@TheWolffAndTheMelody just finished watching it. I would love to talk to Tobias about how his writing process. Was a great interview. Got a new sub here
This is a beautiful song. "Ro" (pronounced "roo") is Swedish for peace/rest/tranquility. Melodic black metal such as this definitely conveys this feeling. Studying the lyrics, it appears to be about finally finding peace at the end of the world. Although the Ragnarök (the end of the world in Old Norse mythology) is not specifically mentioned the last line is about finding peace under "Gjallarbron" which is the bridge to Hel (hell). Hel is one of the nine realms of Norse Mythology. Sedna is mentioned twice in the lyrics but I can't figure out how she fits into this, though, as Sedna is the Inuit goddess of the sea.
Ro also means 'to row', so at every part of the lyrics Ro is mentioned it means both calm/to row, it's up for interpretation. Sedna is also a transneptunian object which has an incredibly long orbit around the sun. Sedna is meant to symbolize the absolute calm you feel while floating through space and see the end of everything finally unfurls.
Since you loved "Kristina från Duvemåla" you should try "Av lie och börda" by Wormwood. The song is about the Swedish emigration to America. A little more harsh than "Ro" but the layers are there. Fantastic video too. And subtitles in both English and Swedish
@@ksu7595 Thanks for the recommendation. I actually did listen to most of their stuff already :) Ro is still my favourite from them, but I also liked the Arkivet album.
this song is just the perfect closure to the entire album. When you listen to it in its entirety the emotions go wild on "RO". I can't stop listening to the Star since the day it came out! Definitely album of the year!
I realy realy love their new album ! you should check the first song on the album ! almost at the end there is a moment with children singing with the harsh vocal WOW !
I appreciate your reaction and that you enjoyed our album!

Yea the topic of the lyrics is interesting. I need to ask them what they mean.

Listen to their album "The Star" Its amazing!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I don't generally listen to black metal, my preference lies with melo-death like Insomnium but this album was pleasant.
Late to the party, but it sounds to me that you might like their song The Isolationist as well, Reccomend you check it out if you have not already.
