I know! I don't get annoyed when I lose fish very often but that disappointed me a bit. Even if I had of got a visual on it before it got off it would have been much better than just losing a big fish out deep.
👋Hi Robbie. Another banger vid mate👍.I have found that silver perch are a lot more predacious than most people think. If I can offer some advice🤞 try slowly bringing your worm back along the bottom to you with a few pauses along the way fishing as little lead as possible. Hope this helps and keep up the great work champ Cheers 🥂
Hi Rob thanksa so much for your tips and your kind words mate. I will definitely be trying that next summer. The water is getting very cold in this area now and I suspect that I may have left my run a bit late.
Thank you so much Pete. You know it is not until I reviewed the timelapse after close to 2 hours of filming it that I realised which direction the clouds were moving!
Thanks so much Brian. I will definitely be using that method, probably more so next summer when things heat up again. With the fishing being so slow at the moment, I like bottom fishing just to increase my chances of catching something....anything!! LOL
G'day mate I have never eaten, or caught one to be honest. I do not know of the laws as they are protected by size and bag limits in some waterways and totally off limits in others.
@@bpfishing2509 I just looked. In Victoria they can be taken only from lakes north of the great dividing range. Doing of the great dividing range they can be taken from any where, so they're not really that protected. They're only protected in rivers that flow into thr Murray River.
Good luck on your Silver Perch journey mate, you'll know you have one when it tap tap taps like a Golden yet peels off the line like crazy, like I said in an earlier vid, these things are pure muscle. Those hats going on sale soon? Love supporting smaller Aussie RUclips channels like You, Dead Kelly and Sick Puppy 4x4 Adventures.
hahaha "put it in and hope for the best" love it! Always tried to live my life by that principle aaaaanndd 3 kids later..... ;) Jokes aside that was a great vid Robbie, sunrise is hands down the best part of the day and that was right up there with one of the better ones. I'd love to explore that dredge barge, never knew we used them here in oz and the concept has always fascinated me
G'day Robbie. Lovely scenery and music in this video. Really enjoyed that! Shame about losing that first fish. Looked like it had a bit of substance to it! That redfin was still a great complimentary catch, but I imagine that just being out in nature, during such a beautiful sunrise, well that makes it all worth it :)
Thanks mate. That last photo is a HDR composite. Taken with my phone HDR mode and then "auto adjust" in Adobe Lightroom mobile. LOL Technology is amazing!
Last year silvers were the only thing I could catch here in the Campaspe. All smallish though but that's a good sign they're coming back. Strangely I haven't caught any the last few months except a 25cm last week on a frozen shrimp
excellent Rob! My daughter and I fished the Loddon river around Laanacoorie yesterday for 3 hours and caught only one tiny yella! I reckon the fishing is starting to slow down readying for winter. I saw some massive carp in a shallow lagoon but they wouldn't touch the bait.
Hey Les thanks for the report mate. I agree, it is slowing down as the water cools. Also, there are heaps of big carp cruising around the shallows in this area at the moment too.
Wow, are you getting creative with the time lapse and transition effects Robbie, very nice! Pity you didn't land that good bite, maybe you need to listen to some music - something catchy?
That fish you lost certainly seemed to have some weight to it, are there any carp in there? Silver Perch love the edge of sandbars but that's all I know about them. Are there any sandy areas in the dredge hole?
Great Video! In lakes or little streams where Redfin have no other fish to compete with I always release but in the rivers where they prey on the native fish I get rid of them as humanly as possible
Thanks mate. There's so many things to consider. For example, Murray cod and Yellowbelly will dominate over redfin. If there are too many redfin and not enough cod and yellas, the redfin will eat the natives as soon as they are stocked. It only takes for a few of those natives to grow big enough to eat the redfin and before you know it redfin numbers start to decline naturally. It's different with Macquarie Perch and Silver Perch though as tghey have much different feeding patterns and temperaments and don't grow as big.
Thanks so much I appreciate that so much thanks for giving me a shear on Facebook that’s so cool. Thanks for letting me know what type of surface lure it was my next one to buy is a buzz Jet
Thanks heaps Brock. With the amount that have been stocked I have a feeling that over the next few years Silver Perch will be a very popular catch for many anglers.
robbiefishing yeh mate they are never really deep only about 5 metres from the bank close to structure sometimes they can be a very hard fish to hook much the same as yellow belly but not long mate
Hey robbie i love catching silver perch iv caught most of mine on bread on the surface and up here they seem to prefer shitty weather especially cold during or just after the rain
@@robbiefishing just wanna help in any way i can and know how watching ur vids has actually been helping me for years especially when it came to redfin fishing
Great vid Robbie love the sun rise and pics I’ve had good success catching silvers in the Murray on the down stream side of sandbars using small hooks and worms cut small strips of fresh water mussel and slowly moving it along the bottom all the best in your quest for silver
Cool video loved the sunrise.
Thanks so much Ritchard.
👍 thumbs up
Thanks heaps Cam.
Bugger that did look like a bloody good fish

Spectacular photography Rob. Well put together. Time laps with the reflections on the water. Awesome. Very creative. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much Pete. You know it is not until I reviewed the timelapse after close to 2 hours of filming it that I realised which direction the clouds were moving!
Have you ever done any metal detecting or panning there?
Hey mate I've done a bit of metal detecting but not panning.
Good video Robbie, I’ve found that using a small float with a bunch worms works much better then bottom fishing for silver perch.
Thanks so much Brian. I will definitely be using that method, probably more so next summer when things heat up again. With the fishing being so slow at the moment, I like bottom fishing just to increase my chances of catching something....anything!! LOL
Do silver and gold perch taste nice? I can't wait to give some fishing a go next time I'm in Melbourne
G'day mate I have never eaten, or caught one to be honest. I do not know of the laws as they are protected by size and bag limits in some waterways and totally off limits in others.
Do not touch the silver peach the are protected and yells have to be over 35 cm
@@bpfishing2509 Hey mate are the protected in Lakes and Rivers?

We use to eat them before they were protected. I think the flesh is nice texture but the flavor isn't anything special.

Awesome Thanks heaps mate. I will check them out.
Good effort mate, when that truck came rolling in "our the serenity" lol. Good moves. ATB Moose.
Hi Moose!
Hahahaha there's goes my serenity. LOL
Nice morning's fishing Robbie!
Thanks UF.
Might have to come back to bendigo Robbie and ill take you to where i caught my silver perch :-)
Echuca is a great place for silver Perch, last time I went up I ended up with 8 (all released)
Yeah mate, I live there. Where about's were you fishing here? Used to catch them as a kid, then they got rare, now making a comeback.
Awesome video mate. Like the pictures of the sun rise... also like the hat... 😜
Mate that’s the best time lapse to date! And the glassed water still was amazing, stick with it mate I wanna see you get a silver
Thanks heaps buddy. When I was shooting that timelapse I had absolutely no idea which way the clouds were moving. Hahaha

Hi Dimitri thank you so much mate. You're not wrong, it is very grounding to be able to sit in nature like that for a while.
Great looking sunrise! That last still you took, was than an 'art' filter shot to look like an oil painting?
Thanks mate. That last photo is a HDR composite. Taken with my phone HDR mode and then "auto adjust" in Adobe Lightroom mobile. LOL Technology is amazing!
Oh ok, NEVER got that far into the minutiae of photo manipulation!
I just shoot everything on manual!
my friend has 2 pet silver perch and a baby tupong

Thanks Dave. My mate Rohan from RKJ fishing catches a few silvers over there too. Hopefully next summer I can join him one evening.

hahahaha I see what you just done there Frank. LMAO It seems that every time I have a few beats running in the back ground I catch a fish. hahaha
Some great shots in there mate, what a spectacular place it is
Thanks mate, sure is amazing at sunrise!

RKJ Fishing I can agree when the boat racers are on they must school up because I saw my uncle catch 6 of them in 3 hrs
Hey mate arencarp in there but not in huge numbers for some reason. The entire dredge has a sandy bottom.
I also caught a Murray cod at Lauriston reservoir it’s was only 14 cm and it was my first cod
WOW Well done mate. A fish is a fish at any size. I am positive they will get bigger for you as time goes by mate.
Great video Robbie, I mean it’s called fishing not not catching ha, hopefully you will catch a silver perch next time
thanks for the spoiler
Thanks mate. I have a feeling that I may have to wait until after winter now mate, things are really starting to slow right down now.

random question, but how do you kill carp
Theres a number of ways mate. I usually either whack them on the head with a stick or stomp on their head with my heal.
The time lapse was sweeeeeet!
Really good stills as well, very nice colours 👍
Thanks Robbie
(Oh still looking for 'All things outdoors)
Haha thanks mate. I think he has a comment right here in the comments on this video.

Silvers and yellows are very similar to eachother mate won’t be long till you’ll be catching hundreds
Thanks heaps Brock. With the amount that have been stocked I have a feeling that over the next few years Silver Perch will be a very popular catch for many anglers.

The thing is, are they legal water pumpings?
One would certainly hope so Phillip. If they're not then I reckon they will not be happy with me for sharing it to 2,000+ people on RUclips.

Hi Renee thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I think I will have to head down there at some point.
Was about to post the same. They seem to congregate at the end of the bars, especially during mating season, around November I think.
Thanks so much
My pleasure buddy. Awesome video, I just gave you a share in Facebook. :)
Luv ya hat...
Thanks mate. I am really hoping to have some for sale at some stage during the winter.
Hi
Hey buddy.
Great vid we must go fishing some time
