How to open Virus soundbanks in Viper

- The biggest feature in Viper version 1.1.0 is the ability to import Virus soundbanks! Explore thousands of presets made for the Virus with this new feature! To use this feature you need to download the free Virus waveforms available on Viper's webpage: www.adamszabo..... Please note that not all Viper patches will sound 100.00% identical to the Virus sounds. The Virus and Viper are two different synths, written in a completely different way. The Virus has features that Viper does not have, and vice-versa. Not all patches will be compatible and those will sound nothing like the original. If the Virus patch uses the same features that Viper has, the conversion will be much more accurate. Please keep that in mind when importing the Virus patches.

Viper is truly a powerful virus emulation. In fact, if the presets created on Viper were adapted to the Virus, it would actually be great.

What an update. For little money a virus as vst with thousands of sounds. The outstanding feature is the possibility to use your own wavetables.

i put the folders in the correct locations but it doesn't work for me. it doesn't detect the wav files as a soundbank or preset

How can I resolve the issue of missing waveforms, Ive loadded them into the waveforms but still nothing? Anyone?

Nice work mate. Installed and it works great. 2 things i would ask if its possible. 1. In the Patchbrowser do you think its possible to move inbetween sounds with the cursor keys ? Would make it much easier to navigate throu sounds. 2. Steinberg is droping VST2 from now in 2 years. Do you plan to port it in vst3 to stay compatible ? Would be cool, all cubase users couldnt use your synth anymore then.
I did try to have cursor keys in the browser, but it wont work so well in some DAWs because cursor keys will do different things. You cannot really tell the DAW to only use those keys when the plugin is open. If other plugin makers figured out a way how to do it I can try to add it. Yes VST3 is still buggy and has issues but once its ironed out, it will be available before Steinberg drops VST2.

I have only Viper. Is it possible to import Access Virus soundbank even then? I cant find 'import .mid bank' option in menues.
You need to update your viper to 1.1.0

No you dont need a virus thats the whole point. You only need to acquire virus soundbanks

there is already program change in Viper. you can use the midi cc# 19 to change presets, which is the standard.
i appreciate soft synths but preferred the romplers more (atmosphere/kontakt)
for those raw wav files direct from the outputs of the synths
but the more I research that psy kicks for example are best when synthesized (bazzism)
and the super/hypersaws are best from synths (JP/Virus)_not samples_ive gotta have it

The best way to start is to read the manual, then play around with existing presets and see what each control does. It takes a long time to learn just like learning an instrument, but its not that difficult if you find it fun.
Can you add the option to lock the arp settings? Like, if i change preset, it automaticly turns on the arp. But I never use the arp thats in the plugin, i always create my own in the pianoroll of fl studio or cubase
Yes you can lock all the different sections. Move your mouse over the long line where it says "ARP SETTINGS" or "ARP PATTERN" and double click on it and it will be locked.
preset DromeCrdMS why sounds on Virus more punchy and agressive?
Viper is not a 1:1 virus clone, there will always be some differences. You will anyway add eq to viper in a production and you can shape it the way you like

(I've seen in your PDF, 1-2 System Requirements, the Viper plugin requires an internal bridge for 64-bit host).

Hi, yes the Viper manual is for Viper version 1.0 and its a bit outdated, I should have updated it. Viper is now a native 64 bit VST you dont need a bridge. Make sure you try the demo version and see if it works on your system ;)

I see that whenever the virus preset is using the guitar cabinet distortion effects, Viper instead just ignore it and do not implement distortion at all, do you plan to implement an alternative for those guitar cab in the future?, although at this point only Virus C preset actually load perfectly without a problem because it doesn't require those guitar cabs
Not every Virus Ti preset uses the cabinet, its a very small percentage that actually use them so its not a big deal, so viper can load Virus Ti banks just fine. I am not an expert in cabinets, so I dont know when they will be in Viper, but in the meantime its better to use other guitar cabinet VSTs on it.
@@adamszabomusic I dont know if you already checked most of the presets that is out there floating, but I find that a lot of bass presets use those guitar cab distortion. It might help these preset if maybe you implement it as IR guitar cabinet instead, although just my crude idea (im sure someone will find a way to sample those virus guitar cab distortion within IR).
How do you feel about the recent release of the DSP 56300 (Virus B and C) emulator?
Viper and DSP 56300 are 2 different approaches. Viper is an emulation....DSP is a clone. I love them both...! Which Rom's are next? Nordlead/DiscoDSP...im very curious what will happen in the near future.
I think its an amazing achievement what they have made. Since Viper is a different synth, there could be new features added later in the future, where as the Virus will be what it is, it seems they stopped development on it a long time ago.
@@janvisser1963 The guys involved in the emulator project are trying to emulate the Waldorf MicroQ and Microeave II/XT synths. At the moment, they are only focusing on synths that use one DSP.

so.. you can open virus soundbanks, but.. BUT.. can you create sounds in viper and export them for use in a virus?
Unfortunately no, thats not possible. Opening and reading .mid files is easier than creating them.
Do I put copy them into the User or Factory folder? That's not quite clear....
It is explained in the Read me text file quite clearly: To use them in Viper, simply put the "Virus Classic Waveforms" in the "Waveforms" folder, and the "Virus TI Wavetables" into the "Wavetables" folder.
Dont put them in User or Factory just the main directory

Can you load 3rd party soundbanks from different sound designers into Viper? they are in the .mid format. Can Viper import this and how? do you need the newest version 1.1 ?

Yes you can load 3rd party banks and you need the new version 1.1.0

You mention that Viper has features that the Virus doesn't have, and vice versa. Could you give a quick rundown of the Viper's unique features as well as those that are missing from the Virus?
The Virus has an atomizer effect, grain-table, and formant-table oscillators. The Viper does not have as many effects and LFO waveforms. On the other hand, Viper allows for single cycle waveforms and Serum wavetables to be imported.
@@jackcimino8822 Viper also has an extra step sequencer above the arp and you can create more interesting sequences. Viper also has shimmer on the reverb which the Virus doesnt have. Viper also has Midi out to control other synthesizers with its arpeggiator, and you can resize the gui + have different skins

i always wanted the irus synth but it cost too much but this is good news this new feature it is ery cool.. i count virus hardware should not cost so much money i know many trance or dance djs hae this synth in their studio but its oerrated for the price.
