- Someone had to do this, and I don't know, I haven't seen anyone else make a whole video on it, so I took the job myself!
Anyways, this is all based on what I've learned after 6 years of street dancing, 2 years of psychology and personal opinion. Each to their own, so if you disagree, that's okay.

I do too, it's just Howie sort of got the stronger sides of the song which made him seem stronger (in my opinion 😅) and oh absolutely! Carlos would never😌

I personally love Antoine’s solo in this, but it’s clear to see that Carlos absolutely crushed him
I thought what you said about Carlos and Antoine was interesting and also plays to the dynamics of both casts. North High is very selfish and self obsessed. They're not really team players and at the end of the day only care about themselves individually. East High is a family first and they make sure to leave no one behind. I thought this was demonstrated in a cool way when East was helping Carlos preform unlike North who let their castmate fend for himself.

He was probably hiding himself from Kourtney since she found out he was part of north high at the end of the episode

also for the belle vs belle, you could tell that ashlyn was confident, even with her previous insecurities as belle. you can see see lily back off a bit, as well as lash out at ashlyn (when yelling "We'll kill the beast!"). that indicated that lily was intimidated by the high note that ashlyn hit

What I find very interesting is during the Carlos vs Antoine part, Carlos circles around Antoine like he knows he has the upper hand and when Antoine tries to one up him he thinks he's taking charge and trying to be so when he walks toward Carlos is like he's trying to corner him but then Carlos comes back with the group and Antoine suddenly feels scared and backs away when Carlos is with the group. Not to meet that Antoine is alone during the Lumiere battle. But Carlos has his east high team (family).

I think that when East high sang together their voices sort of harmonised together witch showes they work together really well wheras North high still had the harmonies and really good voices they just didnt sound overall as good together as they would induvidually
Carlos vs. Antoine:
I had theater for four years in highschool and we also learned how you can see the difference between who has the upper hand und who has not.
The thing with being calm is absolutley correct.
One important thing you didn‘t mention are the movements. The person who has the upper hand has bigger movements with their hands and feet. At 2:31 you can see that Antoine make little steps and Carlos make big steps while they are going in a circle. Also Carlos had a big movement with his hands when the others pushed him in the air.
Also the person who has the upper hand looks down at the other person. You can see that later in the show when East High had their perfomance of „Beauty and the Beast“- Prince „Richard“ 😉is looking down at the old lady in the beginning. And here in the video, 2:33 Carlos is looking down at Antoine.
So obviously Carlos had the upper hand and won the Lumiere battle 😊 AS HE SHOULD
I love this, thank you so much for sharing! I love the little details we can notice (depending on what we've learnt! I didn't have theatre so I love seeing what those that did/do have to say!)

also, the east high group sees the drama cluc as more of a family, while the north high students see it as just a club
the east high family thing just proves that when seb said “friendship” after miss jenn said “we have something north high doesn’t” he should’ve gotten reply that said “yes seb”

This video was fantastic! I love how you did each point and decided based on your experience of dance and psychology. You didn't bias it as some people would have and you gave both sides a fair chance. And OMG I'm so glad you came back to the costume thing at the end! Bravo!
My thing with Antoine vs Carlos is Carlos is a much bigger character than Antoine so of course he’s gonna get the batter larger solo. But I do prefer Andrews voice over frankies. So due to that section being mainly vocal I would say Andrew. Like his vibrato ugh I love it. I really wish Andrew would of sung more. Or like we could’ve seen north highs be our guest.
And I’m so mad Ej didn’t get to sing during this. It is literally his song wth.
I personally like Frankie's voice over Andrews, but it's all personal! I wish we could've heard more from Andrew during the season, but if we get a season 3, then maybe we will!
I agree with the EJ part! He is Gaston, so he should've gotten the chance!

It took till watching this video to notice North High breaking their own "No costumes" rule. I guess that's what Carlos was pointing at.
In my opinion in the first round I feel like like you should have given East high that point because you mentioned that Lily had said " No PROPS, Costumes, just talent", And North high had the beasts head of the costume. Even tho Ricky wasn't at his best he did do really good, but wasn't wearing any prop or costume
The point was to hide that I'd look at that later, at first I only focused on voice and performance then I focused on rules
ricky isn't even gonna sing it in the musical

Well I am A proud South and North Americans 🇺🇸 and I vote for East High School because I already did A Lot of 3 High School Musical Movies A Lot recently and Lately A Lot of times

I think the point should’ve went to North high for the first group battle. As someone who’s also danced for years and has been in a marching band that’s competed for many awards performance wise, I find that when they’re dancing on the stairs they’re able to show off a lot more than East high. The first part of the dance “it’s a beast, one as tall as a mountain” has a lot going on in its first half right from the beginning. Some go high and some go low or to the sides which gives it a lot of dynamic already and gives you something to rewatch over and over again. They change formations in a pretty creative and clean way to keep the dancing enticing. Then they get to the part “we won’t rest till he’s good and deceased.” This part is pretty cool too because they keep it even more interesting as they do roll offs with their dance moves (left to right) instead of trying to keep it in sync which would just be stale and uninteresting.
Singing wise, I think East high has the best vocals of course but north high kinda killed it best because if you listen closely, you can hear (most likely Lily) singing in a really high register and it just contrasts and stands out so much more against East highs part.
Aside from this, I think everything else was pretty agreeable so thanks for the entertaining video !
The thing about the costume point was he wore it cuz he did t want Courtney to see that he was in the play for that school. That’s literally the only reason why he was wearing it in the first place. Also the rules were to see who is better no costumes no makeup just talent. So him wearing the costume doesn’t matter at all. Just saying. Lastly disqualification doesn’t count cuz the performance was the purpose of the battle nothing else. The costume honestly hinders his guitar playing let’s be honest here as well as would hinder the singing so yeah. Either way east high still won that by a long shot that’s why in the next episode they were restricted to practice for a week. So north high scared af after that performance
The point was just that, they said no costumes, but he was wearing one. According to technicalities that does mean he did break one of the rules. I know he did that so Kourtney couldn't see that it was him, but hey, North High set the rules! But yeah, East High did win, and they got scared because of that, without a doubt!

I think Lily one the battle of the belles. Ashlyn’s voice is amazing but that one high note that she hit shouldn’t determine that she wins. Personally I think Lily has a better voice.

If those jeans were skinny jeans, I would've agreed, however, those were baggy jeans. Baggy jeans are never a disadvantage and is really easy to dance in
