I personally think these AI search engines will not show only one search result for the searches inquiring about services and products. They will go with showing multiple options like they used to do now. More options - more places to slide in the ads - more money. What if the user doesn't like the presented result, then he has to search again, that would be a great inconvenience.

A point that you didn't include is the number of testers on lambda as compared to number of testers (Us) on chat gpt and I have read some paperwork on GPT model it's quite robust for a language model And don't forget that they are just using one medium (Text) to used as there data to train these (lambda,chat gpt)AI model also there are multiple topics in AI itself that need a lot of research to be done too. I don't think their goal is just that simple as Open AI is trying to create AGI (Artificial general intelligence) so they need even larger datasets for including sound,images,videos, and later... Sensory data for it to work as an AGI and that will be long term takeover strategy.

I don’t believe that ChatGPT like models backed search engines would be designed to give just one answer - forgetting about sponsored links for a second, even if they’re trying to be as objective as possible, solely based on the data available to them, biases like survivorship bias may still plague the single link that the model outputs/recommends to a given query. This in my humble opinion is not sustainable by design as “the right answer” to a non-quantitative/factual output rendering question is almost always up for debate/is subjective. This is the reason we all have our own individual preferences and freedom to evaluate and ultimately choose.
