I don't usually like these kinds of videos, but this one is right on. Our GSD fits all these patterns. He's an AMAZING creature, but very sensitive. Loyal, intelligent, loving beyond belief. They are the very best of breeds.
I am a retired k9 police officer who recently lost his partner of 8 years. He was 10 years old when I had to have him put down for intestinal cancer. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss him! Only thing I can say for what he hated, was after I had retired and had to leave for work every morning I could see in his eyes the confusion as to why he wasn't getting in the car with me. I don't think I will ever get over losing him.
My GS Died 20 years ago and broke our hearts into pieces. She also died of Cancer. We said never again will we have another. We Bought a GS Pup 9 months ago so glad we did. She has given us back some of what we lost. One day maybe you will feel the same. And if you don't. That's fine too. Sorry for your loss.
I completely understand how you feel. I lost my GSD boy due to a bowel obstruction last December (2021), I had 10 years of 24/7 companionship with him and it tore me up and I still ache. Not a day goes by that I don't long for him. God willing, I will one day be able to have another GSD. But there will never be one who can fill the spot he has in my heart. I will love and care for them of course, but I suffered a huge loss. He wasn't "just a dog." as I have heard some say. I LOST MY BEST FRIEND.
My GSD (Rocky) is huge, 115 lbs we were told he was too fat by a trainer however the Vet said he was fine. One day last year my Neighbors dogs took off while we were talking , Rocky tried to take off and I let him go. He chased and caught the dog picked him up by the collar and brought him home. He let go at my Neighbors feet I never taught him that. It just came natural plus the strength to carry another dog for two blocks. they are strong.
OK so here’s my GSD story for whatever it’s worth. This is all before my memory but it goes like this… 100 acre farm in Handcock County WV. I was around 2 maybe 3 years old. The dog was given to us by a relative who didn’t have the space to keep him. To my knowledge it was not trained though had a wonderful disposition and very well behaved. That dog allegedly followed me everywhere and never left my side. One day my mom plopped me on the kitchen porch where I would play so she could glance out the door window to keep an eye on me. I guess this day she didn’t do all that well (I have a wonderful living mom!) because she looked out and I was gone. She began circling the house looking for me and at one point saw I was back on the porch again. Soaking wet with mud and pond slime. Fred (our shepherd) was soaked about halfway down. It was dry that day and the only muddy water was the farm pond. As impossible as it would seem I must have wondered down at that age and fell in. It was a nasty snake infested pond. There was also bite marks on the back of the shorts (underwear) I was wearing. Dog must have yanked me out and heeded me back home. I have no way of knowing how true this is but a dog name Fred saved my life! If nothing else it makes a good story.
We have a white swiss shepherd (pretty much a gsd) and he loves being close to us and cuddling. We weren't expecting it (we were told to expect him to be a bit detached) but he's really affectionate, it's awesome.
my girl hates when I stop throwing the ball or being ignored by friends/family when they visit. Must play, must be adored. I've had 2 female GSD, both intensely smart, loyal and protective at the right times and as soon as they know you are a friend( human or canine) they include you as one of their own. Put the effort in from the moment you get one, training, socialization, good nutrition and exercise you will have the best dog.
I had a 13 YO female I just recently had to put down for a cardiac tumor. I really miss her, she didn’t like it at all when I left to go racing. She always seemed to know when I would get down my gear bag, and then just stop and look at me so sad like “dad please don’t go”. I would always try to be real quiet but she always seemed to know and would come find me
I'm sorry for your loss as I know the pain in losing such a beautiful pup as I lost my angel a few weeks ago and yes my girl also would look at me when she knew I would be going out for a while 🐕🦺 so smart and majestic 💘 hope they are playing around waiting for us when we meet them again
I recently adopted a 3 year old German Shephard named Duke. In the week and a half we have had him he has destroyed 2 different crates ( the third crate is an Impact crate which Dog-Dini has not broken yet). He hates other dogs and will throw himself against the plate glass window to get to them. We have interviewed several dog trainers and picked the trainer that the local police department recommended, and hopefully will start training shortly. This is my second German Shephard, our first one lived to the ripe old age of 14.
I just brought home my pup and his dad , being the only dog for 3 years is a little jealous when it comes to attention but this is still within a week and I can see improvement already. Very smart dogs.
My big boy is a mix of GSD and Malamute. A 130 lbs of intelligence and he’s not overweight. I feature him sometimes on my channel. He loves herding turkeys, but not as keen on the chickens. He loves playing scent games. Absolutely must walk with me every day down our street to get the mail. He has a canvas tote that I put light weight items in and he insists on carrying it home. When we go in the car he always brings in the end of his leash. If that’s not available, he’ll carry in an umbrella, my wallet, a roll of paper towels, a bag. I carry a light weight purse so if he wants to carry it he can. Around town he gets lots of pets and admirers.
My brother & sister in law owned 1 GSD and 2 GSD mixes, all 3 were great dogs, protective of their family members, loved to be out and about with family members, these dogs could walk all day if need be. I miss all of them, they were never any trouble because they were all trained at a young age.
They are family. Anyone who truly loves their pets will miss them when they die. Pets are friends, companions, and a comfort to their owners. All the time spent together is treasured. The memories will be there, the love will never be gone.
I have a German Shepard/Akita and she’s just the most intelligent, loyal, intelligent, protective girl! She was just sick with a stomach virus and had me and my fiancé worried sick! She’s better now but We’ve been SUPER spoiling her ever since although she’s had a change in her diet to keep her healthy as possible!
We never take a long vacation when we have my gsd. Except with him travel locally. He really behaves very well. We don't want to put him on boarding care either. It is because we had a very bad experience with the other breed before. So, no matter where we go, he is the #1 to be with us. Spoiled him, definitely yes. Just love to see his excitement while he puts his nose up in the air when traveling with him. It is just so happy with him.
I have two GSDs, one 7 yrs and one 3 yrs old. They both cannot stand being left alone when my wife or I have to leave the house. All GSDs I've ever been in contact with have separation anxiety to some degree. They get better as they age, but early on they can be very destructive. With my youngest, if I leave him for more than about 2-3 hrs, I'll have a pile of something chewed into tiny bits and left PRECISELY in a pile in the middle of the kitchen floor to let me know how he feels about the situation. And no dog can give you a reproachful look like a Shepherd.
That’s exactly how they look at you when you come home , like why did you leave me, why did you take so long, I wanted to go too , etc , etc , this loving, loyal , intelligent creatures let you know exactly how they feel by just looking at you, at least that’s how it is with my beautiful girl . I love all dogs and believe that they are God’s gift to us and German Shepards are among the most especial breeds.
I have 2 GSD's as well, a male and female. My GSD's hate boredom, for sure. I have to play ball with them at least twice a day and or take them for a few walks in the woods each week or both. Plain and simple, they need exercise. If you don't exercise them every day they become destructive, but as long as you give them play sessions every day and get them panting hard both times, they are great dogs. I love my GSD's mine have a great personality very loyal and sweet. They don't dode on you like giant schnauzers, but they are affectionate. I feed mine a good high quality dog food Diamond Naturals all life stage chicken and brown rice plus I add a half of a cup of raw meat like chicken or Turkey or beef. I also give them an egg most days and a can of sardines twice a week. I hope this will give my dogs a very long life, as GSD's don't live long, only around 10 years. I hope I can get 15 years out of mine. It's very hard to lose something you love. I had a giant Schmoodle who was the perfect dog before I bought my GSD's, and it was very hard to lose him. Any way, there you go, hope this helps.
Hate is a strong word but if a German Shepherd Dog hates anything it would be being away from it's family (Pack)I've had GSD'S for over 50 years and over that course I put way to many down and I remember each and every one of them there love is unconditional they actually live to please you ,currently I have a 10 year old and a 3 year old GSD, I have lots of property for them to get exercise, no matter what kind of day you had or how long you been away weather it be 10 minutes or 10 hours it's the same result, they are happy to see you back home GSD'S are awesome
My baby is now 8 months old. I never expected to have a pure breed as I’ve always preferred to rescue, however after my beautiful shepherd x border collie x lab passed away last year after an aggressive tumour on his heart, there were limited options to adopt and I met a first time GSD breeder, 4 girls and 6 boys, dad all black, Mum mostly black with some tan colouring. The breeder kindly asked me what I was looking for and I said a kind hearted, friendly family member. He suggested the puppy he thought would be perfect and I took home. I could never be more in love, no less or more than I’ll always have for my prior 2 dogs I’ve had after becoming an adult and leaving home to become independent. She is a working line breed, pure black with some tan colouring between her paws only. Charlotte is her name, or miss Lottie and sometimes Charlie for short. She is perfect, apart for her disobedience (she’s a baby and I’m certain this is normal while she continues to grow, given deserved patience, gentle kindness, unrelenting love, understanding and apt training. I took her back to her breeder fairly regularly so she could visit her parents and breeder as they are good people and lived nearby. During a visit, Charlotte became quite boisterous and the breeder somehow copped a bite wound to his hand (Charlotte would have been about 9 weeks old at the time) the breeder then advised me he thinks Charlotte is an alpha female. Advice I really wasn’t glad to hear yet at no time then or since will I stop being her loving Mum. Charlotte loves the beach, loves her regular training schedule, loves people and other dogs. She is particularly fixated on the swimming pool and water chasing in the back yard 😊 In the not too distant future I plan to introduce her to agility training. We’ve loved her since the day she came to us, is as important and as precious as any family member could be. She’s destined to live her best life and I am so privileged and grateful to have her in my life. Dogs are one of God’s greatest gifts to us 💛🐾🐾
Alpha means she's a leader. She expects people and animals to get with the program. You decide what that program will be. If you are a great leader to her - calm, confident, firm, fair and trustworthy - she will become that kind of leader. Many young, energetic dogs are mislabeled as alphas. As they get older, they mellow and blend in, somewhere in the middle of the dominant-submissive spectrum. You're in for a good time!
@@mrsmcdonald9363 thank you for responding. Yeah she is reactive when we’re out, very protective and attentive so I’m being guided by the puppy school teachers / trainers which amaze me how good they are and how quick Charlie learns, especially with fair minded consistency. When I said she bit her breeder while she was playing, I don’t believe she bit him with intent. Rather her teeth grazed his hand accidentally as she mouths a lot (apparently a Shepherd and also border collie trait, as my first dog was border collie mix, quite similar in temperament to Charlie and incredibly faithful) and no doubt a sign of the breed that they do this as an enhancement of communication. But not sure if that last sentence even makes sense. Do you know? Thank you again for posting your video and advice shared.
P.S she’s now 38kg’s at almost 9.5 months. I’ve had different estimations of what her adult weight to expect, mostly between 36 - 38kg’s but I’ve always felt she’s more likely to weigh at least 40. I guess she’ll continue to surprise. The vet’s won’t desex her until she’s at least 18 months old or 24 months depending on her 18 month weight and growth. I’m not sure if I should let her breed after 24 months, as I’ve not done it before.
My GSD hates too much of the same thing. He gets tired of the same old treats or the same old food even the same old park and game. He want consistent, new, stimulation. Lucky I work from home so I have the time and energy to keep things fresh and fun.
My son gifted a Russian shepherd couple f years ago. He’s so typical GSD as to be a twin. He’s smart and getting protective f me. He’s gentle where people r concerned but not other dogs.
My shepherd was a rescue from a couple who did not know what they were getting themselves into when they took her in. Well, one day they left the house and left her free reign of the house for the whole day. Needless to say, they came home to a totally destroyed house and was preparing to shoot her when I got a call to take her quick. I came and took her with me that day itself, and it was the best decision I had ever made. I wen’t back to driving truck and took her with me. She was the best companion to have. We bonded very quickly, and even though she was completely terrified of people, she knew to look to me for guidance, and I made sure to be calm and purposeful about the vibes I’m giving her not to mention clear commands which we had worked on prior to her coming out with me. She loved going to our trips and she loved the time she get to spend with me. We would learn new things everyday or a new command. She knows her hand commands and signals, and even taught herself how to wind down the windows! We worked on her stays when I have to go into the truck stop for my receipts and we worked it up to 15 minutes at a time. If I have to go take a shower, I take her along with me and she is happy to lay on the floor and wait for me while I shower. She is by far, one of the best dogs I have had; and I have rescued quite a few. It is all in the breed understanding which is the foundation of the dogs mind, but individual dog have their own little quirk, which you will find if you spend the time with them and is willing to learn from them as you are in teaching them. To me, building a bond and mutual respect in the best way to train yourself and your dog.
Hmm, yes, you're right. I currently have my third GSD, completely different from my late GSD. He's 14 months old with an excellent temperament but he's at a problematic stage where he jumps and bite people ( ME, first!) and sometimes defies my 'suggestions" so we're working on that............Hard work. He never responds if I'm angry/yell/raise my voice at him which is probably why "we're having such a tough time training him not to jump =- EVERYONE tries yelling "No" at him and he ignores them. Yesterday I finally got smarter and instead of "directing him with the leash" threw liver on the snow and said "find" which was an excellent distraction to what I didn't want him to do. I'm going to keep trying this method since other methods don't work and I won't use a prong or shock collar. Thank you for your video
I have a 4 year old female, she hates being away from me! hates that I can't play with her 24/7. I love her to pieces and would definitely get another one if I could. These dog are UNIQUE and very special.
My German Shepherd also loves being around me always A time came when he saved me from a robber..... It's so painful he passed away last year..... He was my only companion since my wife died.. I miss him so much He is indeed a friend
My German Shepherd is different in every way. He is a long hair male and 5 years old. We live in a duplex on a highway so he only goes out on a leash, He is huge and a total gentle giant. Never meets a stranger, loves everyone and while he just LOVES going for a ride in the car, going for walks in the park and going swimming anywhere he is also very content with being inside with me or while I'm at work. I do go home everyday at lunch to take him out, walk in the morning and once again after supper. Which I am very happy he is not like other German Shepherds because I adopted him two and a half years ago from a very bad situation. You would never know he was mistreated and I am so happy to have him. I guess there can be exceptions to the rules of the breed.
I don't know what you mean by "other german shepherds", but I have an intacted 1.5 year old male who has never meet a person or dog he doesn't want to be besties with. He's also content being in the house aslong as he gets his daily walks too. Maybe you didn't mean anything by your comment, but it kinda made it sound like you think most GSD are aggressive and destructive and that's simply not true. There are plenty of us out here with well behaved and friendly dogs.
@@annalemke2175 what I meant by Other German Shepherd's was what the post was about. About them not doing so good in like an apartment and I am very grateful that mine is and that he is totally fine with strangers. I love German Shepherd's. I would have never been born if not for a German Shepherd. One saved my grandfather's life in WW2. My mom, aunt, uncle, cousin's, niece , nephew ect ect would have never been if not for one. I grew up with German shepherds almost like brother and sisters. Got a lot of love and protection from them. I love animals, I really love dogs, I think they are all awesome and I will always think German Shepherd's are the very best
My German Shepherd dog is not fearful of any situations I exposed her to everything as a young dog noises vacuum cleaners gunshots I took her all over the place shopping centers, she's been on high-speed trains she's been in hospitals with me she's been on airplanes she's been around all kinds of people, the only thing she is protective of is her yard and her house otherwise I can take her anywhere, but everyone knows in the whole neighborhood not to come near my house. She's also the best Watchdog in the whole neighborhood she never barks excessively but when she barks everyone knows something's going on and everyone depends on her for shepherd's security, she's never wrong with her alerts. I believe my dog is one in a million not because she's mine just because she's a genius and perfect in every way
Our Rex doesn't like when my husband and I argue. He becomes very quiet, lays not too far and looks at us. It seems like he wants to tell us Could you please stop, I love both of you and can not take a side... He is a best dog ever. Sometimes I think we love him more than we love each other )))
I almost forgot, they sometimes get into things and then suffer extreme guilt for doing so. I came home one day and Jake greeted me hunched with his tail between his legs, I had no idea why until I realized he had packed a dozen buttermilk biscuits into the living room chairs LMAO!
I like all dogs but I absolutely love 💝💕 German shepherds very loveable and intelligent breed I hate people that miss treats an animal they have feelings too
Yelling at most dogs hurts more than a beating which I never do. A light scolding is even rough on them. I never treat my pups that way. They brake so easily. Just love and firm training makes the best. All of my dogs after a week or two are off leash 100%
Would like to know more about your training method, etc. I really LIKE my GSD off leash but currently he's really "testing" ( 14 months old).........................Thank you
Missing my sheppie so awfully And yes he couldn't bear being yelled at (even if it was not my doing) and being ignored Besides routine is routine and nothing absolutely nothing may interfere 😂❤
My boys (1yr, 2yr) hate to be left alone. In fact, I never leave them alone. They go with and if I HAVE to go somewhere where the can't, like the doctor, they stay with my mom or dad. I don't go to restaurants or stores that they can't come with. It's a huge rearrange to your lifestyle to own these dogs. Be sure you're ready to make big changes.
She is not getting the exercise needed, but some. She is 4 years old and we got her about 2 years ago from neighbor the got her from the pound. We missed the puppy years. She hates thunder, fireworks, wind, rain and gun shots in the neighborhood. What she really needs is a good sized sheep herd the run down everyday… I am retired now 6 years and have all the time to stay up at night with weeks the people use fireworks. I will figure out better exercise for her …Example of thunder storms in Arizona .. It’s 3 am in the morning and I’ve been up since 10:30m pm the day before. ….. Glad I am retired to look out after. My wife says that is why you are retired. She you can look out after Else… We just started using a couple of medications that really calm her down. I also got her ear muffs that block fireworks, thunders storms ect. (Just started with ear muffs from Amazon. About $70.00 … first night attempt using … seems to work but will will see
There was a white German Shepherd dog when I was in college. He wasn't mine but he would greet me every morning and run alongside my bike as I went to swim class. He'd wait for me after class and go with me to my next class where he gets distracted with other people and be gone. For a long time I did not know his name so I just called him White Dog. I later learned his name was Apollo. You could throw a rock in a pickup truck and he jumped right in. Fortunately the dog pound catchers did not know this.
Funny story.... I have a husky and german shepherd both under a year... couldn't be more different.. Example - when the husky breaks out of the yard , let the running begin! Yet the german shepherd she brings him back home.. I even found out the german shepherd had figured out how to open the gate using the latch she saw me using but the difference is she only wanted to go around to the front door for us to let her in while the husky was on a mission to go exploring the city.... What I find drastically different between the two breeds is the husky doesn't really care about pleasing me as much as the german shepherd does and it shows during training. I have to have the best treats for the husky to be engaged while the german shepherd only requires praise and play time to perform... they are brilliant breed!
I agree with most of this, however, two big flaws. 1) I’ve never ever had my dog try to bite me when I yell at her, and she knows what she did wrong like most other breeds do, you walk in and point at the issue, and they immediately know they did something wrong and look all apologetic. They aren’t dumb. And 2) GSD’s are INCREDIBLY needy dogs, will follow you literally anywhere you go around the house, and need constant attention. This is a well known trait. I think you eventually went on to kind of say it but the initial thing was not correct.
My GSD is very sensitive, in a negative way, to people and animals in an unstable frame of mind. He is confused. Should he subdue them? Help them? Protect them? Join the hysteria? We're sorting through the stimuli and teaching appropriate responses, but it's a lot of work.
gSd you will never poop alone 👻 Ben lives in a tiny flat. Honestly zero problem. He gets a lot of excise and happily sleeps in his flat if I got to work. Ben hates rules, cows (working on that), being sprayed with vinegar to made to behave, owls hooting/attacking (working on that), people on the other side of any fence, Godzilla,... He is a pretty confident chilled dogo
I honestly think I have a 1 in a million GSD. He's 106lbs, a total couch potato, doesn't bark, loves going to new places and meeting new people. Overall, he's a chill dog. He doesn't like it when we leave home though. He either has to go with us or a huge bag of snacks and dog TV to keep him company.
I got my working line GSD of German and British lineage when she was just over 2 years old and she hadn't been socialised at all, not with people or other dogs. The idiot I rescued her from decided she wasn't aggressive enough to train as an attack dog and he wanted her to kill any stranger who entered his property. He was going to kill her and get a male. I got her home and on our first walk a man was coming the other way and I noticed he was staring at her. She didn't time it right and leaped for the man's throat too early and missed him, thank god. She was a killer and the fool I got her from didn't have a clue how dangerous she was. Six months later after socialising with neighbours, their children and their dogs, for the most part she was a completely different animal at almost 3 years of age. I'd had to replace my wooden side gate with a metal one because one day she charged through the wooden gate, mostly smashing it, to try and kill a stranger who came into the front yard. After I got a metal gate I didn't worry anymore. My front gate had a squeaky spring loaded handle and she always heard it and would fly around to the side gate to do her Crush Kill Destroy act until I went out to tell her to stop it. If it was someone I knew I'd tell them to say "Hello Anna!" and when they did she'd howl with delight and want to be petted. I lived alone in a place with a very small yard and she never did anything destructive, or barked. My neighbours said that they always knew when I left the house without her because she would howl like a wolf for about 10 seconds and that was it. I'd take her to the park every morning before work and then when I got home and for a late night walk around the neighbourhood. She was born on 4th of May 1994 and lived to Feb 9th 2009. Some people have dogs that they like/love and then there are others, like me, who know that they can never replace that one animal that has meant so much to them. Sorry for taking so long, but I just wanted to say that like us, dogs are individuals and no breed can be categorised within strict parameters. Take a chance, get involved and you just might be surprised how rewarding it is for you and your dog.
I own a GSD. He hates being left out of the fun more than anything. If we go outside and he has to stay in for any reason he has severe separation anxiety.
When I first started work as a teenager, I used to ride my bike home for lunch, my GSD would wait in the corner of the garden for me to ride around the corner in to our road.. she would jump the gate, and run to greet me, and then run alongside back to our house.. My Mum said that one day, 'Pat' was waiting as usual for me to appear, when a policeman came around the corner on his bike, 'Pat' thinking it was me, jumped the gate and ran to meet the policeman. My Mum said that the policeman was doing about 30mph by the time he got to our gate. I turned up 5 minutes later, and things were back to normal.
I had a german shepherd when I was 4 but then the doctor told my parents that we don't have much space so we gave it to our friend .when woke up and my parents told all about it I got so angry and cried for a week.i still sometimes cry again😢😢
WE OWN 2 G.S./WOLF HYBRIDS. WHAT WAS SAID HERE FITS WITH OUR EXPERIENCE. BUT I WOULD REPHRASE FOR HYBRIDS: THEY BPND SO TIGHTLY THAT THEY HATE BEING AWAY FROM THOSE THEY HAVE BONDED WITH. WHEREVER POSSIBLE WE TAKE OURS WITH US! THEY BECOME FORLORN AND RESTLESS IF AWAY FROM THEIR PACK MATES (i.e. YOU OR WHOEVER THEY HAVE BONDED WITH.). THEY ARE UTTERLY DEVOTED! THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK.
I own a 110 Lbs Male Shiloh Shepherd, a cousin to the German. I recommend looking into the Shiloh if you are seeking a German Shepherd, both great dogs. The Shiloh is a Engineered Shepherd with 50 or 60 years of tweaking the German Shepherd dog for health & size improvements. They tend to be a bit calmer too. Like I said both dogs are awesome. Search the Shiloh Shepherd here on RUclips, but be careful of posers. Make sure it's a real ISSR Shiloh and not some backyard hobby poser there are at least 5 to 8 cross dogs in this breeds cocktail of breeding. Just look them up, it's a real education.
I would say the #1 thing our boy hates is being away from the family unit and having part of the family behind a closed door. If my kids are watching TV in the living room and my husband and I head to our room, he'll whine at the door and loudly exhale/sigh with his nose at the bottom on the door until the door is opened. He always stresses when the kids walk out to bus in the morning too. He hates not knowing where part of his pack is.
My GSD hates it when I accidentally bump keys which he automatically reacts to and heads to the car, even if we just returned from 3 hours of walks, beach, river and bush walks.
This video exaggerates the ‘negative’. My German Shepherds have always been exceptional friends and defenders. The negative behaviors described have never been experienced with me. The idea that your German Shepherd will bite you is so unlikely as to be ridiculous. The most accurate part of this video is the notion that they love physical activity. They will outlast you every time.
i have a gsd. puppy well she is about 5 months old i have tried everything i know to potty train her but she insists on crapping in her night cage. she is a great loving dog. but stubborn. i take her out before i go to bed, then i look at her and she has pooped in her cage i think she is on a mission to make me craizer than i already am then she looks at me like what?
My GSD hates it when I eat certain pizza in front of her. She is only 5 months tho. That is the only human food I will truly give her to keep her calm.
Mine knows when I’m angry and he knows why. It doesn’t bother him if I scold him in a very strict tone. He gets submissive and lays down. Then he will lick me. So I disagree with that one. Mine is absolutely crazy about me.
Please Can anyone help me ? I have 1.5 yrs GSD . He is a very good dog and our whole family love him . But except one thing ! That is he runs from home and jump on people or scare them . In his puppyhood when he runs away we used to yell him but then , when he didn't understand that , then we started hitting him not much but slap on his face 1 or 2 times . But when he didn't understand and not solved our frustration increased to beating him and yelling so much . He always runs away or hide somewhere but not responded any time . But after 8 months he but me so hard and then now whenever he runs away and then he come home again , even if we don't beat him , he always bite us so hard . Please help how can I make him good boy again I don't want to hurt him and Don't want him to hurt us . Please help huge request
Persistents without resistance is what I say ,which means they are high energy dogs ,spend time with them and hitting them will solve nothing, if it's a pup (up to 1 1/2 years old ) it needs lots attention, work with it ,don't give up
My girl is 1 and a real handful sometimes. She will bark and whine to get my attention. She is always trying to put her paws on my anywhere like my leg. If I am sitting she will try to put her paw on my arm or shoulder. My dog will only jump on my boyfriend and mother. She will go nuts when she sees my boyfriend. She nips and jumps on him all the time. Do you know what I can do to stop this behavior? I need help 😫 please
Both your mom and boyfriend need to ignore the GSD when she is misbehaving and give affection/attention only when she is behaving. When they enter a room with your dog, ignore her, no eye contact, etc. With jumping, backing up to avoid contact when you can see she is going to jump and Saying, "Down", only when she is in a down should she receive affection/attention. I learned this in puppy class with my GSD puppy. Others here may have other tips, good luck with your girl!
GS hates stupid people who getting them as domesticated pet. its a working animal. not a indoor back yard pet. and by the way GS is amazing in apartments WHEN YOU INVEST TIME IN TRAINING!
I had a boxer wouldn't touch kibble he ate Salman eggs with the shell when he's older the shell has as much protein as the placenta the mother dog licks off the pups those big sardines not kingvoscar steak liver organ meat 1 a WK raw chicken wings they can digest the bone but not when there cooked a little organic rice or sweet potato they love raw, steingbeans carrots broccoli cauliflower never mushrooms garlic or onion they should have uzzle dog bowls so that they eat slower and not too much water because they are deep chested they can bloat and of y don't know the signs and get them to a vet immediately their stomach will twist and then they will die
I don't usually like these kinds of videos, but this one is right on. Our GSD fits all these patterns. He's an AMAZING creature, but very sensitive. Loyal, intelligent, loving beyond belief. They are the very best of breeds.
Best dogs ever, but you have to put the work in!
I don’t think I’ll ever own another breed. Absolutely love mine.
My gsd is perfect! Best dog ever!!!
Thank you for your service!
And I’m sorry for your loss, I recently lost my dog, too… it’s like you said not a day goes by without missing him 💔
I lost my german shepherd to cancer too I still have a german shepherd but not like the one I lost
Sorry for your loss 💖
The vet was right
They absolutely hate being ignored
The only genuine and loyal friend God has ever created for human kind, I wonder why Chinese eat them, like how do you start
You are accurate in all the things you mentioned about Shepherds. Thank you for confirmaing what I thought about them.
Getting mine this week. It will be my second to own. You're right having a gsd is a blessing.
I totally agree! My GSD is 3 and has eaten at least one of all my remote controls. The only thing that keeps him from being destructive is Dog TV.
how heavy does ur 7-year old gsd weigh?
@I love BTS
My oldest is 98 lbs and my youngest is 118.
@@wadehampton5116 awesome🥰👍
She is particularly fixated on the swimming pool and water chasing in the back yard 😊
In the not too distant future I plan to introduce her to agility training.
My German Shepherd also loves being around me always
A time came when he saved me from a robber..... It's so painful he passed away last year..... He was my only companion since my wife died.. I miss him so much
He is indeed a friend
Mine is over 4 y/o, hates to be left alone when's I go to work. He's sociable and loves to go to work me as often as possible. Super loyal.
German shepherd's are the best breed out there, I wouldn't have anything else.Im on my number 6 now, can't live without one.
He’s responding to the loving environment and your caring attentio
@@constancejamieson8173 he's something else. I'm always making funny videos of him doing something
Sometimes I think we love him more than we love each other )))
GSD are the smartest dogs in the world !!!!
I almost forgot, they sometimes get into things and then suffer extreme guilt for doing so. I came home one day and Jake greeted me hunched with his tail between his legs, I had no idea why until I realized he had packed a dozen buttermilk biscuits into the living room chairs LMAO!
I bought a GDS back in Feb this year my boy had the parvo virus, I thank God he survived!
About $70.00 … first night attempt using … seems to work but will will see
thanks a LOT for the USEFUL information and to be TOTALLY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will SOMEWHAT like german shepherds
I’m knew to the GSD , but I’ve noticed every thing you said. He picked me, I’m not the owner but he doesn’t want anything to do with his owner
I love my Czech working GSD
There was a white German Shepherd dog when I was in college. He wasn't mine but he would greet me every morning and run alongside my bike as I went to swim class. He'd wait for me after class and go with me to my next class where he gets distracted with other people and be gone. For a long time I did not know his name so I just called him White Dog. I later learned his name was Apollo. You could throw a rock in a pickup truck and he jumped right in. Fortunately the dog pound catchers did not know this.
Ours hates any kind of break in patterns. She likes things done exactly the same way every day. It’s so funny!
They definitely don't like to be ignored. When they want your attention, they won't be shy about it.
My good boy HATES other male dogs. Especially his neighbour - a giant Brindle Akita. The bigger the dog the bigger the hate. 😅
I have two GSD'S and this i spot on.
My German shepherd doesn't like being left alone he loves me alot
Thank you for this video.
I think you eventually went on to kind of say it but the initial thing was not correct.
why would you yell at your dog? are you the type to seek out arguments just to argue?
My GSD is very sensitive, in a negative way, to people and animals in an unstable frame of mind. He is confused. Should he subdue them? Help them? Protect them? Join the hysteria? We're sorting through the stimuli and teaching appropriate responses, but it's a lot of work.
gSd you will never poop alone 👻
Ben lives in a tiny flat.
He either has to go with us or a huge bag of snacks and dog TV to keep him company.
they are the best have them for more than 40 years never a problem
You nailed it!
They vacuums & anything tools that clean the house - brooms, swifters
I own a GSD.
He hates being left out of the fun more than anything.
If we go outside and he has to stay in for any reason he has severe separation anxiety.
Also talk more about Belgian Milinois

My shepherd loves everyone and hates storms.
My dream dog breeds is German shepherd dog
Mine hates any power tool. I have to put mine in the house so I can use the leaf blower.
Mine Too... Vacuum is a Evil doer!!!! Lol
I have a GSD 3 Month puppy
Hates when I massage her back paws prelude to nail trim
My GSD hates it when I accidentally bump keys which he automatically reacts to and heads to the car, even if we just returned from 3 hours of walks, beach, river and bush walks.
I got a six month old one
I have GSD we love him soo much, sending hugs from LABRADOR COCCO
Anyone can suggest which soap or shampoo I can use for my German shepherd
My GSD is 1.5 yrs old. He gets angry when i point finger towards him or I move his food utensil.what can be the reason for this behaviour.
Well mine hate to stay outside in back yard if I am not there with him.
Also he hate to get in the water sea, lake, river or pool
My German shepherd hates when I hug him for a long time
I just assumed that the hype over GSD was just that, hype. Are all German Shepherds this amazing?
i have a gsd. puppy well she is about 5 months old i have tried everything i know to potty train her but she insists on crapping in her night cage. she is a great loving dog. but stubborn. i take her out before i go to bed, then i look at her and she has pooped in her cage i think she is on a mission to make me craizer than i already am then she looks at me like what?
Do one for the malinois
Thats a Begium GSD. Pretty.
Yeah like boxers they are Velcro dogs
Mine hated skateboards. He could be in the backyard and hear one and start barking wanting to go eat the skateboard
Our daughters GSD when she comes to our TownHome over the holidays chases me and nips at my heels. Does that mean she is bored?
They hate cats 🤣 with all their hearts
I want to add one last thing to the list
My German Shepherd hate cats more than anything lol
I want to know German Sheperd circle around and the owner trying to call the dog name is not paying attention?
I’m getting 2 puppies really soon. Will putting them in a crate bother them that much?
No, crates are useful and important for their safety, as long as you don’t leave them in it for longer than necessary.
Look at it like this, dogs will only do what you allow them to do.
They don't hate people at all
GS hates stupid people who getting them as domesticated pet. its a working animal. not a indoor back yard pet. and by the way GS is amazing in apartments WHEN YOU INVEST TIME IN TRAINING!
She hates sharing her crew toys.
She hates being left home alone.
