I love that you two can appreciate the story and don't harp too much on the animation/art. This anime gets exponentially better in every facet -- I'm excited to see you guys' journey through the series!
Asta now has two swords: First is his Demon-Slayer sword, which by this point you’re already familiar with. Second is the Demon-Dweller sword, which, since it’s lighter, allows him to keep up with faster attacks. It also gives him ranged capability - the ability to release his anti-magic in projectiles. Finally, the true hidden power of this sword is it allows him to borrow magic from those he’s close with - in this case he borrowed Noelle’s water magic.
