This is really lovely. I like doing large challenging/detailed pieces too. I’m currently working on an English Garden piece by Terese Wentzler (sp ??). It has a lot of confetti and blending of colours. I’m wanting to do a HAED for the first time and am currently researching Flosstubers for their experiences and advice, which is how I found you 🤗.
Oh that's brilliant. I only have one year of HAED experience so still a novice 😆. Initially I thought it was too difficult, but yes, practice and finding a comfortable personal method and a piece that you have no problem committing to, helps a lot.
I love to cross stitch but I must say I'm a little scared of back stitching! I noticed a lot of my dimensions kits require lots of backstitch. This is why as much as I love Dimensions, I tend to lean more towards Heaven & Earth Designs. I can also use Pattern Keeper app with these which is fabulous! I'm wondering if there is a lot of backstitching in Aurora Cabin? Also, you have a great outlook! You are so right. When I get frustrated, I put it down. Then I go back to it Thanks!
I love Dimensions too but yes they can be a challenge in different ways. This pattern has very little backstitch in the trees, it's mostly on the cabin and some areas on the bridge/rocks on the bottom section. I worked on it in little doses at a time so that I wouldn't get frustrated. There are also heaps of white French knots (snow) but my preference was to leave them out . ☺️
Wow that’s coming along great! The details in this pattern is really beautiful. I’m also stitching Aurora Cabin too! I’ve only just started. Do you have any tips for doing the half stitches that wont make the fabric distorted? I’ve previously done another Dimensions pattern and the sky area where there is a lot of half stitches seem to warp the fabric and pull it out of shape on an angle :( Also, do you prefer to stitch one colour at a time? Or do you do parking?
Hi Leyeh, thank you. 😊 Yes I have heard some people comment about distortion though I haven't seemed to have this problem. Could it be that the fabric is not pulled evenly over the hoop/ frame I wonder. Also an uneven tension might affect the end result. Anyway, I'd make sure the half stitches all follow the same direction (all going vertical or horizontal and not in a completely random way as this does show.) Hope it works better for you. X
I also stitch different colours and try to fill in blocks of areas especially when it's very confetti heavy (trees for example) Otherwise I tend to miss a stitch somewhere and it's easy to do that on a dark fabric using darker colours.

Hi Felicia d, here. Do you mix your stiches on your patterns.
