You have the most awesome and beautiful layouts. I am so glad that I can come to your channel to get any help I need. TY so much for making these videos for newbies and anyone else that might need a idea or tip for their planner. ❤❤😊
The types of planners I use have a monthly sidebar instead of daily. I write a lot of letters every month. A few years ago I started tracking who I'd already written to that month. I suspect before keeping that info I was writing some of the same people twice, others not at all. But I'll never know =).
This past week, I had several phone calls I needed to make that I was putting off. I listed them in the side bar. Since my planner is open all day, the list was staring me in the face constantly. I got them done because they were in my face!
I split mine up. I list out all the Must Do's for the week then I drop down a bit and list the stuff I'd like to get done at some point during the week. I do both lists when I'm decorating for that week, usually the Sat or Sun before. Then I plug them in to various days during the week once I see how my week is unfolding. It just really helps me to have the master list to work with, without committing my tasks to specific days ahead of time, which is imperative to me because of my fibro. Isn't it awesome how customize-able the planners are?
I use it as my master to-do list for the week. Then each morning I list the tasks I plan to do that day and cross them off on the master list as I cross them off the daily. I then forward any tasks that were not completed to the next week.
I love the washi box idea for the side bar. I use mine for priority lists or gratitude. Honestly never thought of using it for meal plan for the week.😅
I am so glad I stumbled upon your video. I just started a planner and I love your ideas! Your spreads are so elegant. I've added photos to my planner via Sproket Printing and use ruled sheets to summarize my days which I then put on the back of the planner. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas.
My sidebar on the monthly page of my catch-all will be big ticket items I need to complete...like getting my social security and Medicare set up. (When did I get so old?) My weekly sidebars seem to be different each week. I’m glad to see you do the same thing! Thank you for the great examples! It was fun to get another look at your amazing planner pages.
Oh Katie… when you figure that all out let me know. Who would have thought at 65 I would be so addicted. As a nurse I feel your heart and strength Mary Ellen. I watch the amazing videos daily and am known to rewatch as well. You are an amazing inspiration!
Lots of ideas. Currently I do the same every week - top 3 priority tasks for the week to make sure they get done and then a section for money spent each week. Occasionally I add a habit tracker or write down TV shows.
Hi Mary Ellen, How about listing things like Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc. Also guest list for parties. ideas for Gifts & cards to buy for 1st tip. Thank you so much for sharing this as I am a newbie and was on the fence about what to do. I hope these ideas are helpful.
I do something different every week too. I guess I don't have the right sticker books, i don't really think that I have any/many of those long stickers. I usually use a couple box stickers together or just decorate it. In my budget monthly I use it for tracking spending, sporadic payments and things i need to be aware of for the month. In my weekly pages I use it for things that I need to do but don't have any specific date. I think the household sticker book is the one with chores.
I use my side bar to put things that need to be done but doesn't have to be done on a specific day. This way, I can do them whenever I have time to do them
The weekly and monthly view sidebars can be used for habit trackers. The monthly view I have a list of dates to remember (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) . Not so unique but it works. On the weekly view maybe I could put the projects that need focus with the tasks on the day assigned to the project.
I use an ECLP & I use a full box, habit trackers, one of the stackable side bars to track what I’m grateful for and one box as my best moment that week. As of now, I been consistently doing that.
I'm fairly new to planning and started with a horizontal planner, which only has a side bar on the month. I've used it for different things. But recently I added a lined vertical for a memory planner of things I do or feel each day. So far, I'm using it to jot the important things in the news each week as a memory journal.
I also use the horizontal planner. I found that if I take the horizontal lines and block out 1/3 of it, I can jot down pay dates and when bills are do so I’m not using my monthly for bills only. Rest of the horizontal lines are the daily to-dos to make the most of my day. 😅
Thank you so much for your video. As a writer, my sidebar lists project progress, word counts, etc. Will use for theater production projects as well. Wish HP had stickers for those. TFS ❤
Hi I’m new to your channel and planning. I like the creative part like when I do scrapbooking. Love learning new tips and tricks to planning. I do prefer big calendar most of time but trying to incorporate weekly. I’m an empty nester, so trying to decide what I want to do in spaces. You mentioned your husband was sick. I hope he is ok now. 🤗
I’m so sorry. I lost my husband unexpectedly six months ago at 38 and am trying out planning in hopes that it helps me deal with the depression that comes with grief

I've made a packing list for trips ever since grade school...it's soooooo helpful
I track phone calls or people I need to talk to in person and a brief description of what for. I love this, thanks for all the ideas

Mine does change, depending on what is going on. Although I will say that the important calls will always go there from now on. LOL
I love it when you flip back through your planners. It just reminds me how talented and creative you are! Your spreads are always so fun to look at!

I do habit tracking in my classic and goals of the week in my mini classic planner.

Bible verse for the week
Great ideas!! I change up my sidebar almost every week. This gave me more ideas. Thank you!
Great Ideas! I usually don’t do much except place a sticker or cover with scrapbook paper.
Lots of ideas. Currently I do the same every week - top 3 priority tasks for the week to make sure they get done and then a section for money spent each week. Occasionally I add a habit tracker or write down TV shows.

wearetheEs mini side bar?
Yes please..I never know what to do for that small space. So I just decorate it
I personally use the sidebar for my assignments that are due for each week, and I put the day of the month they’re due next to it.
P.S. you could list Health issues, Drs. Appts. Doctors Names and Medications.
This video just made me realize that my horizontal don’t have weekly side bars 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️😩😩
