      @Sevicify Год назад +5

      @@harryhall4001 No they really didn't add too much and no it isn't necessarily bad. Using "too much" has no negative impact on thermal performance, that it does is nothing but a myth that has been proven false by outlets such as LTT and Gamer's Nexus. The cooler retention will squeeze out the excess leaving just enough for optimal thermal transfer. The only real concerns with the squeezed out excess is cleaning and the risk of shorting components if you use an electrically conductive compound but most modern compounds aren't electrically conductive. You should err on the side of too much to avoid using too little which most certainly can impact thermal performance and is actually bad especially on larger multi-die chips, or ideally spread it yourself instead of relying solely on cooler retention.

I feel both the x and dot would spread more, dot would still be my preference, just want to see if there’s a bigger difference pushing it evenly down yeah it’ll pull from the corners but when you first put it on, the cooler alone pressed down on it first, the the bolts would
    Edit: i rewatched it, you did put quite a bit of force on them…. Again, from the corners, not the center. when you screw it down it’ll pull from the corners but the cooler is the first thing that spread the thermal paste and then the screws help it even it out more and but more pressure on it.
    Why not drill some holes into a bigger acrylic piece and screw in on to the board to act like it’s a actual cooler being mounted to see how it spreads and you did put very little paste on the dot compared to the X
