo Maccaferri. In the Hungarian production they took a LOT of liberties in writing Benvolio, but he still managed to feel so coherent with what Benvolio was supposed to represent, and he genuinely slays Benvolio's breakdown. When it comes to the italian production, I hate how they make every character feel so fictional and exaggerated, but when it comes to Benvolio there was clearly some deep study into the character made by Riccardo. He feels pretty real and very coherent to Shakespeare's view

@@MrBlock-qe7hi you really should it's really good. One of my personal favorites, despite the many problems it has here and there. I mostly can't move on from Toho Benvolio, I literally cannot stress how much I love both Kimura and Miura. Definitely check Toho production 2019 black cast (Kimura) and white cast (Miura)
@@lapapayagaya thank you for the recommendation on exact production I have been following someone who’s been uploading the 2021 production which has had its ups and downs overall
Not huge on mercutio in that production mainly with the rewrites on je reve the modern setting is iffy overall and I could care less for some songs
Pros have been tybalt for sure really dose seem almost self pitying in a sense like “ oh poor me without Juliet “ in a less sympathetic sense and the best version of the opening number imo
