My granpa was a gunner on a captured Soviet T-34-85 during WW2. Never seen one from the inside before. Good video.

You can still see carvings recorded on every possible surface by generations of conscripts.

Yeah, this is also what I thought. A well maintained Russian tank, well at least as far as the drivers steering and gear apparatus is concerned, is perfectly fine. The more experienced the driver, moreover, the stronger and fitter he is, the less problems you will have. With drivers also invariably being the mechanics on most tanks, you can guarantee they'd make driving their tanks easier. That is of course if they lived long enough. I think one of the main problems with critiques of Russian tanks in particularly KVs, is their tank crews were effectively used as meat shields encased in metal. Furthermore, the Kv engine was under powered which caused all manner of stresses. You had to know it, to get the best out of it. As sad, you didn't have much chance to get too know anything much, if you were inexperienced of course.

-- Wehraboo(s) are not going to like your statement about Panther(or any other German WWII tank gunner for that matter), since its a very stereotypical meme, that T-34 tanks were blind, while German tanks had all kind of observation devices that got covered with Schürzen or removed all together later on during the war, more so then T-34 tank, thus making German tanks blinder towards the end of war.

"Wehraboo(s) are not going to like your statement" is an accurate summary of every one of my posts ;)

What is the magnification and field of vie for the sights? Because the camera makes it seem like the promary sight has worse magnification than the periscope which cant be right.

The periscope is unmagnified, the gun sight is 2.5x. Unfortunately holding up a phone camera in front of the vision devices doesn't give the same picture as it would when you look through it with your eyes, so the magnification appears different.
