Very nice videos bro. It is a lot about understanding environment, yourself and how fish react when feeling your presence. After years and years of spearfishing I think body language is key. Much more than material (even material nowadays is amazing). It is incredible to see how close one can get to fish or how close fish will swim to the spearo. Set the mind, relax body language. Works very nice. Great you share this with people. Don't have time to edit my videos so nicely. Love your edits.
simply amazing what you are doing Anvar! From one side your videos already were above the best videos on the tube.. but this serie idea and the quality of the editing (and dives/colleagues etc, of course) is simply astonishing !! Thanks for teaching, inspiring and sharing. L
Hi Lorke! Thanks! Yeah, I understand the responsibility and try to put as much as I can into those short films. I am glad you find them useful. And my team and I will continue with them :) Share those with your partner though. So that he doesnt scare your fish :)
Deep diver+Deep knowledge+Deep personality +Deep cast skill+Deep teaching ability = ANVAR. people are paying more than 500euro for taking half of this information in your channel this is free of charge. Maybe you saved tens of people life with your correct information thanks too much......
bravo anvar! another outstanding video well explained with epic scenes! I really like this one! you really have stepped up your game with this video and your other aspetto. amazing work
Hey Anvar, Beautiful work (generally nice framing and color grading and Antonio's location and framing is just stunning! - Yeah, I am a nerdy photographer;-)). I'm super grateful that you all share your knowledge. Thanks so much! Now, a question: There is one thing I always wonder about when it comes to groupers, but I only dive on vacations so not too much water time to make solid observations myself yet, but say you spook a grouper - do you generally come back to the same spot to check on it after a few minutes? As far as I know, they are pretty territorial and like to stay in the same little area, right? Do you find that sometimes, they will be right next to where they were first spooked or is it generally best to give up on that one and search elsewhere?
Oh! THanks for the comment! I am trying to pay attention to framing, but the material is coming from different sources so its difficult to get it all right. We did the Antonios part together, if you check out the lights behind him, the one on the very right is my house :) As far as the question goes, its a sketchy issue. It depends on the time, the location, the level of awareness of that particular fish, etc. It does work here, in Cyprus, sometimes... But usually if the fish (dusky grouper) lurks inside the hole, it probably will stay there. The most it could do is to get the nose out, so to say 'still at home, but checking out what is up around'. Broomtail groupers/goldblotches feel better about roaming in/out. But, groupers are very territorial. If you found grouper's den, most likely it will stay in this den.
Thanks so much for the reply:-) I was in Cyprus for a job a few months back. Had I known about you back then I would have loved to swing by and chat. Especially at a house at such a location. I did love your island. Was just not there long enough. BTW, I did dive with a local spearo in Thailand who is very much a grouper whisperer and what sometimes worked for him, after having lost a chance on a spooked grouper, was to give it a few mins, maybe even do a few drops somewhere nearby and then return. But on the return, the grouper that was resting outside its hole before, would not be out in the same place but still hiding in its cave - but it would feel secure enough to just about peak out. So, he would drop and basically aim all the time at the cave he felt it could be in and as soon as he saw its face, he would shoot (shallow reef, very skittish fish) and he actually had quite a decent success rate with this. That sounds very much like your observations of it perhaps being "home and checking the outside". Thanks again. And hey, very happy to hear you got your curvy (CF) girl back:-)
it's remarkable that you always go to the high rocks underwater; and in the end you will find a big fish waiting for you 4:26 ; can you please explain to us why do big fish prefer this place? I remark this spearfishing many time in your videos; keep up the work regards
As usual , Great video from you Anvar . full of useful information . this is what we needed to know and learn , Always the best Anvar thanks a lot for this
Saludos.
Thanks for the comment! And I love that you disagree! Thats the point! Challenge your/our own thoughts and beliefs. But I am with Antonios on this one, fish evaluate/perceive the world with an array of different senses. Sharks read the electrical 'field', some fish are particularly good with smells. But the main way for normal (Lets use the word normal) fish is their lateral lines reading the vibration of the water (real vibrations/sounds). Eyesight is there too, but usually it is not as develeoped as the previous one.
