I was so ready to hear the Barrett Sister sing again & watch the finale when Patti kicked off her shoes🌝 I enjoyed this.🙌🏿

What Patti said about Chicago folks being lucky is true and not just because of Momma Albertina. Like Patti I grew up in the Northeast and heard some good gospel. But moving to Chicago was something different. Gospel music was just part of the culture and some of the south & west side singers & musicians were amazing.
I have this program recorded on cassette. Rev Clay Evans, Debbie Henry , Patti Labelle and company. PBS needs to release this on DVD/' CD during there next pledge drive

It's unfortunate that the last 2 minutes got cut off. As Patti was stepping down and got to the bottom step, she hit one of the highest notes I've ever heard her hit. But still a historic and amazing performance by all!

I remember seeing this when it first aired on TV. What an amazing memory. So much history in this video. I wish I could get it on DVD. I love Patti, always have. And there is only one Ricky Dillard. He is just bad to the bone.
I was sitting in front of the T.V. watching this as it aired!!! I remember standing and praising God as Ricky Dillard and NGC tore it down singing "Joy"! But I had a real Holy Spirit filled moment as Patti closed out the show with "He Cares"!!!! Over the years as the internet became more technologically advanced and I found RUclips, I put it in the search box and there it was. Initially I just put in "He Cares" Patti Labelle, but i then started searching for the "Going Home To Gospel" airing. That night GPTV was raising money to keep airing these wonderful shows. They eventually started offering a box set of the show. I still cry as I watch her sing this song, now more than ever because my Mom watched with me that night it aired and has since went home to be with our Lord. Thank You for posting this, it has truly been a blessing watching it!!!! God Bless You!!!

I remember seeing this video when it first aired. Years later when Barack was sworn in I remembered seeing him in it. Its most fascinating to me that people accuse him of not being a Christian when years before his first political office and before he ever thought running for president was a viable option for him, here he was... WORSHIPING in a CHURCH. Thank God for him not just wearing his faith on his shoulder but instead living the life, walking the walk, and holding true to HIS faith!
Is cricket government even through all these TV stations can set the stage 25 years in advance and show you what they are going to do and where they're going to put somebody like Barack Obama and Michelle.
